MFA said both men also looked forward to the conclusion of the China-Singapore Free Trade Agreement upgrade this year and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership trade pact as soon as possible.

The ministry noted that this would send a strong signal of Singapore and China’s joint commitment to free trade.

--
Eagerly waiting for the announcement of the conclusion of CSFTA and RCEP ---- this will signal the success of the FTA and the largest multi-lateral trade deal in Asia Pacific.

Sending a good signal to trade protectionists.

Singapore will always try to build up friendships with those who sincerely wish us well and not undermine our democracy - including countries such as Japan, India, Indonesia, South Korea, Thailand and Bangladesh in Asia, as well as countries in the EU, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, Saudi Arabia, etc., and of course the USA farther afield

Singapore should do more than just reaffirming our long standing friendship with China...do more than just improving economic cooperations with China or just promising to support the B & R projects.

PEACE in the South China Sea is vital to our trade with China (with other East Asian countries), vital for our prosperity...vital for a good future....is vital for Singapore and for ALL in ASEAN..

As the chair of ASEAN this year, Singapore should take positive actions on behalf of ASEAN...to discourage the USA from taking provocative actions...(such as US battleships sailing repeatedly into China's territorial waters)... challenging PLA navy to a fight ...which could easily turn into a devastating war in Southeast Asia.

Peace is very, very important to us, peace is life to us...
We don't want to suffer death and destruction ... like the unfortunate people in Syria, in Iraq, in Afghanistan or in Ukraine.. their suffering and death caused by wars started by the USA.

Jm Chow, the United Nations has already ruled that China illegally occupied the South China Sea islands. So why don't you accept this legal fact? Are you an agent for China? At least 5 nations in ASEAN want China to get out - Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia. If you are a true Singaporean, you should be supporting our nearest neighbours. Or is it because you are racially Chinese that you are supporting China? If that is the case, then you are a dirty racist pig.

Yes. China is not playing ball with international law in this instance. Rather play big bully. Must give in to big bully? Peace needs all parties.
