Sometimes, taking and transmitting the video / photo could contribute to the chances of letting the law enforcers to have a clearer view, in having the area under control.

The last thing the police want is that a special force is coming down from road A - and is being video and put in social media - which will alert the terrorists and they ambush the special forces.

The police will have sufficient video clips, drones etc to get enough information to storm the area.

Hopefully the public won't jeoparised police operation and give unnecessary tips to terrorists to jeopardise the police operation.

Tips could also be given when the police might not have primary information as compared to the victims at the scene.

KT Tan - Terrorists communicate via handphone - whether whatsapp or telegram or phone call.

By cutting comms, terrorists cannot communicate, cannot see live feeds, cannot see videos of police ops --- and thus they will be isolated and can be taken down easily.

When terrorists has comm, they can coordinate attacks which can be more devastating.

There is also a down side. If information cannot be spread around easily, more people will unkowingly enter the danger zone and be harmed.
Furthermore, nowadays terrorist attacks do not happend all at 1 location, it is better for information to be diseminated quickly and more people be alerted.

Before the CSO is order, the terrorism acts will have already happen for awhile - where communication still can be made.

When the CSO is issue,

Areas will have already been cordoned by the police and cannot easily enter into the area of operations.

When police is mounting an ops, the last thing that police wants - are public filming police cars, special forces carrying what type of equipment, how forces are deployed, which routes they take etc - and post them in to social media - where terrorists can see online and can respond.
