Previous negotiations with Pyongyang have ultimately foundered. Six-party talks, grouping the two Koreas, Russia, China, Japan and the US, and offering the North security and economic benefits in exchange for denuclearisation, broke down almost a decade ago.
Yet Cheong Seong Chang of Sejong Institute think tank said the latest visit had produced "a very important breakthrough."
While cautioning that the definition of "military threats" the North wanted to see removed was "up for interpretation," he believed Washington and Pyongyang "would soon begin serious dialogue."

The serious dialogue must produce a "Permanent Peace in Korean Peninsula" once and for all - and must not let it breakdown anymore - that lead to vicious cycle of confrontation and agony.

The denuke talk must be irreversible and the World Community must provide security assurance to N Korea and will not threaten the Government and its people.

And the World Community must provide real and positive Economic development into N Korea, as well as business opportunities to N Korea to allow it to survive and thrive economically - and the most important systematic lifting of economic sanctions.

Only if the above are planned and implemented - will eventual and permanent Peace be possible to finally arrive and mark the end of hostility in Korean Peninsula.

And the most important, signed a Peace Treaty to replace the Truce Treaty - to signal the end of war between S Korea and N Korea.
