Dell storage business and EMC is in storage. Look like EMC storage will be made redundant.

VMware server virtualization, NSX network virtualization, SDN (Software Defined Network), vCloud - will be a trump acquisition for Dell.

EMC initially did not do well - because it want to bundle VMware with its storage.

For eg. Those who buy VMware may not want to buy EMC storage.

If insist can only sell VMware with EMC storage, then customers may buy other server virtualization, cloud computing products, SDN instead.

For eg. Windows HyperV CloudOS, RedHat Server Virtualisation, Cisco SDN ACI.

Then VMware will lose a lot of market shares.

Eg. a customer may want to buy Dell server and storage. But if Dell insist that customer must also buy Dell network and Dell backup ---- then customer will instead buy HP servers & HP storage (eg. HP EVA, HP PAR) or IBM servers & IBM DS 5000, 4000 storage subsystem plus Cisco network and Symantec Netbackup.

So if a customer only want to buy VMware server virtualization - but Dell insist customer must also buy Dell server, Dell storage, Dell network switches, Dell backup --- then customer may instead buy Microsoft HyperVisor, HP server, IBM DS storage, Cisco network switches and routers, Symantec Backup.

Then both Dell and VMware lose market share.
