China warns against force as North Korea prepares celebration

By Michael Martina and Sue-Lin Wong

"Amid challenge there is opportunity. Amid tensions we will also find a kind of opportunity to return to talks."
While U.S. President Donald Trump has put North Korea on notice that he would not tolerate any provocation, U.S. officials have said his administration was focusing its strategy on tougher economic sanctions.

The best scenario is that China successfully swayed N Korea to denuclearise and opt for a nuclear deal - and defuse the crisis.

The worst scenario is that N Korea refuse to listen to China - and continue to conduct nuclear tests and long-range missile tests.

The best scenario mean N Korea will continue to exist and survive.

The worst scenario will mean a war breakout which will eventually lead to the demise of N Korea.
