[12:00 pm, 11/04/2020] : Dear REACH contributors,
Welcome back to our discussion ๐Ÿ˜€
Our chat will be open till 10pm today.
Thank you for sharing your views :)
REACH notes the feedback given on our WhatsApp chats, and conveys this to the relevant authorities for consideration.
๐Ÿ“ขTopic๐Ÿ“ข
Yesterday, PM Lee urged older Singaporeans to stay at home for their own safety during this "circuit breaker" period.
How can we encourage more seniors to stay at home? How can the community provide support to seniors during this period?

Now the advisory seems to be:-
1. Go NTUC - wear a washable mask.
2. Go market - wear a washable mask.
3. Take public transport - wear a washable mask.

David Murugan
[12:10 pm, 11/04/2020] : That means simply put on mask when step out of home?

[12:11 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: Almost as good as making it compulsory.

David Murugan

[12:11 pm, 11/04/2020] : When news come out? Never see lei. I thought market only from tomorrow?

[12:12 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Yes you are right.
For market is tommorrow.

David Murugan
[12:12 pm, 11/04/2020] : Public Transport one is from when?

[12:14 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Today REACH advisory.
If not can ask the PT expert here.

David Murugan
[12:14 pm, 11/04/2020] : That means NTUC,  Market, Public Transport all have to wear mask from tomorrow? Compulsory?

David Murugan
[12:17 pm, 11/04/2020] : Thanks but is it true that all taking public transport must wear ๐Ÿ˜ท?

Blue and White Flag Guy
[12:18 pm, 11/04/2020] : It's not mandated under PT, even everyone I called yesterday were equally confused but let's not think too much, just wear it.
But of course when you wear it, you have to know how to use it properly so you don't end up contaminating yourself :)

XaniceAfcai
[12:18 pm, 11/04/2020] : Advisable to wear to protect oneself n others.

Blue and White Flag Guy
[12:18 pm, 11/04/2020] : NTUC and Market is compulsory. What about public transport?  When will they mandate ir?

[12:26 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
In NTUC and markets if no mask cannot enter.
As good as compulsory.
Not sure about PT.

Blue and White Flag Guy
[12:27 pm, 11/04/2020] : I'd say it's still on an advisory note, not a requirement at the moment
[12:28 pm, 11/04/2020] : But please please please wear a mask, don't tell me not effective, you know how to wear, how to remove can liao

It is not one person own problem.

Ron Ho
[12:45 pm, 11/04/2020] : You will see about 10% refusing to wear a mask for whatever reason they claim. Unless it is a law, no one can make it 99.99% effective. For this, I have to say Task Force taking a lame approach.

Desmond
[1:21 pm, 11/04/2020] : Apologies to off topics...

Google and Apple are announcing a joint effort to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies reduce the spread of the virus, with user privacy and security central to the design.
https://www.apple.com/covid19/contacttracing/

[8:20 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
(1) Like I say before, I am not against TraceTogether mobile apps to do contract tracing - as long as the security is assured - in this respect, the Bluetooth security.

(2) Until and unless I am assured about the Bluetooth security is not compromise, then I will consider using TraceTogether bluetooth apps.

(3) If you read carefully Google and Apple joint statement - it says a joint effort to enable the use of Bluetooth technology to help governments and health agencies reduce the spread of the virus, with "user privacy and security central to the design".

(4) This statement also imply the Bluetooth security - is their main concern - and is making effort to tighten it before used.

(5) And honestly, security organisation are also looking into the security vulnerability of Bluetooth security.

(6) Western Countries (like France and US) don't want to use mobile signals - not because they are not effective - but because people are paranoid about their privacy and their personal movement being tracked by mobile signals.

(7) China, SKorea and Taiwan are using mobile signal effectively in their contact tracing via mobile signals - as there are no hoo-haa by the public of their personal movement being tracked.

[6:16 pm, 11/04/2020] : Foreign domestic workers must stay home on rest days, says MOM
https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/coronavirus-foreign-domestic-workers-must-stay-home-on-rest-day-says-mom

[7:26 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Joint contribution with my close friend :-

(1) Looking at the number of unlinked cases every day eg. 71 yesterday, 48 cases the day before, with so many foreign workers in the dorm that risk infection and new clusters forming ----  cheap rapid tests become an important part of the effort to tackle local transmission and community spreading.

(2) In total, Singapore has conducted 72,680 tests to date up to yesterday - via lab test that usually need at least 1 day to know the result.

(3) With rapid test kit, a blood test for antibodies - it can provide result within 10 minutes (that will greatly speed up the test).

(4) In addition, the test kit is relatively cheaper - and has been approved in various Countries like China, EU, Philippines and waiting for approval in US.

(5) This test kit is overseen by HSA and is 95% accurate and can greatly speed up testing where asymptomatic cases are suspected. Once tested positive, the person in question can be sent to hospital for further investigation. This will help reduce silent community spread

(6) The rapid tests also means we can open our border. Passengers who arrive at sg has to be subjected to the test a and arrest infected passengers early. This is to complement the SHN versus a total denial of travellers.

(7) With reference to Diamond Princess cruise cases, a total of 712 cases are infected out of  3000+ passengers and crew. If we don't have rapid tests of all fw to speedily isolate the infected ones, then the dorms are like diamond princess cruise ship cases. A good 20% infected. It was also reported that 18% of the infected has no symptoms. Every 10000 fw, means 2000 infected. Now 5 dorms have been gazetted as isolation facilities.
Without rapid test and swift segregation, will we be facing a prospect of 10000 cases?

(8) Looking at our  14 day recovery it does not look promising - we should be looking at 844 discharged instead of 492 discharged as per yesterday.
Early detection and fast treatment will bring better recovery rate.

[7:34 pm, 11/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: Cambridge University published a paper yesterday, thinking that the new coronavirus type A is the root cause of the virus outbreak, and the type A appears in the United States and Australia. The virus that appears in Wuhan belongs to the type B, which is derived from the type A mutation.
This paper was published in the Proceedings of the American Academy of Sciences. If the conclusion is true, it is a blessing for Chinese and global Chinese.

Cambridge University published a research report on several variants and transmission routes of the new coronavirus.

The report pointed out that the new coronavirus is divided into three variants: A, B, C. Type A viruses are more commonly found in infected people in the United States and Australia. There are only a few cases of Class A in Wuhan, and they come from Americans who have lived in Wuhan. Type A is most similar to viruses extracted from bats and pangolins. Researchers call the class A virus "the root of the outbreak" ("the root of the outbreak").

Type B strains are the main type in China (ie Wuhan) and have not spread out of East Asia.

Class C viruses are the main type in Europe. Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea all have this type. It was not found in mainland China.

The researchers believe that strain C type evolved from B, and type B evolved from A.

The research methods used by the researchers have previously been mainly used to track the movement of prehistoric people through DNA research. This is the first time it has been used to track the propagation path of the new coronavirus (“These technologies” are most known known for mapping ”the movements of prehistoric human population populations through DNA. coronavirus like COVID-19. ”)
