As boreholes are being drilled and the people conducting the investigations move about at the reserve, it will cause tensions among the territorial animals there, said NSS spokesperson Anthony Dempsey.
“During the soil investigation, the animals are going to scatter, and they don’t just disappear, there’s a limit to where they can go due to the fragmentation of the nature reserve. When they scatter, they end up in each other’s territory,” Dempsey said.
I am not convinced that during soil test, when people move around the reserve, the animals will scatter and cause harm to them.
Now at the reserve, every morning and evening - there are so many joggers and adventurous groups running up and down the reserve end to end in big numbers. How come this animals are not scattered and get harm?
How come only a small group of people conducting soil test underground and some people walking on top of the reserve will cause harm to the animals?
NSS fear is just hypothetical - and this hypothetical worry which may not cause any harm to the animals - will not justified to waste an additional $2 billion to skirt the reserve.
$2 billion is a big sum of money that can be used to help alot of Singaporeans.

Do you know what $2 billion can do to Singapore?
(1) Can build 20 desalination plant to provide drinking water to 6 million Singaporeans.
(2) Can build 10,000 HDB flats for Singaporeans.
(3) Can help 166,667 low income Singaporeans without going hungry.
Will NSS foot the additional $2 billion bill to skirt around - and protect the hypothetical (but not proven harm) to some monkeys and pangolins - just because some people walk around the reserves to do some soil test.
How does NSS answer why these animals are not harmed when so many joggers and adventurous groups walk in and out of the reserves?

The water catchment area have people organising carnivals and water sport events such as canoeing - how come never see fish, crocodiles, tadpoles scattering all over the place?
The reservoir have people organising musical show, dancing, drum beating --- how come never see animals scattering and running all over the reserves to escape from the noise?
How come only a small group of people doing some soil test can cause harm to the animals?
And cause additional $2 billion just to skirt around?
Think money fall from the sky, dig from the ground or grow on a tree ah?

Can NSS explain thousands of people run in and out of the reserves every week ---- how come the animals still did not scattered, get shock and kick the bucket?
What make NSS think that a small group of people move around quietly to do some soil test can harm the animals, scattered, shock and kick the bucket?

Few years ago, major construction works take place to build the multi-storey car park at the reserves.
Heavy vehicles, plants and piling making noises happen at the reserves - how come the animals did not scattered, get shock and kick the bucket.
How a small group of people doing some soil test can cause the animals to get scattered, get shock and kick the bucket?
