So how many billions did taxpayers lose from frequent train breakdowns?

Albert Chia my point is simple actually. If a minister is being paid millions to do his job, then being prudent with taxpayers money is an obligation and part of the job scope, not something to trumpet about. We should be worried if the implication is that "I am doing taxpayers a favour by being prudent with their money"

Sharing of depots maybe good idea. But not sharing of toilets, some public service e.g. hospitals having single toilet for both gender use.

We see a lot of vehicles at East Coast Parks too. The car parks there needs to go multi-stories too due to land scarce! Perhaps build underground car parks! Also put more public buses to cut down the jams and vehicles on weekends! More buses on weekdays too!

What saving taxpayers $2 billion!! Isn't that is what exactly he should be doing to justify for his fat pay??? Now he is saying that he is doing us a favour through careful planning thus saving billions of our taxpayers' money. Woowww...how arrogant can he be!!!

Is Min Khaw thinking we the people are FOOLS ?

Who wouldn't know....it is cheaper to buy one big house for my self and my three sons (at $3 millions)...than to buy four houses (at total cost of $5 millions) to live separately.

Have I saved $2 millions....in buying the big house? NO.
I've have spent less on housing.
Spending less is NOT equal to saving money...(putting hard cash in my saving bank.)
"Saving" is the saleman's talk...to fool my wife. Min. Khaw can not fool us.

It is this type of muddle thinking...that has resulted in frequent train breakdowns....and horrible train service to the commuters. Wasting millions of dollars on consultants... on experts ...and on 'system upgrade' ....but failing to stop the frequent train breakowns...is not equal to improving the poor quality of train service. It is a waste of money.

There is nothing wrong sharing both good news and bad news - in the era of transparency.
(1) When there is good news, credit should be given when due - and this means taxpayers will pay less tax.
(2) When there is bad news, then solutions must be found - to prevent any faults, disruptions or breakdown.

It is not like, with bad news - damn.
With good news - also damn.

It is actually ok to share good news. What is NOT ok, however is how it was done. Nothing wrong with saying LTA managed to save 2 billion by doing such and such. But it is wrong to phrase it in a manner to imply that he is doing taxpayers a favour. It is the same as that Indonesian minister saying Singaporeans did not thank them for the days of clean air. That is how ridiculous it sounds, and smacks of sheer arrogance.

Rant and rant. Perhaps just do it quietly. Tax payer money is no more our money and what rights we have to determine how money is spent.
