[10:00 am, 24/05/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

It has been a week since Singapore tightened our COVID-19 safety measures on 16 May, including banning dining in and restricting social gatherings. In addition, the Government ramped up testing and surveillance so as to detect and isolate COVID-19 cases early.

💬 How are you adapting to the tightened COVID-19 measures? What are your views on Singapore’s response in tackling the COVID-19 community cases?

Speaking at a virtual event on Saturday (22 May), Minister of Health Mr Ong Ye Kung said that the number of coronavirus cases here was stabilising, with around about 20 to 30 cases a day since the heightened measures were introduced. However, Mr Ong cautioned that “We still have to watch for a few more days before we know which direction the cases are heading. But also continue to do our part, so that we can suppress it".

Over the weekend, two infections were detected after residents living at Block 506 Hougang Ave 8 underwent a mandatory COVID-19 test, after some residents were found to have tested positive for COVID-19. Residents living at Blk 559 Pasir Ris St 51 will also undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test from 24 - 25 May.

Mr Ong also said in a Facebook Post that close to 80 per cent of recent cases involve those who have not been vaccinated. Many of the vaccinated COVID-19 cases are front-line workers.

In addition, MOH announced that Jem and Westgate would be closed for two weeks for deep cleaning, after investigations found that there is likely transmission among visitors to the malls. The closure aims to break any potential chain of transmission.

[10:16 am, 24/05/2021] +65 9830 3652: Sound and tailored preemptive steps had been prescribed. Let's see the data on the trend before deciding on next steps

[10:17 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: The Hougang cases, an engineer friend said it might because of aircon. He said it is an old building. The aircon main body sits in somewhere like a cabinet in the bedroom. When aircon does ventilation,  it may cause the infection. Maybe this can be a clue to investigate. Lift can not pick same floor unit to infect right.

[10:18 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: still see people not wearing mask properly, youths at skate parks do not observed 1 meter safe distance.

[10:19 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: What are your views on Singapore’s response in tackling the COVID-19 community cases?

1) Singapore reactive plans are very good and 2020 had proven itself when the world luff at us for locking in - no doubt it was good

[10:19 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: 2) but we became complacent - > took the gamble with the air borders

[10:21 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: even the public felt more can be done here, before anyone say Border shut again READ PLEASE NO ONE IS ASKING BORDERS TO BE SHUT, instead the public hope we can reactively close flights to high risk countries (exception for citizen and prs)

[10:21 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: just like how hk did to us .. flights found with covid ban for 2 weeks......

[10:21 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: For the tightened measures, I'm sure everyone is coping well. In fact, I think we have it too good in some aspects. Still see people clustering out doors (not might not be related, just that too many people).

Everyday I see new clusters popping up and it's really a cause for concern. I'm sure this is eventually taper down but from what I feel, it's going to get worse after Jun school holidays when people bring their kids out. My 2.14 cents.

[10:22 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: or like germany ban flights from uk once they noted the b1617 trend is going up

[10:22 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: why want to gamble the society stability -> look is this current situation worth it

[10:24 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: society is handicapp / cag closed / malls closed / hospital, school, airport , housing flats clustered / govt to throw in subsidy from health sector to transport to malls / lost of 2 big events ...... is it worth it to risk just to have high risk countries pax in ......

[10:25 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: 👍

[10:26 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: is an invisible agent we fighting here and frankly globally there is no concreate report on the characterisictis of this agent C19 AND ITS COUSIN so why are we taking chances when we was able to fend off the worst with Phase1 2020. we were soooo closed to make to normal , a good 70% society back in business , safe environment .....

[10:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: eveyone was able to do their business but certain sector have to slow down abit due to risk of well import of man pwer

[10:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: What are your views on Singapore’s response in tackling the COVID-19 community cases?    I look at other parts of the world and can't decide if we are now being too cautious. A handful of cases - are people getting seriously ill from them? What are our ICU and hospitalisation numbers like? We can't eradicate this virus, just as we can't with flu, which is also deadly to some.

[10:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Jem and Westgate to close from Sunday to June 6, 10 recent Covid-19 cases linked to both malls

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/jem-and-westgate-to-close-from-sunday-to-june-6-10-recent-covid-19-cases-linked-to

[10:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: All the mega mall close

[10:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Seems like Tracetogether is not foolproof.

[10:30 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: 2 huge malls close for 2 weeks each because of 10 cases? What % of visitors was that? The loss of business is huge, and while TT is here to combat the spread, do we really need to close Malls for 2 weeks?

[10:31 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: What is Singapore's end game here? No cases for a month, 2 months? I do agree with being cautious and we can't allow the virus to spread out of control. Why not just CB for 2 weeks then? Otherwise we are just playing whack-a-mole and it'll not end until we are all vaccinated by 2022...

[10:38 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: How much will be the cost for air-conditioned mall to do a deep cleaning daily? Before malls open. Is it feasible?

[10:39 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: And how about airport terminals deep clean daily? Take turn to open different terminals where one is being cleaned.

[10:39 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: I still find it hard to be believe that covid is so contagious that it has become airborne

[10:41 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: It is. Definitely

[10:41 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: I know it is just finding it hard to swallow it’s now airborne 🤣

[10:44 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Ah Fan is touching in perhaps 1 GAP for potential airborne spread of diseases.... AIRCON...

One step more, MRT stations that are enclosed should also be on this high alert areas.

Second, what's the frequency of CLEANING these aircon system? Chemical washing? Or other better efforts?

[10:44 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Are we looking at doing serology tests for those who were previously infected but now recoved? Maybe useful to help know who to prioritise for vaccinations, and then how vulnerable the community is. We may find a large number of people now have natural immunity.

[10:44 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: I mean doing the serology test to identify those previously infected but now recoved.

[10:46 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: MRT and buses

[10:47 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: "SPACE"

CONFINED vs OPEN

These are gaps of transition for diseases!

[10:48 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Perhaps

Taxis and private hires should LOWERED all windows during their JOURNEYS AND TRIPS....

[10:50 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Key is VENTILATION....

[10:50 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Airport MAIN entrance be FULLY OPEN

[10:57 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: Good idea! We should enforce this.

[10:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: since when it is not airborne? tot in 2020 it was stated as airborne?

[10:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: not officially from WHO and MOH

[10:58 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: taxi are allowed but i sthe pax that do not allowed ... scare hot .. warm

[10:58 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: think WHO did mentioned do a search ,

[10:58 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: anyway if not airborn why wear mask right

[10:58 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Do we have any evidence to show this is a problem?

[10:58 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: dun tell me is to prevent the silvia from jump out stupid reason there

[11:00 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: https://www.forbes.com/sites/jvchamary/2021/05/04/who-coronavirus-airborne/?sh=1070d05c4472

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: u see your title ....

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: finally .. it's too late

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: is just not strong emphsis

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: mentioned doesn't mean official

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: As of May 16 there were just 2 people on ICU.

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: pls find the article

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: like the after effects of c19 is never strong emphsis globally

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: where is your source?

[11:01 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: and 200 in Hospital

[11:02 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: my source is internet read lah

[11:03 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: show me the link

[11:04 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: i told you is from 2020

[11:04 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: can u go search

[11:05 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: if you think i am not valid den so be it

[11:05 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: after all u got the latest link fromforbes stating is too late

[11:05 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: can't find

[11:08 am, 24/05/2021] +Valli: Agree

[11:08 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: can't find can't dinf lor

[11:09 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Although I might get hated for this, can I suggest the Ministry to continue the no dine-in until after Jun holidays?

[11:09 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: I worry about more tranmission if allow dine-in since the virus is airborne.

[11:09 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: or 2 pax can dine-in as a grp?

[11:09 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: or outdoor dinning is allow

[11:09 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: air-con not allow

[11:10 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: since can exercise, outdoor but not indoor

[11:11 am, 24/05/2021] +REACH: COVID-19 breath test gets provisional authorisation in Singapore, to undergo trial at land checkpoint

A locally developed COVID-19 breath test that can generate results within one minute has received provisional authorisation from Singapore’s Health Sciences Authority (HSA). The breath test system underwent clinical trials at three locations between June 2020 and April this year.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/covid-19-breath-test-breathonix-hsa-trial-land-checkpoint-14874824

[11:12 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: in fact no need find also can see the rate of infacetion is soo fast that if not via airborne den by wat physical meh ...

[11:15 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: monologue again?

[11:15 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: lol

[11:17 am, 24/05/2021] +Valli: Jem Westgate is a hotspot, crowded as it link up to MRT, IMM, NGTF hospital.

Should look into how to redirect the crowd, create an alternative route for bypassing, if possible.

[11:18 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: any thing as long as you self entertainment happy can liao...

[11:19 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: i'm happy thanks lol

[11:24 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: If someone is vaccinated and has a negative test, why can't they dine in?

[11:25 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Singapore needs to start focusing on how to have a normal life and live with Covid. We can't shut the country down when 30% are vaccinated already.

[11:25 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Another 10% might have natural immunity - we don't know.

[11:26 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: We need to look at measures to allow normality while not putting people are risk.

[11:26 am, 24/05/2021] +Ken: Many jobs are lost haiz

[11:26 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: It feels like we are approaching this based on weakest link. If 1 person might get ill then everyone has to stay home.

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Ken: Tourism dead, airline half dead, KTV dead, retail semi dead. 🤦🏻

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Let's  look after the vulnerable but try to open up as much as possible.

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Yes

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: No one is safe until everyone is safe

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Enable easy access to testing, so people can check they are not infectious.

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Unless the eatery has onsite swab test

[11:27 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: we were in a good condition

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Or the new breath test maybe?

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Ken: Can’t we just vaccinated and then let Covid go through the population.. atleast it is less deadly.

😥 if not there is no end to it 🤦🏻

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but the risk assessment was not heed and gamble was taken against it

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Yes that too

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Which is impossible really.

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: now we paid for the price....

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Cos one bad egg can make the whole tray all rotten

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: We don't take these measure against the flu each year, which is also a deadly virus.

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: like mentioned earlier ur reactive process is good

[11:28 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: am sure in the next 2 weeks we can better and much control the situation

[11:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: after that what gamble again ...

[11:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, what is the plan for after this mini CB?

[11:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: den cycle repeat itself?

[11:29 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Or just the same....? Do we have a new revised approach?

[11:31 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: details plans ask the brains up there which am sure not 100% will be made known, watever can be made kown is already open into press

[11:32 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: 2) are there further gambles going to be made while listening to the ground ...

[11:33 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asia/malaysia-muhyiddin-yassin-covid19-mco-interview-economy-safety-14869452

[11:33 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: 3) how much MORE from the bank we going to draw .. is there a limit to call for stop (this one no need let public know any one will be able to think of this)

[11:33 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: 4) till date we are finghting still with people who treat this whole crisis as a joke not following the basic of masking up

[11:35 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: One purpose of these community BLITZ swapping exercises are to QUANTIFY and QUALIFY to derive a model of infection, variant and rate of penetration. It would be of better accuracy if this exercise can be completed within 14 days or shorter! It is a RACE against time, time is of the utmost essence!

[11:36 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: They may still be infected even they are full vaccinated.

[11:37 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: This big data samples will give the decision makers (inter-ministries) a better hand in planning for example MEDICAL resources such as sick beds, vaccines, masks and PPEs, medical staffs, targeted and selective CBs and etc. The idea is to come up with a list of things that are CRUCIALS as well as relooking at the essentials from each Ministry (too many essentials are counter- productive) for a country and economy to continue with minimal disruption (destruction) to lives and livelihoods!

[11:38 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: negative test and vaccinated? Yes maybe, so we should all stay home forever then?

[11:40 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Obviously I don't mean that literally, but the point is that we cannot hide from this forever. It needs to be managed and yes some people will fall ill (just as they do with other viruses), but once serious illnesses are very rare, and all reasonable precautions are taken - then we should open up.

[11:41 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: It would be good to know the Gov position on this - what is the aim? what do they consider reasonable? Not right now clearly, but when?

[11:41 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: negative test result is when he is tested, unless we can test at restaurants. Let us so due to poor ventilation in the restaurant, he may still be infected. Open space dining should be fine.

[11:42 am, 24/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: not really if the air is still type

[11:42 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: All Outdoors activities should be fine

[11:43 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe people who feel vulnerable can stay home and not see anyone.  People who are recovered and/or vaccinated can be a little freer to go out?

[11:44 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: If I ran a restaurant and all my staff are vaccinated, why can't I open to guests who are also vaccinated? The chance of spread is negligent.

[11:45 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: If we can't allow vaccinated people to meet other vaccinated people then who do we ever open up?

[11:45 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: *how?

[11:46 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: And then what's the point of vaccination if it doesn't change anything?

[11:47 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: RANGE - "the length and depth of solving challenges... "

Going forward into 2022, we need a unified approach with a range of tools to activate a cluster CB, targeted area of CB and last resort a full CB, as and when the covid situation evolves to a medically /socially /economically undesirable level. Thus we need to come up a set of MATRIXES to qualify and quantify a foreseeable or an unforeseeable scenario.

Given this civid is a moving goalpost, to match this continuously changing covid challenges. We need range, range of procedures, perimeters and positionings. Gathering of resources is an advantage to an extend of using what one's have in hand to the FULLEST use.

[11:48 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: May not be fair to that who can't get jab due to medical issues or 40 years old and below where it's not available to them yet.

[11:48 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: Meet at nearby park for the time being?  Little risk with proper social distancing, for all

[11:49 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: True - also not fair to people who are vaccinated to keep them home. Also not fair some people get covid and others don't. Life isn't fair, we just have to do the best we can for as many people as we can.

[11:49 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: We aren't even allowed to do that.

[11:52 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Ben's good pointers to think about...

Private space vs Public space

[11:53 am, 24/05/2021] +An fan: You see the Hougang cases, one of them is security guard at airport, definitely vaccinated right? Still be infected and infected others. Correct me if I am wrong

[11:54 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Yes it will happen. I wonder how many other vaccinated people were infected and how serious any of the cases were. Just a fever for a day or two?

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: The point is that we cannot expect this to go away completely, and if we wait for that it will be years unless we keep our borders closed

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: So we need to adjust and accept there will be cases.

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya loe

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Lor

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Like flu bug

[11:55 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: And dengue

[11:56 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Dengue can have lockdown? Then stop?

[11:56 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: https://www.healthhub.sg/live-healthy/869/doctor-i-have-flu#:~:text=In%20Singapore%2C%20influenza%2Dassociated%20hospitalisation,about%201500%20hospitalisations%20per%20year.

[11:56 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Over 100 people per month hospitalised for Flu

[11:56 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Is a MOVING GOALPOST...

Just when one secured the garden flame, next comes another...

[11:56 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: That's way more than Covid

[11:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Then car accident lei

[11:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Lock down also?

[11:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Ben: They are not contagious lol

[11:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: But the death rate

[11:57 am, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: Again, Ben is INVESTIGATING DEEPEP...very good!

Chicken vs Eggs

[0:40 pm, 24/05/2021] +Thomas: Something aside. I felt that this pandemic shows up a lot of xenophobia in our people and fortunately only a minority. Unfortunately, opposition has been feeding to this xenophobia even before this pandemic and to frighten , cause class envy to ultimately to win votes through this way.  It is a quiet cancer to our fabric as multi-cultural identity and need to nib this soon. I think it is high time we throw the book at those promoting xenophobia, call out the opposition party to debate on CECCA in parliament as what our Minister challenge them recently. The announcement by Ministries that flight has been banned by India since March was met with accusation of lying on the ground. We should call out the opposition to bring this up in parliament and repeat this accusation, if true, it will be gold mine for them and prove they are speaking up. Quite tired of the whispering campaign on the ground  and it is a quite cancer that erode the trust in the institution on long term. LKW, would confront his headon and call them out. Our Government may like to be consultative but do not behave like a big customer service department which they are not . They are to govern and call out forcefully .

1. We can't keep our border close perpetually - because Singapore Economy is very dependent on opening our borders with overseas Countries - for trade, tourism, workers, investment, MICE etc.

2. India and China has population more than 1.4 billion people - our largest export market, source for workers (in jobs that Singaporeans are not doing), investment, tourists etc.

3. We can see that the moment we close our border now to India, no more construction workers can come in --- and many of our construction projects stall - because we don't have enough Indian workers.

4. Thus the long term solution - is mass vaccination to achieve herd immunity for our population.

Eventually, once this is done, we need to open our borders to India - as we need their construction workers --- else our Construction sector is in doldrum.

[1:33 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

5. By going automation can help to improve the Construction sector - but will still need skilled construction workers to operate it.

6. Straits Times reported that most HDB projects are automated, where many units (which are identical) - can be moulded by automation.

7. But landed properties, condo with different design, MRT projects, and other infrastructure projects - cannot be automated like HDB flats and need skilled construction workers - which India has many of these trained construction workers.

8. It is too simplistic to assume that automation can be dispensed with Indian construction workers - and we can close our borders perpetually from India.

11. Many private construction projects that are stalled are not mentioned in the news articles.

Also, if you help, be really careful not to accidentally hurt the fellow badly or worse, kill him, because you can be charged with a very serious offence even if it was to intervene or it is accidental.

[3:21 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: safer to get SMRT to install speaker, and play pre-recorded message from Police when such things happen

[3:22 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: should be police and smrt working together on this for public safety, not ask the non combat trained public to put their safety at rish mah

[3:25 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: Heros like Ben, very few liao

[3:26 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Sorry to have to say this .. but my own experience with the SPF is that they best at "Taiji" ... after seeing video of the Little India Riot incident .. Collyer Quay high-on-drugs taser-immune guy incident.... my confidence level not particularly high 😅

[3:26 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: how many man still keep fit after NS

[3:27 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

NS teach us how to fight a war - not to fight gangster.

[3:27 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Anyway fighting will land you with black record.

[3:28 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: oh so u only want to shout Police ah. i thought if u are there, u will try to stop the man

[3:28 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Shout Police.

Not to join in the fight.

[3:29 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: there was no fight lah, more like just one man beating another man

[3:29 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Not necessarily need to resort to physical violence to stop the assault ... just as physical violence may not necessarily stop the assault as well 😅

[3:29 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If anyone join, then it become a fight.

[3:31 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: if got fishing net, or sports net or other nets can throw over the man? then try to restrain the man?

[3:31 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: maybe get sued

[3:31 pm, 24/05/2021] +Noraini: Throw water.

[3:31 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: throw water can stop him meh

[3:32 pm, 24/05/2021] +Noraini: Yes.

[3:32 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: why

[3:32 pm, 24/05/2021] +Noraini: Anger is fire. Water douse fire.

[3:33 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

This guy is a trained fighter.

The way he uses his fist, elbow and knees are either muay Thai or MMA fighter.

Don't engage him physically.

[3:34 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Police need at least 3 or 4 well built man to overcome such trained fighter.

[3:34 pm, 24/05/2021] +Noraini: Learn Krav Maga.

[3:36 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Yes... come to think of it.. the lady who was seen running away... probably was rushing off after managing to secure a last minute booking of a Krav Maga crash course 😂

[3:58 pm, 24/05/2021] +Smiley face: I don't know much about muay, thai, mma, fishing nets or 5 policemen.

I do know there is no place for gangsterism nor Street fighting.

Suggest minimum 1 week jail and ONE stroke of the cane by our prison services.... to "cool" things down across areas of conflicts!

[4:04 pm, 24/05/2021] +Simon: Best help one can render in these situations is to alert the authorities and record the incident. We are not trained to intervene in a fight like this one.

[4:05 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: 👍

[4:53 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Agree he flips knife that it and goes amok like a rat caught in a corner. Worse

[4:54 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: wah, thanks for sharing, this is new info.  Always better to take more precautions than less

[4:54 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: If lady I will intervene. If that guy will need support from the rest of male passengers. If none.

[4:55 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: They carry stun guns too

[4:58 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha sometimes anger is burning oil 🪔

[4:59 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Street fighters are experience. They may dig your eyes out. It's survival for them and and every day affair

[5:01 pm, 24/05/2021] +An fan: Our airport workers and officers should not share washrooms with passengers!

[5:01 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Yeah if rich and influencial person or break his chin or jaw 🤣🤣😅😅

[5:01 pm, 24/05/2021] +65 9690 0939: Changi Airport to segregate workers based on COVID-19 exposure risk

Again, I'm surprised that this isn't already done. But better too late than never.

[5:02 pm, 24/05/2021] +An fan: Let our airport officers have locked washrooms for staff use only

[5:02 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Muay Thai their shin are harden by training.

[5:05 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Trained fighter hardened their punch, kicks, elbows and knees by hitting sand bags

They also trained to take hit and can endure pain

The only way to beat a trained fighter is to strike his vital points and this may result in serious injuries or even death.

He may also know how to do the same to you.

Thus, is best to scare him then engage him in the fight.

[5:07 pm, 24/05/2021] +jimmy chew: I user to tell dog lovers to chain their big dogs. They obliged. One day this big size man pushed me to to Wall and say why so Kaypo. He said His dog is trained and asked me to mind my own business. Now I just take photo and report to the authorities. Let them fine him

[5:09 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: MOM, this is the time to be decisive and forceful. If you can make it MANDATORY for employers to give FDWs at least 1 day off per week, I don’t see why you can’t pass a temporary law during this critical period, to stop FDWs from roaming the streets on their off days and instead, place the burden on employers to enforce a “non-law”.

While i have no problem encouraging my FDW to stay home because she has been with our family for over 10 yrs and is equally terrified of catching CV19, I can imagine there are many others who don’t enjoy this same privilege.

If you have been keeping an ear close to the ground, you would probably be aware that FDWs now have the upper hand when it comes to negotiations of employment terms due to the availability of replacement …

[5:09 pm, 24/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Take video and give it to police is needed to prosecute him later.

To stop his assault, using psychological fear could be a good method - as inherently, subconsciously - people are fearful of authority.

Anyway crime experts are best to advise the public the right way to do under such circumstances.

[5:10 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: yesterday I see, looks  ok lei.

[5:11 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Apologies for hijacking the conversation.. but the chat was closed last week right after this was posted. Think this is very important since community cases, some unlinked, are rising.

[5:11 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, agreed. Should be mandatory anyway really. Can't be right forcing someone to work 7 days a week without a break.

[5:15 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Of course must have day of rest. But during this period when everyone is on heightened alert due to the rising community cases, everyone has to do their part to minimise unnecessary outings. Making it mandatory to stay indoors, makes it easier for some employers who may otherwise face objection from their FDWs.

[5:21 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: To release a "strong advisory" creates unnecessary tension since the Employer may want to restrict their FDW's outings while their FDW is also right to want to exercise their right to go out since the law does not explicitly state otherwise.

Would have been better if the Govt did not release the "Advsory" in my opinion.

[5:22 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Changi Airport workers to be segregated into risk-based zones; travellers from 'very high-risk' places to use T2 remote gates

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/airport-workers-to-be-segregated-into-risk-based-zones-take-more-frequent-tests-as-changi

We stand guided by the best advice," he added, noting that in the past, prolonged activity was seen as high risk. This has since changed, with any kind of activity in zones where workers interact with passengers regarded as risky.

[5:22 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: think will be more effective if domestic helper given $ from employer for staying home during off day during tighten measures period.  Employer to be funded by levy rebate

[5:23 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: MOH may got to use TT data and start ring fance

[5:23 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Public transport how?

[5:24 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Oh I see, employers are not letting the helper stay home? Isn't that bad for the helper and the employer?

[5:25 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: I think we are all amazed this wasn't already happening.

[5:25 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya lor

[5:25 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, how do they get to and from work?

[5:32 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: As in those covid positive cases and took public transport

[5:34 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Ahhh.. that's not what i mean 😅

MOM issued an "advisory" last week, to "strongly encourage" FDWs to stay home on their off days.

My point is, issuing this toothless advisory is meaningless since FDWs who are matured/sensible, would anyway ask to stay home on their days off or ask to cancel their weekly leave (and be paid for work) instead.

On the other hand, for FDWs who are taking the situation lightly, they would probably insist on exercising their right to go out on their legally mandated weekly off-day against their Employers' wishes/concern.

So, if the Govt is really concerned that FDWs mingling irresponsibly on their day offs is a potential threat during this period when community cases are rising, then they should make it explicit and enact a temporary law requiring FDWs to stay home even on their days off.

[5:36 pm, 24/05/2021] +Simon: Ah yes. Was a bit confused by ur earlier argument😅

[5:40 pm, 24/05/2021] +Stella Yip: u wanna just take away their right without giving them anything in return. how can. sounds so unfair. can give incentive for them to stay home. but will still be optional. cannot force.  they will think why employer can go out but i cannot. why maybe i bring covid home, employer also can bring covid home wat.

[5:42 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: Agreed - this is a bit odd. There is no where for anyone to go to, but none of us are mandated to stay home.

[5:45 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: If the Govt can force Employers to give FDWs a day off every week, permanently, regardless of the Employers' circumstances for hiring an FDW in the first place, I don't see why the Govt cannot now, pass a temporary law if necessary.

Besides, no one is saying don't pay your FDW for working. The current rule/law mandates that your FDW may choose to stay home on their days off, but they must be allowed to rest and not be made to do household chores etc.

[5:46 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: While MPs were fighting on the Reserve we have. Lol

[5:46 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: I think we are confused about the temporary law - forcing only FDWs to stay home while everyone else can go out?

[5:47 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: but it's ok for the FDW to go out during the week, just not on their day off?

[5:49 pm, 24/05/2021] +Jospeh Ong: Oh .. you are right.. it is a bit harsh mandate that our FDW cannot leave the house  😅  maybe too used to my FDW voluntarily staying home to rest in her room on some of her off days when she doesn't feel like going out 😅

[5:57 pm, 24/05/2021] +Ben: 👍

[6:04 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Changi Airport workers to be segregated into risk-based zones

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/airport-workers-to-be-segregated-into-risk-based-zones-take-more-frequent-tests-as-changi

So is MOH going to fine CAG?

[6:04 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: For not having SMM

[6:07 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: Never even split into 2 zones

[6:07 pm, 24/05/2021] +Caleb: As what MOM guidelines on having at least 2 work groups
