[10:37 am, 05/04/2020] : Reach, frankly this Stay Home period gives one an opportunity to do personal housekeeping. Go through clothes, collections, personal artifacts, books, files, videos, pictures and sort, discard, repack and get into efficient mode. Sell off some when time is right. Also good time to do house cleaning. But was at Marsiling market and North Point yesterday to do errands. Noticed only 20-30%of people masked and rest don't bother. I suspect many contagion from asythomatic people may be occurring in these areas which are crowded. Hence, I am confident shutting non essential retail businesses will help. But more needs to be done by government to get people to don masks while moving in crowded places like markets, trains, busses. I personally feel our Covid-19 task force took a lame approach going from Mask only when sick to We encourage you to wear masks. I want a stronger approach like NO MASK NO ENTRY for busses and trains. To make this Circuit Breaker work, we must get tougher. Frankly, a circuit breaker shuts the electricity off entirely. Like ELCB.

REACH
[10:38 am, 05/04/2020] : Thank you for your feedback Ron!
(Immediate feedback to task force)

[10:43 am, 05/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Yesterday local transmission is 69.
I strongly urge public to wear mask - washable face masks are good enough.
Else we can flatten the infection curve as the local numbers keep rising every day.

[10:45 am, 05/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ: We can't flatten ....  Not we can flatten...

[10:44 am, 05/04/2020] : And what was once thought impossible is on the verge of being implemented
Remember to always look at the bigger picture :)

Adip
[11:01 am, 05/04/2020] : With all the establishment close, o think people will flocked to Public Beaches & Park. As this is the only entertainment we have.
If this happened the it will be crowded as that is the only place remain open.
Even with measures such at social distancing & wearing mask, the virus can stil be spread if the carrier to touch anything.
I’ll like to suggest the authority close public beaches & parks to deter people from going out.

Ron Ho
[11:09 am, 05/04/2020] : Open places like beach and parks are open places, and best for exercise. Just confine to small groups with social distancing.
[11:11 am, 05/04/2020] : When I was a kid living near Bedok Beach, each time I sense a flu coming, my mother would tell me to go to the sea and swim for at least an hour. The salt water and the sun actually fixed the flu. Mother's advise is worth remembering.

Leonard Lau
[11:14 am, 05/04/2020] : Yes .. I concur .  I am a believer till today . Even Swimming pool if possible sauna would  do the trick

Adip
[11:14 am, 05/04/2020] : Agreed with u, but in no time people will be flocking there especially youngster who will find boredom when staying home.
Some people stil dont practice social distancing & still not wearing mask
If these place to be a cluster, then all our efforts of working from home, HBlL & some of us lose income all effort &  sacrifice will be wasted.

Ron Ho
[11:13 am, 05/04/2020] : History repeats itself.
This poem written in 1869, reprinted during 1919 Pandemic.
This is Timeless....
It was written in 1869 by Kathleen O’Mara:
And people stayed at home
And read books
And listened
And they rested
And did exercises
And made art and played
And learned new ways of being
And stopped and listened
More deeply
Someone meditated, someone prayed
Someone met their shadow
And people began to think differently
And people healed.
And in the absence of people who
Lived in ignorant ways
Dangerous, meaningless and heartless,
The earth also began to heal
And when the danger ended and
People found themselves
They grieved for the dead
And made new choices
And dreamed of new visions
And created new ways of living
And completely healed the earth
Just as they were healed.

Ben Lock
[11:17 am, 05/04/2020] : Are you suggesting curfew with people not allowed at all, other than to the supermarkets, banks and doctor?

Peter T Ng
[11:19 am, 05/04/2020] : Ron, I am persuaded by the messaging all along re mask. Lame may not be the word I'd use to describe the related measure thus far.
Up to this moment the experts are divided. For obvious reasons if you are sick you should wear. Beyond that?
Mandate too early we all face issue of availability and also as time progresses compliance fatigue.
I support the measures thus far. It's good for Gov't to also look at the sentiments on the ground, as had been expressed here re. mask.
I am not persuaded by the efficacy of reusable mask unless N95 certified. So users should not be complacent. It does not substitute washing hands and not touch face, scientifically proven prevention.
As such I will not be collecting the reusable masks this round so those who do not have any mask have it. I will use surgical masks and N95 I have and deplete them. If there's leftover after distribution, I will get mine.
Fellow GRLs and I are distributing the masks in our area starting today. PA folks are also registering TRF applications. If you know of any in financial needs, ask them to stop by while collecting masks.

Ben Lock
[11:21 am, 05/04/2020] : I think the increased measures being introduced next week are necessary to address the increased local transmission we have seen at workplaces, likely PT and other areas of close proximity. I do not think we should stop people going out per se like they have done in some European countries, at this point.

Ben Lock
[11:23 am, 05/04/2020] : However, to prevent such harsh measures being introduced and because we have seen some people are not compliant and could be a cause of spread I do think there should be a hotline and mobile patrols to ensure groups do not form in HDB areas and other places where it is easy to gather.

[11:32 am, 05/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Many people are worried that there are too much crowd in certain areas.
Just noticed that Government has already used satellites and GPS to do crowd mapping.
REACH has just published the URL links for this live satellite images for park and crowded areas to avoid.

Kevinn Wang
[1:39 pm, 05/04/2020] : Think some not get the point yet ... issue here is if there are sizes and stocks available why are ppl getting all small sizes? When feedback resident was advise u go home stretch it cos small mAh how to fit to adult face.

[1:40 pm, 05/04/2020] : When I go wit 2 ic and 1 bc I was push 3 grey mask aka small till I ask what's the diff with the white then only the GOLDEN MOUTH open white is for adult or bigger size grey can fit for kid

Clement Lim
[1:40 pm, 05/04/2020] : We are all volunteers. I never wear mask before, i didn't know got different size until today. ๐Ÿ˜‚
I can understand if some volunteer didnt know got different size.
But if they don't let you choose, pls do let another staff there know.
RC all run by volunteers. There are some ๅฎณ็พคไน‹้ฉฌ. Some black ships

Kevinn Wang
[1:41 pm, 05/04/2020] : Den I was like ehhhh ok den I exchange for 2 white rejected ok I change for 1 deb approved. Hey I got 2 adults and 1 kid clearly den the documents is well seen. Need I say more

Clement Lim
[1:41 pm, 05/04/2020] : But ofc within reason lah. Like if wear alr, cannot change for hygiene reason. But if havent wear yet, n they don't let you, then that is against instructions given. Must be some lazy volunteer. Pls feedback to the staff there and do us all a service. ๐Ÿ˜‚

Clement Lim
[1:42 pm, 05/04/2020] : I cannot defend the behaviour of a black ship. Most of the ppl i volunteer with are there with the right heart and will try our best to assist. But unfortunately, not all are like that

Kevinn Wang
[1:43 pm, 05/04/2020] : Agree if open cannot change like underwear purchase... Hope this is a note will be share to all, keep extra also useless.

[2:11 pm, 05/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Collected from cc.
A bit small but still can fit.
When you all collect ask for the right size.
Some are for adults, some for children.

Richard Wong
[2:13 pm, 05/04/2020] : Since volunteers and full time staff wear the same uniform , I would suggest in future  exercises that there should be different t shirt for volunteers , permanent staff and PA so should the public encounter any problems , the public would be able to look for the right person to provide the feedback . Some volunteers may not be well versed or just ripe in to help . I volunteered in one of the hospital and we worn a badge which clearly state we are volunteers ! So whenever visitors asked me for something which I don’t know , I will just apologised and show them my badge that I am a volunteer .

Kevinn Wang
[4:06 pm, 05/04/2020] : See now it happen frm Face book--------
Just collected the reusable masks from Compassvale RC. No indication of Adults or Children size on the packaging. I was there to collect 3 adult size masks. When I was about to leave, a woman who has collected the masks earlier, opened up and compared the sizes. She realised that there’s an obvious difference in size and requested for a change. I too requested for a change of mask because RC members gave me 3 children size by mistake. When I approached the attendants, one of them asked me to try wearing the mask and that if the size did not fit me, I will be entitled to an exchange.
What worries me is that if everyone exchanged the mask after fitting, won’t the spread of Covid be worsened? Please check that you have received the right size masks before leaving the venue.

[4:07 pm, 05/04/2020] : Common sense open and test cannot change ....why still encourage ppl to test

Rama
[4:07 pm, 05/04/2020] : Idiots volunteer

It is time for Government to mandate all going out to public is compulsory to wear mask. ๐Ÿ˜ท
This local transmission will cause infection curve to spillover.

[7:43 pm, 05/04/2020] ☸️  Danny ๅฟƒ:
Today when I go out to buy lunch and dinner, only 20% to 30% of people are wearing masks.
Singaporeans just are not treating local transmission seriously.
Only a mandatory measures can get all people to wear mask when going out to the public.

Ben Lock
[9:19 pm, 05/04/2020] : I'm trying to understand the quarantine of the dorms. Preumably the sick people are moved out, but it's likely there are infected people still inside who are mot showing symptons yet. Does this mean eventually all the people inside get infected?

Suma

[9:23 pm, 05/04/2020] : So I want to know the truth and don't want to believe those type of comments

Clement Lim
[9:41 pm, 05/04/2020] : No. Dormitory is not a ship (like that Diamond Princess) which is crammed, re-circulated air etc.
In this case, govt is moving some people out to ensure that there is enough space in the dormitory so that social distancing and other precautions can be done.
They said that food will be provided for them - i will not be surprised if food is sent to every room. This ensures that fewer ppl get infected; while at the same time, this is contained and will not spread to the wider community

Evonne
[9:42 pm, 05/04/2020] : have you ever been to a dormitory to experience it on your own

Clement Lim
[9:42 pm, 05/04/2020] : The ideal is 1 person 1 room, but not enough room for you. So the next best thing is to isolate individual rooms.
[9:43 pm, 05/04/2020] : Thats why govt is moving people out. The agencies are having a headache finding rooms for a few thousands workers now
[9:44 pm, 05/04/2020] : The plan is to reduce number of ppl in the dormitory to ensure more space
[9:45 pm, 05/04/2020] : My neighbour works at one of the agencies. Hes damn stressed cos have to relocated about 20k workers and he is having a headache finding rooms for 20k ppl ๐Ÿ˜‚

Evonne
[9:46 pm, 05/04/2020] : relocate these people? cmon lahs. it's not possible
[9:46 pm, 05/04/2020] : they are QUARANTINED WITHIN
[9:46 pm, 05/04/2020] : not moving out
[9:46 pm, 05/04/2020] : i work with dormitories very closely

Kelvin Law
[9:49 pm, 05/04/2020] : I hope SPF is on standby for this.  I cannot imagine 20,000 workers going on a riot.  May have to standby the armed forces as well.

Ben Lock
[9:49 pm, 05/04/2020] : Is it possible to provide clarity over the plan for 20k workers in dormitories. How many are in 1 room, how are they being looked after (medical, food, sanitation, exercise etc)

Evonne
[9:49 pm, 05/04/2020] : i can tell you the breakdown for S11 Punggol
[9:50 pm, 05/04/2020] : 12 pax per room
[9:50 pm, 05/04/2020] : their rooms are ranging from between 10-12pax per room*
[9:51 pm, 05/04/2020] : BCA Approved for 12pax

Clement Lim
[9:51 pm, 05/04/2020] : There are precautions in place for them. Including on site medical help and all.

https://www.cnn.com/2020/04/04/asia/taiwan-coronavirus-response-who-intl-hnk/index.html
John Hopkins U recognize Taiwan as Best in Class. They ramped up face mask mfg early, to support their people n put in 124 measures to fight Covid19. Our Covid c'ttee pale in comparison. Now Taiwan with 24M population has less cases than Australia. Twn <400 Aust about 5000; 10 times higher.
[10:13 pm, 05/04/2020] : ๐Ÿ‘๐ŸปGood article. I think that we can further decrease the risk of infection if people wear mask when they r out. Double protection so to speak. We need this to be an official communication so that it is a widespread practice. It isn't now. Today when i was out buying food, only about 20% maybe 30% r wearing. This will not reduce risk by much.

We are not employees of PA. We are not paid to do this. We like you have day jobs, family and concerns too. We try to execute the instructions given by PA.
Given this is unprecedented, there is no manual. The only manual is our labours. Some volunteers for hours on end, and PA staff works beyond those hours.
We are not just busy during distribution. We accompany advisors on visits, until the last couple of weeks. We meet to discuss municipal matters, from that school causing traffic jam, to community gardens, to organise activities for Active Aging.
So, just be cordial.  Feedback is always welcome.
