Yes,
(1) Sea waves are
free resources – and can help us to generate energy.
(2) Sea waves will
“virtually” never get depleted.
(3) Sea waves to
generate energy is “clean energy” and will not pollute and cause “Greenhouse”
effects (but may need energy to make use of sea waves to generate electricity.
Then how about using solar energy (also a clean energy) to produce energy to transform sea waves to produce energy?) -
just some wild thoughts.
(4) The best thing is that, sea waves are not
affected by sun, rain or other environmental factors - it is "always
on".
If we are successful in using sea waves to generate energy - then we will have security in our energy needs to drive our Economy and our houses.
By doing so, we have more diverse energy sources just like water sources.
This time, money can really come from sea, sun and sky.
太阳,海水 变黄金。
净土,净土 亮晶晶。
Waves here are rather weak, not like the ones you see in Bali, Taiwan or Australia. Waves in the North Sea are even larger.
Also, we are a trading and shipping nation. We cannot have too many tidal generators cluttering up our sea lanes.
Eg. dam the sea if need be - like Marina barrage - to create water pressure. (Weak waves become strong waves).
(1) Turn into tourist attraction.
(2) Become energy generator.
(3) Then desalinate it for drinking water.
3-in-revenue spinner.
(Mind is the limit).
天时,地利,人和 - 唯我用。
(Test-bed in
Sentosa - a tourist spot. Thus tidal seawave energy generator must be quite
asethetic for tourist as well)

Do you even know what you are
talking about?
You can't dam the sea to
generate energy.
Energy is generated from
damming rivers, which flows to the sea, not the other way round.
The Marina Barrage consumes energy instead of generating energy
According to Wikipedia, crest
gates at the top are opened to release excess water during low tides, and pumps
are used during high tides.
Hydroelectric
only works when you have a real river.

Just curious, river flow into sea - from high lying to low lying - gravity.
For us, can we do a drainage (low lying) to draw sea water in - and dam it? No
river, create river (drainage).
With rising sea level (like in Netherland) they build big wall barrier to
block the sea - and the whole city is below sea level.
I go by logic (think out-of-the-box) - not by norms (trap by the box).
Since the glass is full, empty half the glass, until it is half-full.
Half full go by norm. (followers).
Half empty think-out-of the box. (creators).

"water
pressure" is not affected by dams. Unless you build them so big to the
size of singapore. The correct phrase you should be using is Tidal Range which
is typically less than 3.7m in Singapore. Only places where you have two land
bodies creating a funnel can Tidal wave energy generation be viable because you
get good wave speed and tidal range. You don't generate energy just because it
moves, you must have sufficient energy to move the turbines.

Well I am definitely not a professional in this field. I am just
extrapolating simple small happenings around us into solutions to solve larger
issues.
Most of the time with some adaptations and "out-of-the-box" or
norm in doing things, new solutions can emerged - of course it must be
cost-effective and feasible.
But always explore and any ideas are not too silly - because silly ideas
one day - can lead to something big of course with the support of professionals
and experts in the relevant fields.
Energy source - is a big issue in which we need to find various diverse
sources.
Water sources - is related to our survival needs.
Energy source - is related to our physiological needs and economical needs.

What
we see in our inner world, the small things happening around us, we see the
real physical world, the whole universe.

Also with the rising sea levels (if ever the Global Climatic Conditions -
has worsen to such a catastrophe level that threaten to submerged many
countries) - then building a barrier wall surrounding Singapore, with gates
that can still serve our commercial ships - maybe no choice - a survival needs.
To fund this barrier wall, can transform it into a dam to create water
pressure - to generate sufficient energy to support our Energy needs to power
our industry, business, housing etc - and earn revenue to finance the barrier
wall dam.
Thus always keep all
options open and never discard them - because circumstances are changing all
the time and if we always keep abreast and ahead, one day may come useful - and will save everyone's life.
Babe Babe
If anyone has visit Netherland - and climb up the barrier wall and look into the ocean --- you will have a majestic view of the deep blue ocean.
Then you will see the shiver that creep from the toe up to the head - because we realise the whole city is way below the sea level - only protected by the sea barrier wall.
One will think, what happen if the ocean is no longer calm and big waves come, will the whole city submerged by the ocean?
But evidently, this did not happen until now.
Another one is the Venice, the water city.
