How will the measures introduced under the Fortitude Budget help you, as we continue to stand together during the COVID-19 pandemic?
DPM Heng Swee Keat yesterday announced a $33 billion Supplementary Budget, called the Fortitude Budget, which will provide support for businesses and workers to adapt, transform and seize new opportunities. It also gives additional support for households and the community to cope with the disruptions.

This includes an enhancement of the Jobs Support Scheme, a SGUnited Jobs & Skills Package which will create close to 100,000 opportunities in jobs, traineeships and skills training, as well as a one-off $100 Solidarity Utilities Credit for households with at least one Singapore Citizen.

(1) This virus pandemic has cause many business to grind to a halt.

(2) But at the same time, the virus pandemic has force many businesses who did not transform fast enough to do a cold turkey transformation to exploit digital ecommerce in order to survive.

(3) This has fulfil ITM (Industry Transformation Map) objective of transforming many traditional industries and business to embrace digital technologies to grow their international reach - whether for big enterprises, medium enterprises and even small enterprises - in a double quick time.

(4) By doing so, our businesses can help the Economy to grow phenomenally as our domesitc market is make up of only 5.6 million consumers and $560 billion domestic market.

(5) By embracing digitial technology to transform their business into eCommerce with international reach - we are tapping into the vast international market of $90 trillion and 6 billion people international market - a much larger market and business opportunities for our Enterprises.

(6) The current fortitude budget has further catalyse business especially SMEs to digitise their payment system like "Paynow SQ QR code", making purchase orders through online eDelivery platofrm etc. - where not only neighborhood customers can order their foods - but also people living in other parts of the Country.

(7) SMEs such as retail can also tap on digital platform, and utilise our global logisitical hub and regional supply chain to sell their products even to overseas customers.

(8) All these will help our local business to grow - not only catering to the local domestic market but also to international market.

(9) The combined "brick and mortar" business plus the newly transformed digital eCommerce platform - will help our local business to expand their business and customer base - that include not only their traditional customers, it also include customers outside the neighborhood and even overseas customers.

(10) If many businesses in Singapore are successful in transforming their business to harness Digital eCommerce, then on aggregate - our Economy will have expanded many fold.

(11) When the virus pandemic is finally over, our business can jumpstart and become a springboard to make our Economy flourish and gorow phenomenally - when the world lockdown is removed.

(12) If we succeed in transfoming our aggrgated business and Economy during this virus pandemic, then in short time, Government can accumulate good surplus and repay the money back (a whopping $52 billion) to the reserves that we have borrowed to tie over this virus pandemic.

(13) If our reserves are continuously depleted, Singapore without natural resources --- will be in deep trouble --- as if the next crisis strike --- we have nothing left to cushion and help our business and people back to the pink of health.

[12:46 pm, 27/05/2020] : Hi all, not sure if myself and my group of friends are the only one facing this issue, and if you all have any advice on this matter.
I think it's great and am appreciative of the help the government is providing for businesses and families. However it seems that there is a slip on a group of small businesses that do not qualify for JSS as LLP/sole proprietorship/partnership and they also do not qualify for SIRS. Meaning we get no assistance from the government thus far in terms of our personal pay and we as small business definately do need the financial help during this period of time.
Furthermore, with directors of pte ltd pay being included for JSS now it means that their pay is covered to 75% and a self employed persons eligibility is only a flat $1000. Example of the scenario of 2 individuals drawing the same pay for comparison purpose.
If person A (owner of pte ltd) and B (owner of LLP or sole proprietorship/partnership) makes the same income (say $4000) and pays same amount of tax. But person A gets $3,000 (75% under JSS) while person B gets $1000 (flat amount under SIRS). And yet not all self employed persons are eligible for SIRS. This means person A is given 3 times of the support of person B.
Our group of companies are in the events, marketing and creative industries hence we are definitely hit badly during this period and trying our very best to retain our team and survive this difficult period, but it's been an upwards challenge for us as the months goes by.
Any advice and help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all. Stay positive and stay safe!
@REACH Singapore Could you also help to bring this issue up to the relevant agencies please. Thank you.

Strange. Why local transmission still cannot be at zero?
That's still mild asymptomatic cases lurking in the community.
And we are opening up in 1 week times.

[4:25 pm, 27/05/2020] : Dear all, please do not squeeze or wring after you have washed the masks SG gov has given out recently.
See video in the manufacturer website on how to wash them.

Ken
[5:16 pm, 27/05/2020] : Didn’t know cannot squeeze 😅
[5:16 pm, 27/05/2020] : Like that very long to dry

CQ
[5:29 pm, 27/05/2020] : You can try laying out a dry towel folded into 2, lay the mask flat on one end, then roll (macham making Swiss roll) and press.

[5:31 pm, 27/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Squeeze will spoil the fabric and protection layer.
If you hang it in front of a high velocity fan it will dry very fast, 2 hours dry up already.

CQ
[5:42 pm, 27/05/2020] : From the various sources I've seen, the incubation period observed around the world seems to be anywhere between 7 to 21 days, and commonly contagious between 3-5 days before symptoms first start showing. The behaviour for most people seems to be that they would visit the doctor around 2-3 days after they notice the symptoms and the test in itself takes 2 days because the tests are repeated over 2 days if I'm not wrong. So that means they would have been contagious for almost a week before they are picked up by out tests.
And singapore has observed that most patients are reportedly no longer contagious around 11 days after they became confirmed. So added to the time before they were confimed, that's conservatively about 21 days of being potentially contagious.
But it seems that different countries have observed different trends and symptoms, which seems to lend support to the research that there seems to be at least 3 strains of the virus around.
