[6:32 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: Can allow people who want to get this to jab first. Don't wait liao

[6:32 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: Time is not in our hands ....

[6:32 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: 16 and 17 year old also not yet. Lol

[6:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: have this been tested locally sorry idid not read the article only know US CDC side 6 days ago recommend

[6:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but it is impt to ensure we do a thru test to make sure nothing is wrong

[6:35 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: You can immediately see the stark contrast between the old Heath Minister and the new Health Minister. One plays it safe but short term view one is long term view more strategic but also riskier cos it’s uncharted territory (no country let second jab in 6 to 8 weeks by default if I’m not wrong).

[6:35 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: a kids life time is much longer than adult ....

[6:35 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: alvin yes

[6:35 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: UK

[6:35 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: My hats off to Min Ong for taking a more strategic and risked move.

[6:36 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Oh they also 8 weeks second jab?

[6:36 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: Have. Think in US or UK at some point if time...

[6:36 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: again those are numbers for reference

[6:36 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: am sure locally for adults there are some behind the curtain test done

[6:36 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but kids vaccine is very rush

[6:37 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: only couple of weeks ago did US starts the jab for kids and now is our turn that is super fast

[6:37 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: or was there behind the curtain test ?

[6:37 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: call me paranoid but if any thing happen to the kid is going to be with him / her for 40-60 years

[6:38 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: compare to adults maybe 20-30 years

[6:38 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: Think from the start, Pfizer is for 16.and above

[6:38 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. It is very clear that vaccination is being make the primary tool to tackle the covid-19.

2. With good filtration mask and social distancing measure as the supporting measures.

[6:38 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: good move what about helpers

[6:39 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: is there a mandatory order also to have them jab while with the adult nation wide jab?

[6:39 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: u dun wan to have a weakest link in a household to again

[6:39 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

A covid-19 test cost $200.

[6:40 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: couple with national security in mind subsidy abit lah 150 also good is a jab only

[6:40 pm, 18/05/2021] +REACH: MOH says airborne transmission of Covid-19 'stronger possibility' in some settings; plausible factor in TTSH

[6:44 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: If they are unable to leave home, unlikely they will get infected I think

[6:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Good! rope in the taxi companies to send all these home call medical staff ....(helping each other mah)

[6:45 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Good initiatives - for homebound people!

[6:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: if it is air borne how ...

[6:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Ventilation is very important

[6:46 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Open windows and use fan, not always use aircon

[6:46 pm, 18/05/2021] +~N: They have caretakers who can pass it to them

[6:46 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Yeah that is true.

[6:52 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/retailers-call-for-support-sales-fall-tightened-covid-19-rules-14827652

A heightened measures lockdown can cause severe impact to retail business.

[6:52 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Retail business hurt.

2. Workers hurt.

3. If new Budget is needed - our financial reserves hurt.

Thus mass vaccination to defeat the covid - is the only way out to prevent such economic and financial mauling.

Periodic lockdown when infection rise should not be the preferred choice.

Mass vaccination, and as last resort - Mandatory Vaccination - should be the best option if persuasive approach to Vaccination is not effective.

Just like mandating face mask wearing in public.

Vaccination like wearing masks - should be made a National Duty - amidst a virus pandemic crisis.

[7:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ken: Now we know why cannot wear face shield

[7:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, good to see bolder action.

[7:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Yup but not any Asian countries

[7:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: UK US and other counties all delay 2nd jab to get more people thier first dose more quickly. It proved very effective in the UK to do this

[7:31 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: It’s also not the default

[7:31 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: 👍

[7:32 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Unless you visited White Sands...

[7:33 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: It can infect vaccinated people

[7:33 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: If unable to leave home why is vaccination a priority?

[7:33 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Lol yes

[7:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Wouldn't the caretakers be vaccinated? Seems like that is the priority.

[7:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +Vivian: I hope during this period - eating places can be open for people who really cannot eat at their own places because their landlord doesn't allow them to. It's so sad to see they have to eat at such places. Why isn't we able to extend help for them?

[7:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ken: Think of the extend… tekong

[7:38 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: 100% agree.  They act like it's all over. The first dose will be wearing off. The new variants are more contagious

[7:39 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: From Pfizer?

[7:39 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Both AZ and pfizer

[7:40 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Just recently right?

[7:40 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Last year their advice is within 4 weeks thereabouts

[7:43 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Oh sure, the UK gov did it this year against medical advice in order to reduce the spread. Now the advice is that its ok to do to lol

[7:43 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Like people take any notice of that lol....

[7:44 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: As long as mask still ok can just first jab and wait for more vaccines

[7:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: And I agree with the medical advise to wear the 2 ply mask instead of cloth one

[7:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +Dong Liang: Too early to say, it may be the other way, by the time they declare complete CB it will have a much higher price to pay.

[7:45 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, surgical really. Especially on mrt and other close spaces

[7:46 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: True, no way of knowing but that what bold leadership is about.

[7:47 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: I didn’t say we doing good just that bold leadership may take calculated risks.

[7:47 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: And you can see the difference

[7:47 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Rather than status quo until another CB

[7:48 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: from now till the next cb is based on ground situation

[7:48 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: risk assessment must have been done they have better brains up there dan all of us here .....

[7:51 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but end of the day accointability must be clearly spelt ... is not always the society at fault

[7:52 pm, 18/05/2021] +Anne: My BFF waiting for this to be approved. He said he doesn’t want the mRNA vaccines, so he decided on Sinovac when HSA announced they will be assessing it.

[7:56 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: why not they say PHV reject them

[7:57 pm, 18/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: in the same industry we saw HOW PHV reject trips to TTSH

[7:57 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: I hope it doesn’t lead to the supermarket run cluster

[7:57 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Xiasuay cluster

[8:02 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: I’m kind of worried about the vaccination strategy because how many young kids are vaccinated in other countries?

[8:02 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes.

The community cases and unlink cases far exceeded the 1st CB.

No one has clue where the unlink cases come from.

This is the scary part.

[8:02 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: Is Singapore one of the first country making this first move to vaccinate the young kids and on what basis?

[8:03 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Israel has run vaccines on kids

[8:09 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: Good sharing on the articles guys. At least it has been trial and tested in quite a few countries. Just hope it is effective in SG too.

[8:09 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: It has probably saved millions of lives and reduce infection rates and symptoms 100x.

[8:09 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: 👍

[8:10 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: This feels similar to what they said when we had our first CB that time and after that we had an extension of one more month. 🥲

[8:10 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, we can't expect drops to zero again for quite a while, I suspect it'll be worse before better but hopefully we turn the corner by end of June.

[8:10 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Exactly

[8:11 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: I’m actually hoping that they can just be stricter so we can all get through it faster.

[8:11 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes totally lockdown for non essentials

[8:12 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: But we do need a plan for when it comes back again, can't keep locking down

[8:12 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: We are lucky it was a year after the first one. SG has been very lucky through good policies and  community suport

[8:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: https://youtu.be/fr3LdiX6mCQ

[8:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: Yep but looking at what other countries have been doing, this is unfortunately the most efficient method and we have proven it last year with our CB.

[8:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: We have benefited from a good approach to this pandemic

[8:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: We were number 1 remember!

[8:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, it's not sustainable though. Maybe we rely on the vaccine and have everyone covered by the end of September.

[8:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Covid won't go away but maybe become like a flu.

[8:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: It is a fast and painful method but better than prolonging the pain and eventually having to lock-down ultimately again. 🥲

[8:15 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: This

[8:15 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Covid will be another flu deadly to us now but not so next time

[8:16 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: Hope so 🙏🏻

[8:16 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Actually I wonder how many billion we will be burning this round for the lockdown.

We cannot keep doing periodic lockdown and burning billion of dollars as we lockdown each time.

Mass vaccination is to prevent outbreak and refrain from future lockdown.

[8:16 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Dont be too happy about another flu .... way better than covid19 though! https://www.health.com/condition/cold-flu-sinus/how-many-people-die-of-the-flu-every-year

[8:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Cannot no. My hope is this new CB gets us to a time when we are all vaccinated.

[8:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +Suma pamu: Is it another variant emerged here😳?

Didn't understand properly😟

[8:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +Yan: Haha passing the blame I guess 😂

[8:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +Suma pamu: 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

[8:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +CQ: the article is iffy about it, but i gathered that they're concerned that since the current outbreak in Sg seems to be hitting kids, this could be a new jam which could end up going back to bite them.

[8:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: It’s politic. If there is one from Singapore,  the WHO will assign a variant number. Passing blame

[8:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +CQ: yes, passing the blame. what a position to take.....

[8:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: I think our FM should refute him

[8:19 pm, 18/05/2021] +CQ: that's why i posted here, so that REACH can take this back to whoever

[8:19 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Another good reason to stop these country names for variants.

[8:20 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe not good to get into a bickering match,or give credibility to him. Arguing with a foolish statement doesn't go well for anyone.

[8:20 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: This type of statement will cause some anti Indian feelings here

[8:21 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: Although maybe for own domestic consumption

[8:21 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: I meant India politician own domestic

[8:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: Hope Gov can allow SINOVAC, so more people can get some protection, better then none.

[8:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +65 9739 7222: The piece of story written in that newspaper is rumous.

[8:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +CQ: it's not anti-Indian. it's anti-falsehood and it's an issue of national image. here we are trying so hard to establish cross-border relations with various countries, with a headline like that, it will negate whatever efforts that our govt has been putting in.

[8:24 pm, 18/05/2021] +Thomas: That’s why our FM need their government to refute it else not good

[8:24 pm, 18/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Yeah especially those who have businesses in China and also for those who wants to set up businesses in China

[8:26 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: This

[8:26 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Hate to say it but 50% efficacy is better than 0%

[8:27 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: As long as no deaths occurred and we still wear our masks it should be ok

[8:27 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: But I think the initial batch might have already expired

[8:28 pm, 18/05/2021] +CQ: no ah, they said the shelf life is 2 years.

[8:29 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: 😱

[8:29 pm, 18/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: So long?

[8:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: just jab la

[8:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: no point keep

[8:30 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: need $$$ to keep them also

[9:06 pm, 18/05/2021] +REACH: Dear Contributors,

Thank you for your views so far, We want to HEAR MORE from you!

We have had good feedback from this group, and we hope that we can keep the discussion robust and active!

Megan😊

[9:11 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: For teens 12-15 years old, I do not think we need to rush. Again it is still experimental. Let us adults take first. Maybe monitor 2 years.

[9:12 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: O matter what we all need to have social distancing and masks on. and regular classroom ventilation will help.

[9:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: I see a major problem not having the kids vaccinated. I hope we can extend to a younger group soon.

[9:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Anne: Agree. Let other countries try it first and see the results. Eg we now know that AZ and J&J causes blood clots for some people in Europe and US

[9:13 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe they have a milder dose if people are worried, but otherwise they are completely vulnerable.

[9:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, they have been trying it. That's what the trials were doing.

[9:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: True, but it was a handful of people out of 100s of millions of doses.

[9:14 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: No system is perfect, we have to take the odds.

[9:15 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: In the long run maybe there are more.

[9:15 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Getting covid as a kid could create health problems for the rest if their lives.

[9:16 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: But we can only act on what we know or what we can estimate.

[9:16 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: We can't do nothing, "just in case."

[9:16 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: If there is no evidence of harm it doesn't mean there will never be harm, just a very low likelihood.

[9:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Even fully vaccinated people still catch virus. And those had it can catch it second time. How can we risk kids so young to have blood clots in the future

[9:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes and those who get infected are not dying or suffering badly like those not vaccinated

[9:17 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: The evidence shows us vaccination is safe and reduces harm

[9:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: The rare blood clots happened within a few weeks

[9:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: It is still too early to say.

[9:18 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Not to early to say covid kills and causes major health issues

[9:19 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: I'd rather we deal with problems we know about, that are affecting us today.

[9:19 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: All infected kids have mild symptoms right? According to news.

[9:19 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Otherwise we take no action because one day something bad might happen.

[9:20 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: I'm not saying anything is 100% one or the other. That's the point. We have to take decisions on balance.

[9:20 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Look at countries with no vaccinations, compared to those with. Which would you choose?

COVID-19 (coronavirus): Long-term effects

Which one is worst?

To get infected or to get vaccinated?

Parents decide for your kids.

[9:21 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: So all those fully vaccinated people in SG have no symptoms?

[9:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Only very mild or asymptomatic, I dont know about every case.

[9:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: But let's assume it's a 70% reduction, for example. A bad case or a vaccinated person could have led to death without the vaccine.

[9:22 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: It would be interesting to know the stats.

[9:23 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: If they showed a huge reduction in symptons, would you support it?

[9:23 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Understand your point. But to me chances of infection is quite low. But getting vaccinated may trigger side effects.

[9:23 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: guess, end of the day is the parents to decide

[9:23 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: and if the child want it or not

[9:24 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: if scared of needle or what

[9:24 pm, 18/05/2021] +Ben: Yes I see that. However the chances are no longer low. The side effects now have a lower risk than catching the virus, and then spreading it or getting seriously ill.

[9:24 pm, 18/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Chances of infection quite low?

I thought many community cases and unlink cases all over the place now?

[9:25 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Teen 12-15 must have parents’ signature to take jabs! How can they be vaccinated without parents permission!

[9:25 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: ya la

[9:25 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: so parents will decide

[9:26 pm, 18/05/2021] +Caleb: no nobody say is a must to get jab

[9:31 pm, 18/05/2021] +Anne: Thought Singapore did some study and found that HCQ is useful in helping to prevent infection? Anyway Trump is not the only one promoting HCQ. No need to associate HCQ with Trump.

[9:31 pm, 18/05/2021] +YT: Trump promoted drinking bleach and sanitizers.

[9:32 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: Yes that is true.

[9:34 pm, 18/05/2021] +An fan: I believe those vaccinated people have protections to themselves only, so far created more problems to those not vaccinated people. That is why there are so many unlinked cases.

The problem is unvaccinated people will cause problems to the community:-

1. If infected will cause serious illness and crippled the ICU if there are too many of them.

2. More unvaccinated people cannot achieve the herd immunity to curb the virus spread.

3. Too many resources and money have been wasted to test and protect against the covid.

4. Economy got to lockdown as more unvaccinated people are infected.
