As a result of that research, Hawking proposed a model of the universe based on two concepts of time: "real time", or time as human beings experience it, and quantum theory's "imaginary time", on which the world may really run.
"Imaginary time may sound like science fiction ... but it is a genuine scientific concept," he wrote in a lecture paper.

Stephen Hawking above 2 concepts correspond to Buddhism's dualistic concept of 色 & 空 (Form vs Formless).

Heart Sutra say "色 = 空 (Form = Formless), 空 = 色 (Formless = Form)"

Diamond Sutra say "一却有唯法,如梦幻泡影“ (Life is nothing but a dream).

So was Albert Einstein passion for Buddhism and its teachings. Today we present you Einstein’s world famous quotes on Buddhism that will be of a great value to understand how much the Buddhism was close to Einstein’s heart.

Albert Einstein’s quotes on Buddhism

1) “Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: It transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural and spiritual; and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things, natural and spiritual, as a meaningful unity.

2) “If there is any religion that would cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism.

3) “A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us.

4) Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”

5) The religion of the future will be a cosmic religion. It should transcend personal God and avoid dogma and theology. Covering both the natural and the spiritual, it should be based on a religious sense arising from the experience of all things natural and spiritual as a meaningful unity. Buddhism answers this description. If there is any religion that could cope with modern scientific needs it would be Buddhism. (Albert Einstein)

6) ” Among the founders of all religions in this world, I respect only one man — the Buddha. The main reason was that the Buddha did not make statements regarding the origin of the world. The Buddha was the only teacher who realised the true nature of the world.” (Bertrand Russell)

7) “A human being is part of the whole, called by us ‘Universe’; a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely but striving for such achievement is, in itself, a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”

Nirvana (涅槃)is a verifiable Spiritual Phenomenon - experienced when attaining Enlinghtenment (悟道) --- where a diagramatic symbol that best described this phenomenon is the "Dharma Wheel" - 法轮 ----- a massive matter and spiritual transformation from mundane (世间法)to supramundane (出世间法)。

Mundane (世间法) phenomenon that mirror a Nirvana (涅槃) phenomenon ---- is a "Black Hole" with SuperNova massive explosion and form the Universe ---- akin to centre axis of Dharma Wheel explode into a full blown Dharma Wheel.

Nirvana (涅槃) phenomenon massive Body Matter transformation (of Emptiness) and Spiritual Mental transformation (of Emptiness) are :-
(1) 四大皆空 (4 Great Element Emptiness) - 土,火,水,气 (Matter, Temperatures, Water, Air)
(2) 五蕴皆空 (5 Mental Aggregate Emptiness) - 意 ,受,想,行,识 (Consciousness, Feelings, Perception, Judgement, Mental Formation).

Divinity has no beginning no end.
Universe has no beginning no end.

They are an endless loop ---- hence "creation of Universe" does not arise.

Eg in math formula :-

0, 0.000001 ...............0.99999 - 1 Universe
1, 1.000001 ............... 1.99999 - 2 Universe
.................... 99999999999999 - Infinite Universe and back to zero.

Hence endless loop ---- no beginning no end - for Divinity, for Universe.

The formation of say the 1st Universe - is actually a Universe in Black Hole (which is a Universe in demise).

When there is a concept of beginning and end ---- it means "Law of Impermanent" - mundane - subject to birth, death and rebirth.

When there is no concept of beginning and end - it means "Law of Permanent" - beginningless, endless - no birth, no death - Eternal --- DIVINITY !!!

When asked whether God had a place in his work, Hawking once said: "In a way, if we understand the universe, we are in the position of God."
--
A say "God create Universe. Thus there is beginning (God) and there is an end (Universe)".

B ask "Then who create God?"

A say "......... oh God exist by itself".

B say "Then there must be a beginning, a space for God to exist by itself. So before God, there must be a beginning before God can exist."

A say "Sounds right"

B say "It is not right. Because for Space to exist before God, there must be something else that exist before space before space can exist. And before space space that exist, there must be something else".

Hence, there is "No beginning, No end".

Thus there is always dualistic - Matter & Mental -- where matter can be void, space or black hole.

Matter and Mental 色 & 空 always exist at the same time - to form the endless loop - to form the beginningless and endless.
