The doctored headline is also factual, so what is the issue again?

(1) He doctor the headline of a news - and change the headline without permission and pass it as though it is a legitimate news. This is illegal.
(2) The headline he make carry innuendos :-
(a) Any who read the news will interpret as "Because PAP MP is the lawyer, the Court give a lenient sentence" ---- this infringe "Contempt of Court" - where the Court is acting within the purview given by the law.
(b) Any who read the news call into question that "PAP MP" has stronger muscle - and this will smear the integrity and reputation of the Party - as abusing the power ---- where in actual fact the PAP MP as lawyer is only carrying out his professional duty as a lawyer.

Don't believe you ask the chap that doctored the headlines --- are the above his true intention?
He probably say "yes" --- and I believe you are of the same opinion.
Unless you say that PAP MP must give up their job as lawyer - because Court will "give face" to PAP MP lawyer everytime he appear in Court.
Than PAP MP lawyer cannot practice "eat what" - eat grass?

Then it will come to a point whereby no one will join politics because :-
accountant, lawyer, businessman, ceos, doctors etc all must lose their jobs to become MPs.
Then Singapore will be dead - when no one become MPs.
How about oppositions who have few lawyers as MPs - you mean they also cannot practise and just rely on allowances?
It simply does not make sense.

Ricky Lim which law exactly criminalise photoshoping a news headline? At most it is a private copyright issue.
Facts are facts. You can't extrapolate from facts to dream up a whole suite of accusations. If so everyone who has ever written something like: "LHL became PM when LKY was SM" have committed crime too.

Innuendo is a legal concept that is related to tort and personal injury law. The word is derived from innuere, the Latin word that means to nod forward. In legal terms, innuendo is used in a lawsuit to describe defamation from libel or slander.
Innuendo typically refers to a condition where a person explains a factual situation, yet an incorrect interpretation is derived from it.

Ricky Lim Law is a common sense thing, not quantum physics. In which universe is a mere statement of a known fact a crime? Reminds me of the fairy tale of the emperor without clothes. By your logic the boy who shouted to the emperor that the emperor is naked is now a criminal? I fail to see the logic.

Kerry Lymo - you check with a lawyer about inneundo before you comment.
It is originated from the English law.
Anyone can sue you under this law - if you defame using inneundo.
And this is a classic case of inneundo.

Ricky Lim No this is not. The doctored headline can also be interpreted in a positive light for PAP. Some people interpret it as implying that PAP has very qualified lawyers as MPs. As most people know, good lawyers are able to find an angle to argue a difficult case. Furthermore this is the chinese tabloid news, with a reputation to sensationalise headlines, so who gave a real hoot?
However the action of AGC to threaten the author and site administrator basically turned the table against the PAP. From a little known facebook posting, it blows up into national news, highlight the exact negative angle that PAP sought to squash. This is bad PR, absolutely unwarranted self sabotage. I wonder if the leaders know how petty and dumb they look if they continue over-reacting in this manner? The last memorable case was against Amos Yee.

Kerry Lymo - very simple, if that guy who doctored has no intention to defame through inneundo, he will not have apologised.
If Facebook administrators don't feel the same, they won't have to apologise.
As for yourself, i don't wish to go on and on with you - because you know yourself best. I don't intend to second guess you.
