    (1) As much as the Act will hurt HK business - it will also hurt US business and consumers - that trade with HK.

    (2) If US think that they are helping the HK rioters by deterring China and HK government from acting against the HK rioters and protestors - US and the HK rioters and protestors will be seriously wrong.

    (3) In effect, China and HK government will be spurred and more determined to rein in on the HK rioters and protestors - the more US interfere with HK.

    (1) HK protestors and opposition lawmakers are naive to think that US is sincere to help them ---- where US is more motivated to give problem to China - to stop China;s growth and development - because China's rising is threatening US supremacy in geopolitical and economic front.

    (2) HK is just a pawn - for US to advance their own interest --- and not to help HK protestors and opposition lawmakers to advance their interest.

    (1) HK protestors if work with the China and HK government - both sides will likely to come to a compromise - a win-win solution.

    (2) But if HK protestors and opposition lawmakers are determined to work and fight against the China and HK government --- it will be "lost cause" - a battle that the HK protestors will not win.

    (3) China is much larger, stronger and more endow than HK many times over in terms of :-
    - Economy
    - Military power
    - People
    - Land mass
    - Market
    - Resources --- and HK's economic survival will mostly depend on China if HK is to survive.

    (4) HK protestors by fighting against China - is as good as "throwing eggs against a big rock" --- where HK protestors will be crushed, quell, subdue and quashed --- and it is plain stupidity for HK protestors and oppositions failing to realise such plain truth ----- where they are completely ignorance of realism and pragmatism.

HK special status is one US gives voluntarily to HK. China did not ask for it. There is a commentary at CGTN that US can take it back if they like. The reaction is just a diplomatic expression on foreign interference, not much a meaningful bill in effect. What it probably means now is that US Christmas will be very expensive if HK loses the status, because US closes it's own loophole to its trade war induced tariffs. It will further hasten HK integration with China economy. Kind of busy fool's act. The whole bill Rubio tries to cook up is meant to increase his standing in the Congress and coming elections. So it is still about self interest.

Why is bj so angry, if they are committed to 1c2s, respect hk's culture/rights/freedom, nothing will happened, unless.....
Anyway, the trade deal US drawn up, CCP will never agree, a tiny mini deal, maybe. CCP's mouthpiece somehow may give you a gist of what CCP's intention on hk in the future. Of course, they can do whatever they like but.....

The Bill means nothing. Just a means of keeping tax payer paid US senetors in their jobs.
