20 May 2020 (12pm - 8pm)

REACH
[12:02 pm, 20/05/2020] : 📢 Topic 📢
What adjustments do you have to make as we enter Phase 1, when various measures are lifted gradually to reopen our economy?

Singapore will be reopening its economy in three phases to avoid a resurgence of infection and community spread. In addition, measures such as mask-wearing and safe distancing will remain.  On public transport, commuters must wear masks and refrain from talking. Dining in will be disallowed in Phase 1 and restrictions on meeting friends and family will mostly remain.

It was stressed that reopening of the economy is not a return to life before COVID-19. Health Minister Gan Kim Yong also noted that measures in the phases could be rolled back should the outbreak numbers rise. Minister Lawrence Wong emphasised patience and discipline as key elements in the phased approach. Said Min Wong: “We have to do this in a very careful and calibrated manner as we don’t want  infection rates to flare up again. We also do not want to sacrifice the efforts that we have put in.”

1. Understand that when circuit breaker measures end, there's a need to open the switch one by one to prevent a flare up.

2. But there are feedback and genuine concern from the ground, where business will be affected.

"Phase 2 will be a few months, more biz will go bust."

3. Any help or remedies that can be rendered to these business and their workers to help them stay afloat?

[12:06 pm, 20/05/2020] : NDP 2020 to have morning and evening shows; shows to be scaled down in line with COVID-19 precautions

This year’s National Day Parade (NDP) will be split into morning and evening shows, with participant numbers drastically reduced in line with COVID-19 guidelines.

Fewer than 300 participants will be involved in both segments of the show, and the committee does not plan to allow spectators into the evening show at the moment, said Brigadier-General Frederick Choo, Chairman of the NDP2020 Executive Committee.

My close friend contribution :-

The disinfectant chambers that Singapore intend to deploy can cause health problems to people that use it.
It cause skin irritation and inhale toxic fumes into the lungs.

[6:20 pm, 20/05/2020] : While gg to the market on bicycle, I took a longer route inside the neighbourhood areas instead of cycling on the pavement along the road, I observed many elderly, aunt n uncle all half mask.. Never cover nose.. Some sit at the multipurpose Hall reading newspaper... So play phone.. Of cos they are all alone.

Stanley
[6:39 pm, 20/05/2020] : Give them a break

XaniceAfcai
[6:40 pm, 20/05/2020] : At least, they no gather... All do their own thing..

Blue and White Flag Guy
[6:41 pm, 20/05/2020] : We shouldn't "give them a break" simply because they're the elderly
If we see such things we should always step in and educate them on what's right and what's wrong
If they want to pick a fight then ok, give yourself a break, at least you'll know you've done your part

[6:44 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
All is needed is one infected and the whole neighborhood get infected.
And then the whole nation get lockdown again.

Rama
[6:44 pm, 20/05/2020] : You have a point

[6:47 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
We can be kind, we can be compassionate.
But virus won't be kind and compassionate, and virus will we exploit any loopholes and strike.

[6:56 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Lockdown a day cost Singapore on average $1.63 billion a day on average.

[7:01 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Both economic loss and virus kill humans either way.

One is through hunger another one through sickness.

Thus the right balancing act must be pivoted correctly - as human are riding on either side of the blade.

[7:13 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Both sides of the blade cause human to bleed.
(1) Economic loss of 2 months lockdown on average cost us $97.8 billion.
So we have to be careful to avoid lowering our guard while slowly opening up the Economy in phases.

(2) If we allow people to be complacent and deliberately flout the social distancing law - such as lowering the face mask, or not wearing it, or let people gather to talk and start spreading the virus --- then Eocnomy got to lockdown again --- where we not only suffer poterntial earning, but also have to dig into reserves --- double loss.

[7:32 pm, 20/05/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
(1) Now the measure of our success, our KPI - is how good we are in tackling this virus pandemic while balancing it with keeping our economy going and economic activities open with safety safeguard.

(2) And if we are able to navigate ourselves by successfully opening up Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 as plan ---- then we will have succeeded in battling the virus and at the same time keeping our Economy going ---- before effective vaccines emerged.

(3) If we fail as plan to ride through the 3 phases -- but need to roll back the phases --- then it means we have fail --- because virus could have flare out - as some people flout the social distancing measures or some people are complacent and let the virus breakthrough.
