Close political ties and close military ties & communication channels are very important to prevent unfortunate incidents and to prevent incidents from escalating.
Honestly the landscape is abit gloomy - seems like :-
- the shadow of Cold War syndrome in the Baltic.
- the shadow of WW2 syndrome in the Asia Pacific region
are emerging.

If the World undertake conscious effort to chase away the 2 shadows - then mammoth human catastrophe can be prevented.
