📢Topic: 📢
With the extension of the circuit breaker to 1 June, some in the chat groups have expressed concerns on its social impact, including the mental well-being or violence and abuse.
The National Care Hotline has been set up to provide emotional support, while employers and workers are also encouraged to take steps to support mental well-being during this period. To prevent incidents of family violence, the authorities are also taking a more proactive approach to help high-risk victims, including enhanced measures by the police.
What can we as a community do to support the psychological well-being and resilience of our fellow Singaporeans during this time?

*All pre-school staff* to be swabbed for COVID-19 before centres resume full services

About 30,000 pre-school and early intervention staff, including teachers, principals, programme staff, administrative staff, cooks and cleaners, will take the one-time swab tests, the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) said in response to questions from CNA on Thursday (May 14).
“After pre-school services fully resume, we will consider a *risk-based* testing system to protect children and staff,” an ECDA spokesperson told CNA.

My close friend comments - something we can improve upon:-

5. The most hideous part of this pandemic is that there are asymptomatic patients who may go around and pass the virus quietly. The gov *evidence-based approach* then become a *reactive*. Remember, how many times we were briefed that "there is no evidence that..."

Joint contribution with my close friend :-

Part 3 - What we can attempt to do better

Part #3:-
(1) I can understand that Singapore wants an *evidence-based approach*,  Scientific approach but the virus spread faster than evidence can proof. We need to adopt a *risk-based approach* to be proactive in tackling this virus pandemic.

My close friend comments :-
(4) But every asymptomatic case that slip by can turn into a thousand cases in 10days. When it quietly spread until beyond control, we are finished.
(5) Really hope sg is doing aggressive testing.

My comments :-
(1) Aggressive testings is the right approach, but to test all 5.6 million residents in Singapore at one go - is a very challenging and daunting tasks.
(2) Thus we need to priorities our testing, I suggest that :-
Batch 3c - *Test all pre-school students and staff* who will be attending pre-school once circuit breaker ends - as some cases also come from this batch - number unknown --- but i guess quite a big number.

1. It is important to determine the root cause of the home violence - in order to determine what help can be extended to the family.

2. The current virus pandemic have cause business to grind to a halt - and business owners will suffer from financial losses - that could put a strain on their family.

3. Some people may have lost their jobs which could be sole breadwinner - that strain family relationship on whether they will be able to place food on the table.

4. Some family violence could be deal to individuals who are aggressive or dominating by nature - and who tend to bully or abuse the weaker family members. Or some individuals may have tense relationship that cause conflicts at home.

5. Only by knowing the root causes - can social workers render the right assistance to the family violence.
eg. for those who needs jobs or finances, help them to find jobs in this difficult time.
eg. for those who have dominating or aggressive individual, social workers may have to step in to separate the individual and protect the victims.
eg. for neighbors that heard frequent commotion or victims crying for help - discreetly call the police or social workers to intervene and not let the violence escalates.

[4:04 pm, 15/05/2020] : Agree with the root cause investigation, otherwise we're just treating symptoms.
