[10:01 am, 04/04/2020] : Dear contributors,
Welcome back! Our chat will be open till 10pm today.
REACH is constantly taking note of all the feedback and suggestions shared on our WhatsApp chats, and will send them to relevant authorities for consideration.
πŸ“’ Topic: πŸ“’
How are you preparing for the heightened safe distancing measures that will take place on Tuesday (7 April)?
PM Lee: “Safe-distancing is also hard for a psychological and emotional reason: it goes very much against our human instincts. It is in our nature to want to socialise, to be close to those we are talking to, to take comfort in the warmth and company of friends and family. I fully understand this.
But I hope you will also understand why we all have to take social distancing extremely seriously in this period. This is the only effective way to slow the transmission of the virus, so that we gradually bring our numbers down. It is also the best way to keep our families safe, and particularly to protect our seniors from getting ill.
So please bear with the painful adjustments that we have to make. Each and every one of us can, and must do our part, to keep everyone in Singapore safe from COVID-19.”

COVID-19: Reusable masks for all residents
Wear a mask if you are out and in close contact with others
- There’s possibility of undetected cases in the community
- some evidence that infected persons with no symptoms can pass the virus
Reusable masks complement safe distancing measures
- Protect others from you in case you are infected but unaware
- also some protection for us, especially for those who need to interact with others for work
πŸ₯ With global shortage of masks, surgical masks reserved for healthcare workers and those who are sick
Reusable masks distributed progressively from 5 to 12 Apr
🏠 For all residents with registered home addresses
πŸ“ Collection points at designated CCs and RCs
πŸ‘΅ Priority given to seniors aged 60 and above
πŸ‘¨‍πŸ‘©‍πŸ‘§‍πŸ‘¦  Family or household members can collect on the behalf of other household members, by bringing along their identification (eg. NRIC, Birth Cert)

[10:09 am, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
DSTA engineers rope in by SAF to write apps to extract and fuse data for data analytics to determine the links from suspected infection to their contacts - in contact tracing.

This has the same effect of crowd mapping of mobile signals.

[10:10 am, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Network science, relations map and relationships database can be used to map out how an infected person come into contact with one another.

And a complete picture of how clusters are formed, how unlink cases appear and who they get it from will slowly becoming transparent.

This will make our efforts to fight covid-19 more effective.

This is our original intention right at the start and why we proposed crowd mapping mobile signals - is to develop a model of contact tracing to curb the community spreading using math, science and IT technology.

This will make our efforts more effective.

I think we are going on the right path.

[10:35 am, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Notice that recently new clusters can be identified quickly and unlink cases can be identified linking to new clusters.

Think the relationship map for analysis in contact tracing must be working well to see such effect.

[10:40 am, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Next step is to ensure community follow social distancing guidelines, stay at home, study at home, work at home, put on reusable face mask even when we are well if we need to go out ------ will ensure our circuit breaker can be successful if all do it well together for 1 month.

Today go outside to eat lunch and buy groceries.

Only 30% to 40% put on face masks.

Quite crowded in the coffee shops and NTUC.

See 1 or 2 people cough but did not put on face masks.

Like that how will the circuit breaker be effective?

[3:15 pm, 04/04/2020] :( oh man, that's completely unfair. In the speech yesterday, they highlighted that despite contact tracing, if people lie to the the contact tracers, there's nothing they can do about it.

[3:16 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Use crowd mapping of mobile signal.
Mobile data don't lies.

[3:17 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Now DSTA engineers is automating the extraction and fusion of data.
If people lies in contact tracing - they will be easily get caught.

Desmond
[3:36 pm, 04/04/2020] : Mobile data don lie but hard to provide as a single source of truth... I worked under a prof on indoor location sensing project for 3.5 years also cannot finalize an outcome 🀣

[3:39 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Mobile data is one of the source, not the only source.

But it is the foundation base to start with.

Both China and SKorea use mobile signal pervasively in their contact tracing with very good outcome.

Desmond
[3:42 pm, 04/04/2020] : Was at raffles, just now, ground floor with sky line of sight, never get close to 1m, always a 10m radius and fluctuation of location... maybe iPhone 11 location suck 🀣

[3:43 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Did you zoom in or not?

[3:43 pm, 04/04/2020] : Haha u do know GT is doing the smart lamppost project?

[3:48 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Don't know why your test not accurate.

I have done more tests indoors various floors and outdoors using androids latest version - accuracy up to 1 metre.

Telco base stations, GPS extender etc.

Also China and SKorea actual implementation can't be wrong.

They have more people, higher buildings and larger areas.

And look at their outcomes very good.

[3:50 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: Not only across city, virus spread within 1 meter radius.
[3:53 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: Notice you still can zoom in further.
[3:55 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Important to take the longitude and latitude readings - not only graphical map.
It is the longitude and latitude readings that are useful.

[4:02 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
See the above 2 devices, 1 metre apart indoors at mid level floor in a high rise buildings.
Both using androids latest version.
Who say not accurate?

[4:03 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: When extract out the longitude and latitude readings, they are 1 meter apart.

Desmond
[3:36 pm, 04/04/2020] : Mobile data don lie but hard to provide as a single source of truth... I worked under a prof on indoor location sensing project for 3.5 years also cannot finalize an outcome 🀣

[4:14 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Also look like you are only a student working on a research project.
Rest assured my group have many years of experience in implementing large scale national and regional city planning projects.

[4:24 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: Also includes worldwide projects that cut across continents.

Joint contribution with my close friend :-
(1) By looking at the attached chart - Based on 15-day recovery for covid19, we are seemingly behind.

(2) 15 days ago (20 mar), total number of cases were 385 but total recovered were only 282 on 3 Apr 2020.

(3) It means 103 have still not recovered - after 14 days of infection.

(4) And our infection per day now hover in double digits of 40, 50, 60, 70s.

(5) This trend is worrying.

(6) We need to watch this statistics closely every day, which should be our #SG United KPI :-
a. Recovery number -- should be the same as infection number after 14 days - if not, we have slipped --- and hopefully, after a couple of days, the recovery number can match up.

b. Infection number from local transmission per day - we should also watch the number of unlink cases and new cluster cases per day.

c. Infection number from imported cases per day - we should also watch the number of imported cases per day.

(7) We can only rest at ease & meet our KPI if :-
a. The recovery rate go in tandem with the infection rate 14 weeks ago - if not at least a few more days to match up.

b. If unlink cases and new clusters infection number start to stabilise and fall in number per day.

c. Infection number from imported cases per day.

(Note :- This is our layman interpretation of the infection and recovery data - to provide another perspective for Government consideration.)

(8) Our key messages are that :-
- it is important for community to take the "circuit breaker" seriously in order to be effective.
- social distancing should be strictly observed.
- work-at-home, stay-at-home, study-at-home should be strictly observed.
- if need to go out, put on a face mask - reusable or surgical mask - to prevent the community spread.
- Only then we can achieve our KPI of flattening the infection curve --- and ensure that our "circuit breaker" is successful.

[6:51 pm, 04/04/2020] : Actually my personal view is public should only wear reuseable masks. Disposable ones should be reserved only for the sick and frontline workers as they need it the most.

Ben Lock
[6:54 pm, 04/04/2020] : Agreed. Dont go out but if you must wear a reusable mask and stay away from people.

[7:03 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
We agree.
This is our position.
To reserve the surgical masks for the health care workers while the public use reusable masks.

[7:28 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Joint comment with my close friend :-
"Yes, we don't want to redirect the raw material into making non compliant disposable masks too.
A rewashable cloth mask is good enough and better than non compliant disposable masks."

Peter T Ng
[7:45 pm, 04/04/2020] : Thanks. Re 3, I believe the length of stay may also mean that Singapore is consciously deploying its medical resources for treatment or other medical intervention when other countries would have simply stopped earlier.
As an example I understand that a team of surgeons did a 4 hour procedure suited in a PAPR to put a middle age lady on artificial heart and lung machine. Expected timeline off it will be 4-6 weeks.

[7:50 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: Yes let's hope this 103  cases can recover within a few days and then our infection curve can be flatten.

Peter T Ng
[7:51 pm, 04/04/2020] : And lessen new cases

[7:56 pm, 04/04/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ: This is what the circuit breaker set out to achieve.

Leonard Lau
[8:15 pm, 04/04/2020] : https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1396237213897442&id=100005335308340

Try to make resuable masks with pocket - that can insert surgical masks for better protection.

REACH
[7:13 pm, 04/04/2020] : Several measures will be put in place as households gear up to collect reusable masks from Sunday (Apr 5) as part of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in Singapore.
To simplify the collection process and minimise the time needed for each transaction, Mr Chan said residents can help by collating their family identification cards and collecting as a family instead of turning up individually.

[9:21 pm, 04/04/2020] : This man is Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Son of Lee Kuan Yew. I have never seen a political leader being so much respected and supported by their own people. Yes, Singapore is a FINE(Penalty) Country. But you will be surprised how much faith people have in Government and leadership. When Prime minister addresses important issues, I often see responses like "Please do NOT worry Prime Minister. We will get through this together." This is a rare scenery to see people comforting their leader, NOT the other way around.

I still remember back in 2015 when his father Lee Kuan Yew passed away, how thousands of people mourned over his death. The sense of sadness was so deep, you could feel it in every corner of Singapore street. I am a Korean but I too was deeply saddened by people's emotion at that time.

Lee Hsien Loong is different from his father. While Lee Kuan Yew was criticized for being too restrictive, Lee Hsien Loong is more open and down to earth. He makes sure that messages are communicated with citizens. He makes sure that his people are protected and provided. And he doesn’t hesitate to make himself available to fellow Singaporeans and enjoys mingling with crowd like a child.

Not only his personality is charming and friendly, he puts his heart and soul into running this country and Singaporeans are aware of that. Many Singaporeans are comfortable about his political decisions. It seems this strong relationship and loyalty between citizens and political leader makes the country as a whole incredibly strong especially in chaotic times like now. People feel safe in Singapore. People feel that Singapore is one of the most safest places in the world. I have seen people calling him a Hero of the nation. And this does NOT come without an effort.

I have every confidence that Singapore will get over this pandemic without too much of damage. Continue to have faith and follow the guidelines. Let's get over this together as one. SG United!!

(I sound like a Singaporean.. lol. I am just a Korean living in Singapore. But let's beat this together anyways!! =) )

#Singapore  #SGunited  #Covid19
