Singapore said it spent US$20 million (US$15 million) on the summit, a figure that drew the ire of some citizens. However, marketing experts say the coverage generated from the event could be worth more than 10 times that.
"It places Singapore on the map for international audiences," said Oliver Chong, executive director, communications and marketing capability at Singapore Tourism Board.
Online travel agent Expedia said its data showed searches from global customers for trips to Singapore had risen by 58 per cent on Jun 10 and Jun 11 relative to the same days in 2017, including a 220 per cent rise in searches by US-based customers.
Andrew Darling, CEO and founder of communications agency West Pier Ventures, said it would cost more than US$200 million to generate the kind of publicity Singapore has received so far by hosting the summit.
Media intelligence firm Meltwater said the coverage over the three days around the summit equated to US$270 million of advertising, while the month leading up to it was worth US$767 million.

$20 million is a big sum ---- but out of so many Countries in the World ---- Singapore is chosen, the little red dot.

It is a great honour, it is a big compliment - that Singapore is a worthy host - to host this World Peace Summit.

It is for a worthy cause :-
(1) To prevent a war breakout in Asia Pacific.
(2) To prevent a nuclear war from breaking out in Asia Pacific and USA.
(3) To prevent a Peninsula war escalating into a World War 3 - by drawing in all the SuperPowers .
(4) To help to achieve denuclearisation in the Korean Penisula, to facilitate a Peace Treaty for the Korean Peninsula, to coax N Korea to integrate with the World Economic Community and contribute to Asia Pacific and Global Economy.

$20 million is a worthy cause, a small price to pay for 菩萨行。

Karma will be extremely good to Singapore ---- for saving millions of countless human lives ........

Because if nuclear war break out --- nuclear winter will cover the whole Earth - and all Humanity on Earth will perish ---- if this Peace Summit is not successful.

This is a Historic moment - a Peace Summit meeting between the US President and N Korea President - all happening in Singapore, the Little Red Dot ---- is not a small feat.

That is why Good Karma will be immense ......................

Who benefits from the publicity?

1. Kim Jung Un and North Korea.

2. Donald Trump and his Presidency.

3. Lee Hsien Loong, Ho Ching, Vivian Balakrishna, Ng Eng Hen, Ong Yee Kung, Shamugam, et el.

4. Capella Hotel.
5. St Regis Hotel.
6. Shangrila Hotel.
7. Marina Bay Sands.
8. Garden By The Bay.

9. Sentosa Development Corporation.

10. Trump's limousine, THE BEAST.

11. Malaysia - because Singapore has been projected world-wide as a part of Malaysia, by US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, in Press Briefing, in front of 3000 international journalists, reporters and cameramen!!!

12. The least benefits, or none at all, not even spin-offs, are the commoners, the masses, the ordinary citizens of Singapore.

All these high profile exposures only benefit high status and high positions' incumbents. This is a fact. Not fake assumption.

Don't believe? Just follow the trails of where the money goes.

I think this is a short-sighted view.

This publicity will generate alot of interest worldwide.
It will attract tourists from all over the World to visit Singapore - this will have a spillover effect in tourism receipts - like airfare, hotel stay, retail purchase, taxi ride etc -- that will contribute to the Government budget - and with budget surplus - Government will have more fund to be distributed to common man in the street as social benefit, GST credit etc.

MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, exhibition) will be attracted into Singapore - and will have the same tourism effects.

In addition, investors all over the World will be impressed by Singapore efficiency, safety, clean, green and secure Country - and may attract investment into Singapore - bringing jobs to Singaporeans - the common man in the street.

Your interpretation of the Summit benefit is definitely short-sighted.

There is a good chance that N Korea will denuke and open its Economy to the World - and N Korea has express that it want to learn from Singapore.

The Economic upside with N Korea (who have deep and wide economic potential) cannot be under-estimated.

Just harping on the $20 million for hosting the Summit - is really 5 cents, 10 cents --- show pettiness, short-sightedness and poor vision.
