I feel that it is Singapore honour to be able to host 2 SuperPowers - China and US concurrently.
In the event that something turn ugly in this region, Singapore will be able to play a pivotal role to prevent the 2 SuperPowers from "locking horn" - and instead help to diffuse any tension arising.

Ultimately, Defense cooperation is to prevent war, not about winning war - because in the era of "nuclear weapons" - no one will win war - all will lose in the context of MAD (Mutual Assured Destruction).
Thus, Singapore though a "little red dot" - can play a pivotal role to prevent both SuperPowers from "locking horn" - but instead help both SuperPowers to emphatise, collaborate and work for peace and prosperity.

Short answer is if they lock horns, the collateral damage will probably kill us anyway. So it's in our vested interested to help wherever we can.
This General Chang also seemed extremely friendly to Singapore. The last time Dr. Ng was in China, he was also receive well by him

Keith Ng - Yes Singapore can do it, because in the past, during Obama Administration time, we have done it - by urging both China and US to engage in every levels - political, economic and even military. I recall it was about 2nd or 3rd years when President Obama was in office. I think around 2004, 05 or 06 in his 1st term or not sure in his 2nd term 2011, 12 or 13- can't find the text that i wrote.
It was found in our PM Lee's speech 1 or 2 days later. Mr Ng Eng Hen is our Minister of Defense at that time.
Both President Xi and President Obama responded and did it. Since then, a solid relationship between China and US was established at every level and in political, economic, social and after awhile in military space.
And Asia Pacific has been quite calm even though there are some maritime dispute in Asia Pac.

Singapore should look into buying Chinese or Russian arms because American arms are getting expensive. All their allies are being fleeced, like S Korea and Japan in buying F35. They have no choice, that is the price you pay as ally of USA. We can consider the Russian SU35 if it is much cheaper. No country in Asean is buying F35, do not take the lead and start a race. We do not need F35 . One F35 can build one township in Bidadari.

Can you integrate 2 totally different system together?
It will be a case where both sides will not reveal the code for integration.
Then 2 separate not integrated system how to operate?
This is a practical problem.
Unless the weapon systems do not need to integrate with existing system.

Singapore 'seriously evaluating' future F-35 jet purchase - Lockheed executive
SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The Singapore government is "seriously evaluating" a future purchase of F-35 jets, the head of Lockheed Martin Corp's international business said on Thursday.
"They, I think, are seriously evaluating the F-35, as well as other platforms I'm sure," Lockheed International Executive Vice President Rick Edwards told Reuters at the Singapore Airshow. "When they are ready we will respond."
He said initial discussions with the government centred on the F-35B version short take-off and landing variant, which he described as "a nice fit for a smaller land-constrained environment".
A U.S. Marine Corps F-35B is on display at the island nation's airshow.
Singapore Chief of Air Force Mervyn Tan said the country was studying the F-35 as part of its long-term planning, the Straits Times reported on Monday.
Other F-35 customers in Asia include Australia, Japan and South Korea.
