Welcome back to our discussion :)
Our chat will be open till 10pm today.
📢Topic📢
In response to the new "circuit breaker" measures, our internet infrastructure will be upgraded to improve Internet services in residential areas. More news and entertainment programmes will be also made available free to viewers🙂
Does this news bring you more cheer during this period of "circuit-breaker" measures? What are your plans for this weekend as you spend time at home?

How does upgraded Internet Infrastructure help us to stay home in this circuit breaker duration?

(1) Fiber to the Home (Next generation broadband) is implemented earlier.

(2) Telcos have rolled out fiber to each home and Mediacorps has delivered Digital TV with set-top box and broadband wireless WiFI is included in the bundled digital TV, fixed phones and wifi broadband.
We can see :-
a. Digital TV - through the fiber / set-top box conversion.
b. Received WiFi - for laptop internet surfing and smartphone surfing
c. Fixed phone - can call through the digital fiber

(3) Not sure what additional services are upgraded and provided to us at residential areas.
a. Probably Telco need to upgrade the backend bandwidth by aggregating their bandwidth - due to increase bandwidth demand from home to prevent congestion.

b. Provide more entertainment content to the home eg. more movies or drama serial?

(4) Just hope that redundancy are build into the Internet infrastructure to the home - and will not break down or disrupted - as many people are working at home or receiving digital entertainment from home.
Any internet disruption - will cause people to come out into the street again.

Today Clarke quay not crowded.
So spaceout is working properly.

[2:01 pm, 09/04/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
(1) Actually, keeping the local transmission down is everyone's immediate concern.

(2) With 100 over cases reported everyday that are locally transmitted and 72 unlink cases --- means that there are quite a number of mild asyptomatic cases in our Community that go undetected - but keep spreading the virus around.

(3) Only by keeping them away from the Community - such as stay at home to work or study - and not loitering around until they no longer infectious ---- is the most urgent tasks.

(4) Monitoring crowded areas is one important task - and keeping crowd away from crowded areas once detected crowd is forming.

(5) Yesterday news reported that some patients from private hospitals are moving covid-19 recovering patients to Sing Expo ---- indicates that their facilites are increasingly being overwhelmed --- which is not a good sign.

(6) Also by studying the infection curve, the recovery cases are not catching up with 14 days infected and treated.

(7) So everyone should play a part to do the right things to prevent community spreading and stop local transmission ---- in order for this circuit measures to be successful.

My close friend contribution :-
(1) Attached is an image that shows a nurse who works in healthcare settings.
(Caveat :- unable to determine if the image is real or fake.)

(2) Nevertheless, we are sharing the image to reinforce an important message :-
- to remind everyone frequent and thorough cleansing of hands and face even after people wear mask in public.

- Facial mask is not a silver bullet. Important to wash hands and face thoroughly and frequently.

- Nevertheless unlike a hospital settings where virus load are heavy, we can see the luminous light (are the virus load) that spill onto the nurse forehead, nose bridge and the whole surface area on the face mask.

- However in public, if people meet someone who is sick or asympotmatic - the virus load is not as heavy as in hospital - thus mask is still useful to offer protection though not a silver bullet or foolproof to prevent infection ---- but still useful. So don't forget to wash that washable mask.

My close friend contribution :-
(1) With reference to the attached image, in addition to thoroughly wash the face mask and the face after wearing the face mask, people should also wash their hands thoroughtly with soap or sanitiser.

(2) By washing the hands for at least 30 seconds, will ensure the viruses are properly cleanse.

Still about 50% of people walking on the road don't wear mask.

Wonder what they do with the mask issue by the government, used as decoration?

Now our President, PM and Cabinet Ministers all wear masks.

Wonder why people appearing in public still don't want to wear masks in public when local transmission is so high?

Joint contribution with my close friend :-

(1) Question :-
Wonder why people appearing in public still don't want to wear masks in public when local transmission is so high?

(2) Answer :-
Some people unaware of the dangers, some holding on to older belief (if not medical mask, it's useless), some feel Discomfort wearing it, some refuse to do it as silent protest, and some are self- centred (this is my own business)...

(3) Respond :-
Yes this are all the problems.
That's why if don't legislate this people don't move.
Soft approach don't work on them.
This people don't know that as long as just one person got it, everyone can get it.
And the whole economy is devastated.
And the whole community's lives are at risk.
