Why should the US PAY for the NK. They themselves should pay for it.

Singapore has not said anything. So I dont think Singapore will pay for it.
Unless that fat and short boy approach Singapore. This is really said. A head of state has no money to foot his and his entourage bills.

US should not pay for NK to avoid US citizen complains. Third Country like Singapore will be good to settle NK bill. This event is not happening every year, only once in your life time. This is also NOT Money can buy event if Singapore do not have the ability to do it. Cheers Singapore ! Give a Good Show. Money No Problem la......

This is a friendship that Singapore can extend to N Korea to coax N Korea to re-embrace the World Economic Community.

I think it is a small price to pay for doing so - for World Peace, for future prosperity for N Korea.

In political term - the message for Singapore domestic taxpayers - if N Korea one day successfully denuke and re-join the World Economic Community - Singapore can be a good and trusted Economic partner with N Korea in trade, business and investment.

And if the Singapore domestic taxpayers still not happy and make noise for having to foot the bill for the summit ---- the following is the calculaton to make local taxpayers happy.

Estimated bill for the 5 day stay - about $1.5 million.

Estimated 3,000 overseas media delegates will spend about $1,500 per day.
= 3000 person x $1,500 per day x 5 days x 7% GST = $1,575,000 GST collected.

So local Taxpayers for making noise - the expenses will be covered by GST collected - about break even.

So all now happy?
Anymore complaints?

Also Medicorps is the sole broadcast right to broadcast this historic events - and will also be reaping revenue by selling it to worldwide broadcasters - that can recover the summit cost --- so not much loss to Singapore domestic taxpayers who are making noise.

Also Singapore is selling medallion peace coin - gold, silver, nickel --- can also earn some money to cover the summit cost.

Singapore mint say that all have been sold out --- and 3,000 more will be produced --- as there are high demand from overseas and local buyers for this medallion peace coin.

This will more than cover the Summit cost.

Actually to the Singapore domestic taxpayers who are making big noise ---- we gain from the Summit - whether in terms of money gain, in terms of contribution to World Peace, in terms of reputation as a mediation centre for economic and security gateway for East and West.

So this is a strategic State Affairs --- how come local taxpayers --- only think of "5 cents, 10 cents" --- short-sighted, no far-reaching strategic vision?

Ricky Lim are u sure maths works that way? (On your computation of media delegates hotel spending)
LikeReply42m

Ricky Lim ·

Tan Koo Koo - Firstly, it based on estimation of media delegates that have registered with Singapore.
Secondly, the estimation of $1,500 per day - is based on the average of MICE delegates spend per day on hotel and other services.
Thirdly, it is simple math ---- so wonder which part of the math don't work this way?

Also there are other revenues that will be generated - which i mention, broadcast right, medallion coin.

I have not mention other revenues like air fare revenue etc - and others that is not included in the calculation.

All these are small revenue gain and small expenses --- for a big cause --- which is meant for domestic unhappy taxpayers.

So which part of the maths are not correct?

Pinky: We will foot the bill. It is an honor (to get cosy with the commies). I believe my people will be glad to do that! They voted for me too. Hehehe!

To host this summit is to show the rest of the world what we are capable of.
We must not think negative but think forward and positive that the summit will bring us exposure.

If I am not wrong should Singapore end up paying it will be like the rest of visiting foreign dignitaries that we host.
Unless they are here on private visit it will be n their own account but official visit it should be under the government budget for hosting visiting diplomats n head of states.

In Malaysia once you are already a Datuk you can afford to pay for anything under the Sun. You will have a share in every business.Just sit in the office and collect your dues every month and fat bonus every year. So are the Ministers. Najib and Rosmah can afford more than those miserable hotel bills.

This is a proud moment for Singapore to be able to help out as a part contributor to world peace and we hope these two countries will never have to go to war to settle thing as that will surely mean disaster for the world including Singapore and others.
Hopefully our goodwill can generate better ties between North Korea and Singapore. Both countries become greater friends.
Now the North Korean will get to know that little red dot a lot better when they see us on their TV screen and maybe to many for the first time. Hopefully we can do a lot of business with them should this country open up their economy to the world in future. Imagine how wonderful when Singapore business man meet their counterpart in N korea cause we need no introduction, they already know the country you come from.
With open heart the world can welcome the return of the prodigal son. All fingers crossed.

If N Korea successfully denuke and concentrate on Economic Development - N Korea has very wide and deep potential.

Just look at their
(1) missile development and nuclear technology,
(2) their own smartphone and telecomm development,
(3) their army assets
(4) their cyber and IT capabilities

--- they are doing all these with their internal resources with very little help.

Their human resources, big country, rich material resources --- will have very deep and wide potential for economic development if they open up and concentrate on Economic development.

In short and medium term - they can be like Vietnam economic development - and contribute substantially to Asia Pacific and Global Economy.
