Damn these people. Trace their contacts and uproot their distorted version of so-called Islam. Good job MHA. No more complacent. Let's fight terrorism once and for all, especially to all the Muslim youths! Please contact the authority if you found your friends, relatives that have become radicalized. Help keep us safe and secure.

Indeed. By reporting friends and/or relatives who have become radicalized, you have NOT betrayed them. Instead you are helping them, leading and guiding them to take the right path.

I am sure out there there are still some radicalised muslims who have yet to be identified. Singapore really requires the family members and friends of these people to report them to ISA for preemptive actions. If these people finally have their way, planting a bomb or suicide-bombing at a packed MRT or other crowded places, everyone, both muslims and non-muslims alike, will be their likely casualties.

As managing director of a logistics company - he evidently come from a high income earner.

But yet he is not satisfied with his privilege status - and would rather subscribed to the radical and extreme ideologies of IS - and even willing to go at length to harm our Armed Forces - his fellow citizens in Syria.

If not for his friends who alert the Authorities, he will pose a danger our Country and our fellow Countrymen.

Deport all their family n relatives. These terrorist propaganda at least had been going on since 911. Muslims bear responsibility to tell their children from birth that the Koran was wrong n being a terrorist can get your whole family n relatives deported. Once this is done, at least there will b fewer Muslim terrorist sympathizers in Singapore or even with such education, the whole world. U cannot blame the west for hating Muslims. Muslims got to move their A** n do something. The responsibility falls squarely on the Koran which must delete the killing of infidels n kafirs. We cannot blame the terrorists for reading this part of the Koran to kill. F no positive steps r taken by the most powerful Muslim like the late ayatollah Khomeini to correct the out dated Koran, someone must do the job b4 more non Muslims ( infidels n kafirs s stated in the Koran) r killed. It's high time that MFA, the pap, keep their mouth shut in condemning the terrorists , n Korea etc. now u know these terrorist r inside Singapore n how mush havoc they can create with miniature weapons of mass destruction? By keeping mum against them, u let them target those vocal countries. Instead of making Singapore visible to them, u lie low, on low profile, educate your Muslims to read the Koran minus the killing. The blame game has to stop. It's time for action

Your comments partly hold the same hatred and do not seem to be better than their hate ideology. Why their family & relatives if they were not aware? How do you deport Singaporeans from Singapore? Exhile them? Isn't that's what they had wanted so that they can join the IS from there?
Hatred will feast on hate and grow and GROW.
Agree with your last part on education which the government is actually doing in counselling and rehabilitation while they are being detained.

Dave Pilot - before you accused Koran and Islam about jihad was wrong, you should also look at what is written in the Bible. Some Christian also mention that Koran and Bible are quite similar :-

What does the Bible say about killing in war? Is killing in war a sin?

killing in war
Question: "What does the Bible say about killing in war? Is killing in war a sin?"

Answer: There are many wars mentioned in the Bible. Wars of conquest (Joshua 1:6), civil wars (2 Samuel 3:1), and even a war in heaven (Revelation 12:7). Of course, wars involve killing; there is no way around it. We know that murder is sin (Exodus 20:13). But what about the killing of an enemy combatant during wartime?

First, we know that not all killing in wartime is a sin because there have been times when God Himself commanded battles to be fought. God told the ancient Israelites to possess the Promised Land; in fact, just before the conquest, the Lord appeared to Joshua as “commander of the army of the Lord”—a man of war (Joshua 5:14). God laid out the battle plans for the fight against Ai (Joshua 8:1–2). God told King Saul to “go, attack the Amalekites and totally destroy all that belongs to them” (1 Samuel 15:3). King David defeated the Philistines by following God’s strategy concerning the battle (2 Samuel 5:23–25). God never tells people to sin, so the Israelites who followed God’s commands to wage war were not sinning. Killing in war cannot be equated with murder.

This is not to say that killing in war has no effects. David wanted badly to build the temple in Jerusalem, but God did not let him. The Lord wanted a man of peace to build the temple, and David’s history had been anything but peaceful. God said to David, “You are not to build a house for my Name, because you are a warrior and have shed blood” (1 Chronicles 28:3).

There is no theocracy today. No nation has a command from God to wage war, and God is not handing out battle plans as He did to Joshua, Saul, and David. Yet wars continue to be fought. It is part a fallen world’s existence. The Bible never condemns the actions of a soldier following orders on a battlefield. In fact, the New Testament has examples of soldiers who had faith in God—Jesus commended a centurion’s faith in Matthew 8:10; and another centurion, Cornelius, was saved in Acts 10. These men of war were not rebuked for performing the duties of a centurion, nor were they told they must change professions.

Most tellingly, some soldiers came to John the Baptist as he was baptizing in the Jordan River. The soldiers asked John, “What should we do?” This would have been the perfect opportunity for John to tell them to stop engaging in warfare, stop killing, or stop being soldiers. Instead, John replied, “Don’t extort money and don’t accuse people falsely—be content with your pay” (Luke 3:14). Being a soldier is not inherently sinful.

Paul uses the soldier life as an illustration of spiritual truth (see 1 Corinthians 9:7 and 2 Timothy 2:3). Other references mention battles and warfare (see 2 Corinthians 10:4 and 1 Timothy 1:18). Ephesians 6 contains an extended comparison of the Christian life and warfare (verses 10–17). If being a soldier (and doing the things soldiers are required to do) were sinful, it is unlikely the Holy Spirit would have used soldiering as a metaphor for anything good.

Throughout the Bible, warfare is presented as a grim reality in a cursed world. There are forces of evil that must be stopped, and bloodshed is sometimes the result. Whether a Christian should serve in the military is a matter of one’s own conscience, but killing an armed combatant in the context of warfare is not sinful in itself. There is a time and season for everything, including war (Ecclesiastes 3:8).

It is whether Religious Leaders of various faith - de-emphasize "holy war", "jihad", "crusade" and other violence --- while emphasizing the wholesome aspects of the various faith.

If you really want to look at religious teachings that has no single words of killings, violence and war ---- Buddhism sutra has no mention of the above.

If you want to quote Mynamar militant Buddhists - conducting genocide on Rohingya --- those militant Buddhists are not "True Buddhists" who defy Buddhism Teachings of no killings, violence, mass murder ---- who instill Teachings of Universal Compassion, Patience, Tolerance and Mutual Inclusiveness.

Just note that Christian and Catholics have fought for many decades - over their differences in ideologies - involving terrorism and bombings.

Only the last 3 decades or so, the terrorism of Christianity and Catholicism cease totally.

Islam ideologies struggles - Sunnis vs Shiites, plus ISIS ideologies are now at its peak ---- which is quite similar to the ideologies struggle between Christianity and Catholicism - that last many decades and centuries.

This karma will take a long time to play out ---- as long as the holy scripts mention bloodshed, killings, violence, war - holy or not, jihad, crusade -- is divine, is permitted.

Only de-emphasizing the holiness of violence -- and emphasizing Universal Compassion, Patience, Tolerance, Mutual Inclusiveness --- will help to cease bloodshed.

Indonesia Government effort and emphasis on diversity, inclusiveness among different faith -- is the right step forward.

Then people will ask, how did Buddha prevent killings and war ?

Buddha has the unique capabilities of radiating Compassion and prevent killings and war.

(1) Enemies of Buddha send many soldiers and assassinators to kill Buddha because Buddha Teachings has converted many disciples of other faiths.

But each time when the soldiers and assassinators approach Buddha, they are astounded and transfixed by Buddha's Compassion being radiated by Buddha - and their hatred heart turn soft - and was converted by Buddha when Buddha expound His Discourse.

(2) Even an Elephant was make to charge at Buddha to kill Him - but Buddha is able to radiate Compassion and the charging Elephant stop at its track and kneel before Buddha.

(3) Women are send to defame Buddha - but all are transformed and converted by Buddha's Compassion and Discourse.

(4) Advancing armies are stop 3 times from invading another Countries - when Buddha stop their advancing path - and Buddha radiate Compassion and expound discourse to the whole advancing Army - and the Army cease their appetite to fight.

And eventually Buddha is not able to stop a war, when the Army skirt and evade Buddha (who is too old to intercept them).

So in the Buddhism sutra --- there is no advocating of bloodshed, violence, killings, war.

A principle mirror this :-
"Friends to all, Adversaries to none."

Even in modern day, Enlightened Being is able to radiate Compassion - eg. a crying child stop crying immediately when he placed his hand on the child's head.

(Updated: )
SINGAPORE: The Singapore Buddhist Federation has weighed in on the crisis in Myanmar's Rakhine state, saying that the escalation of violence there is of "grave concern".
"We would like to appeal to all parties to stop all acts of violence under whatever pretext," the Federation's president, Venerable Seck Kwang Phing, said in a statement on Friday (Sep 8).
Ven Seck said that the Federation and all Buddhist institutions have strongly supported the fundraising by the Islamic Council of Singapore or MUIS to provide "much needed relief" to the victims.
"We believe humanitarian consideration should transcend all man-made boundaries, be it race or religion," he added.
More than 160,000 mainly Muslim Rohingya civilians have sought refuge in Bangladesh in the last two weeks, said the United Nations. Violence that broke out after Rohingya militants attacked police posts in Rakhine on Aug 25 has resulted in the deaths of more than 400 people so far.
They have flooded stretched refugee camps and are in desperate need of shelter, food and water.
Myanmar says some 27,000 mainly ethnic Buddhist Rakhine have also fled the state.
