"what papa and mama would have wanted most for the family and Singapore." So by all means make an effort to fulfill his last wish as a way to repay his gratitude. What public interest? We as a Singaporean will never have any interest in exchange for our Singapore Father's unfulfilled wish. Please do not misuse public interest as their self interest.

Correct! What public interest? Now the public interest is for LKY wish to be fufilled. Ask any 10 people anytime on the street and most will tell you they are not interested in 38 Oxley Road (no share mah), it is a private property and should be settled among the Lees. Why bring it out in the open and make it into a big saga?

The only people who think 38 Oxley is of public interest are those from the NHB and the Museum. They probably have nothing much to do since Singapore doesn't have much history and monuments so they say "Wa, this is public interest". The govt don't have any statistics, results of polls or referendum to show there are public interest. Can they come out with say 70% vs 30% result and substantiate it? Would they like to call for a referendum like Brexit and declare a public holiday? So what public interest or just their imagination and interest?

Father's unfulfilled wishes :-
(1) The well-beings of Singapore - to continue to survive, thrive and prosper.
To fulfil this wish - it is the Cabinet's responsibility - not the siblings' irresponsibilities.
Who will be at the frontline governing Singapore? It is the Cabinet. The Cabinet is endowed with the responsibilite. Hence the steadfastness in the unanimous decision to fulfil Mr Lee KY option 2 (Preserve with conditions) and not option 1 (demolish).
To Mr Lee KY, Oxley House and the items associate with it may seems trivial, unimportant.
But to the Cabinet, there are intangible and tang
ible values in the Oxley House - that cannot be simply demolish or throw away. For doing so, the Cabinet will feel they have not fulfil their responsibilites endowed on them.
The responsibilites of running the Nation and ensure its well-beings -not Mr Lee KY who has passed away now. Definitely not the irresponsible siblings.

(2)Is not to see the siblings turn against his elder brother - especially his duties as PM and certainly not against the whole Cabinet and whole Government.
Mr Lee KY has set up, groom and install the system Government that Mr Lee KY has so jealously guarded and groom - even to the point that if anything happen to the Nation, to the Government running it - will "rise from his grave, even when his body is lowered into the grave - will step up from his grave - to put things right".
Now the irresponsible siblings are running the PM down, running the Cabinet down and running the whole Government down ---- the very core of Mr Lee KY's "blood and sweat" that he so painfully put in place.
