We want to HEAR MORE from you! 🤗

💬 Which of the new tightened COVID-19 measures impact you the most? How do you plan to adapt to the measures that will take effect tomorrow?

📝 RECAP:

Singapore will impose further restrictions on social activities from 16 May to 13 June, in an effort to stem the spread of Covid-19 cases in the community.

📍Group sizes to be cut from 5 to 2 pax; up to 2 unique household visitors a day

📍 Dining-in to cease; only takeaway and food delivery allowed

📍 Work-from-home to be the default, no cross-deployment

📍Services which require masks to be removed (e.g facials, saunas) to cease

In line with these measures, safe management measures across educational institutions will also be tightened:

📍Classes will be done in cohorts, and lectures capped at a maximum of 50 persons.

📍Schools will enforce fixed seating with one-metre spacing for recess, with no intermingling.

📍Group sizes across all activities will be reduced from five to two.

[10:01 am, 15/05/2021] +Timothy Low: My outdoor exercise classes got cancelled so now can only exercise on my own.

[10:05 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: there are grey areas which many had concern espically those with x1 or more children? so may be going forth need further clarification as some cannot maneuver without clear clarification they stand there in confusion state

[10:05 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: aka 2 adults + 1 kid (say below 6) is it 2 adults or 3 adults

[10:06 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: aka 2 adults + a baby is it 2 person or 2.5

[10:06 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: if 2 adults + 2 kids (one is 12 one is below 6) is it 4 person

[10:06 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so going forth better be clear on this point

[10:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: like those below age of 5 are consider kid aka not a headcount

[10:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: anything above age of 6 will be listed as a headcount .. easier for ppl to make decision

[10:10 am, 15/05/2021] +YT: Not much impact to me. These should have been done 2 or 3 weeks ago. Let's hope it's still not too late. In fact, stricter measures should be in place, like size limits in public parks (where crowds of people walk and run with masks off).

[10:10 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: depoly more SDA in parks and start booking those who fake exercise and are group bitching instead

[10:11 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: can see and smell those who really exercise , those smell as if they came out from bath sure is fake hahahaha

[10:11 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: book them dun give face

[10:12 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: also some aunties and uncle dam smart brisk walking, this one really need exercise expert to determinded

[10:12 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: else everyone also can say i brisk walk in my slippers and sports attire

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. The announcement from 5 to 2 come too sudden and too short to react.

2. Only have 1 and a half day to react.

3. Yesterday everyone had to cancel all the appointment - just to ensure that we can buy all the necessary work at home office stuff for my son who have just graduated.

Else cannot work from home.

3. Also got to restock the food on low supply - to ensure sufficient for one month - as more people work at home.

4. Today I bet will have long queues everywhere.

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: we all know what are the loops holes so let's close up all these loop holes else how many CB do you wanna see more

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but still can go out what

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: why the worry

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: just carry on as daily life

[10:13 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: unless u eat out every day

[10:14 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: also was yesterday the first time we suppose to work from home

[10:14 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: noooo

[10:14 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so in fact the impact is not very big nor disruptive , if you are not in FNB / taxi / phv industry or any of those that needs crowd

[10:15 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: those who cry father mother about yesterday announcement i suggest please go Q at mediacorp to ask them give u a job si beh kua zhang

[10:16 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: like end of the world, singapore no food , all super markets closed down .. duhhh .... super market sooo happy we make them billionaires ok

[10:16 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Everyone has his unique circumstances that you may not understand.

Don't just jump to conclusions.

Else why REACH ask for feedback?

[10:16 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: share to all your ppl, life still carry on , people still can go out , go out in pair to pak tor, shopping, grocery shopping , but all eat at home

[10:17 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

That's what you thought.

A pair is good enough - may not be true to some others

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: sorry but have to quote you also DUN JUMP TO CONCLUSION also - yesterday everyone had to cancel all the appointment - > everyone means all in singapore ahh

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: sorry not me

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: i did not even go buy

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: am sure others too ..

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

My whole family members have to cancel all our appointment.

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: ur whole family then just say

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: MY FAMILY have to cancel

[10:18 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: not everyone mah ...

[10:19 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so dun conclude also mah

[10:19 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so in short, the bottom line is we have not learnt and recover from past expereinced

[10:19 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: sorry england no good

[10:19 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: one annoucement all panice like rats

[10:19 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Can read point 3.

I am talking about my family.

You jump to conclusion too fast.

[10:20 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: den some cannnot managed say this and that ...

[10:20 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: no need govt spelt out things clearly always for us

[10:20 am, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha to me no effect because one day we're all going to die. It's a matter of time 🤣

[10:21 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: example 1 trip to super market cannot this time (usualy is possible because army of family go) then make a couple more trips can die meh

[10:21 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: wahh u dam straight to the dot

[10:21 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: hahahahaha

[10:21 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: either early or latter niah correct

[10:21 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If you can't buy all the office work stuff with all the necessary tailor custom electronic gadgets how to work?

[10:22 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: seriously i think this time round no total shut down got its obvious reason, and is good to really limit the human foot print while keep some parts of the business sector alive

[10:22 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: the 1st one was really pain for all

[10:22 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: across the board .. now is much much better

[10:23 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: dun know how and when will our society know espically to the so call i know it all and i am right type of mindset haisssss.

[10:24 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

That's why don't jump to conclusion so fast when you don't understand others painpoint.

[10:25 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: olease lah U  urself say u rush to buy food to subtain one mth yesterday

[10:25 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: what sort of mindset is that

[10:25 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: dun tell me 30 days u NOT STEPPING OUT OF YOUR HOUSE

[10:25 am, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes all office work stuff plus food to cook at home.

[10:26 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: i dun wan argue on such point

[10:27 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: up to u lah bri .. u wanna store 30 days or whatever is up to you but my word is NO NEED TO HOARD TO ALL

[10:27 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: still can go out buy

[10:27 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: from yesterday till today the same message comes out from my keyboard please spread around

[10:28 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: dun be misled by hearsay .....

[10:28 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Why never give SHN for those went to Changi airport?

Then what's the point for SafeEntry?

[10:28 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: shop and many are still open during the 30days unless u die die need something from changi or jewel then different case

[10:29 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: not all die die will tio mah

[10:29 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: BUT

[10:29 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: those recorded have been ask to do swab

[10:32 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: It's basically circuit breaker again. Not being able to leave the house with my wife and son to go for a walk or to the park is a bit ridiculous I think. Maybe limit this restriction to indoor spaces and no intermingling of households would be better.

[10:33 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Agreed

[10:33 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: thus i ask this question what about for family of 3 or more where 2 adults and little kids

[10:33 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: this a bit grey but give them some time or improvement

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: the focus now is to curb the spread in community

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: first focus

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: ya

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: and not create more problems

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: socially

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: i mean as long as not in a crowd

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: else liek that mrt can only take 1 pax per cabin

[10:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: bus also 1 bus per pax and taxi or phv too

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: funny right

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so saf rule nuber 7

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: What is Gov going to do ah. Knowing that the virus was from the India variant and from flights from India

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: dun say liao lah

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: this one smelly topic already stale / chai sng

[10:35 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: I never hear, what extra measure they going to do. Other then the workers are being cohort.

[10:36 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: The gov like stupid. Never think ahead.  Must make them think

[10:36 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Need citizens to help them think

[10:36 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: cannot say like that all human got error de

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but when involved society yes have to be a bit mor cautious

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: But Gov is alot of humans

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: one sala move chain reaction

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: u angry now also no used

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: 44 countries had been infacted

[10:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: my question now to all

[10:38 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: If gov don't know what to do. Then stop the flights

[10:38 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: DOES BURNING OF INFECTED BODIES IN PUBLIC INFLICT AN ESCALATED SPREAD VIA WIND CHANNEL

[10:38 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Just like wuhan

[10:38 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: We do that here?

[10:38 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: cos is weird suddenly the our region had been carpet bomb by this B1617

[10:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Then u see those workers will get it

[10:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: india is burning there bodies in public (i respect is their tradition) but does those flames is hot enuff to kill the germs not whatever is burnt there are up current airwaves ......

[10:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Alternative is purchase online but drawback is cannot feel or check purchase prior.

[10:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Kopitiam Square food centre in Sengkang and eateries islandwide visited by Covid-19 cases while infectious

https://sg.news/?p=544392

[10:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Only old people & children under 12 can not clear dirty plates & get away with it & other rules by NEA

https://sg.news/?p=544383

[10:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: my concern is with so many bodies burning in india does it escalate the spread via winds ....

[10:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Will not fly to Singapore la

[10:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: The 2 vistitors per household one impacts me the most. We occasionally have in-laws or my parents over to help with looking after our little one if she’s not feeling well. We will easily hit the amount with no spare number for other guests. There will be others who holding weddings, first month/birthday celebration and the like will be severely impacted.

However, I applaud the swiftness to ban dine-in patrons cos it’s about damn time something is done about those crowd who sit there without masks on hours with just a drink in front of them. My 2.14 cents.

[10:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: suddenly thailand / vietnam / singapore / malaysia  exploded with infection

[10:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Primary sch can return plates right? Why are they being excuse

[10:41 am, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: hahahah joke ahh yes it can via airplane lor hahahahaha

[10:41 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: They say airplane the air exchange very high. Other then the air in the luggage and boxes... Lol

[10:42 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: So now primary sch canteen got cleaner to clear their plates?

[10:49 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Freeze wages of low-income earners instead of pay cuts, boost wages where possible, NWC urges employers https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/freeze-wages-of-low-income-earners-instead-of-pay-cuts-boost-wages-where-possible-nwc?&utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=addtoany

[10:50 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Ask NEA

[10:50 am, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Since young wring habit liao... at the age of 13... she likely will not clear also...

[10:51 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♂️😞😔

[10:54 am, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Yeah they should start from the young like Japan

[10:55 am, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Why pay cleaning companies and get customers to clean 🤣

[10:55 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: If sch can, why outside are excuses

[10:57 am, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Not sure who esrns the government or the cleaning companies. For surely the elderly cleaners will not get more

[11:04 am, 15/05/2021] +Dan: They can... But make them subject to law.

[11:05 am, 15/05/2021] +Dan: Dun think u wan to fine children under 12 right?

[11:06 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: Agreed. Like that mentality teach kid wrong value. Even japan starts gd culture for kid..

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: It is not fine or fine.. They must be taught a value.. Like that give child wrong value

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Demerits points lo... this will affect their choice of sec school

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Believe so

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: Wont link this... Study is study...

Do community work better

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Better to have culture people than just smart people that got no conciliatory

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Conscious *

[11:07 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: 👍

[11:08 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: Agreed. Also have that kind of attitude n no moral culture

[11:11 am, 15/05/2021] +Dan: The value of education is they are given a chance to learn rather than to conform using rules. Youngs will learn when everyone else around is doing it. So dun worry, they will do the "right thing"

[11:11 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: Kids are the gd source of training...

Eg when they cross road, why they can auto raise their hand?learn in sch right...

That is why kids dun even allowed to exempt fr return plate.

For elderly n pregnant lady , i guess they will be helping hand ard.

[11:12 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: As mentioned in the previous msg, why in sch they cqn auto return plate but not outside.. Like that contra...

[11:14 am, 15/05/2021] +Stella Yip: Some people live hand to mouth, no cash no food. No telling if G will extend the rules or not.

[11:16 am, 15/05/2021] +Stella Yip: Any e-budget for these people?

[11:22 am, 15/05/2021] +Dan: I have the same question. The implementation will definite affect the livelihoods of some people. Will there be a relief for them?

The Singapore Prison Service (SPS) will be testing about 5,000 inmates, staff, vendors and volunteers over the next few days after a chef working in the prison kitchen at Changi Prison Complex tested positive for Covid-19 on Thursday (May 13).

In a statement released on Saturday, SPS said inmate activities including rehabilitation programmes will be suspended to facilitate the testing.

It also said that vendors and volunteers who are affected by the temporary suspension of activities will be notified.

[11:27 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I am starting to think we need to learn how to live with this virus. We can't shut down everytime a 100 people get sick.

[11:28 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: If it was just down to us maybe this is the right approach, but unless we are closing our borders forever we will never eradicate the virus

[11:28 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe once the population is 70-80% vaccinated we can be more flexible

[11:32 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya lor

[11:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: It will be interesting to see what happens in the uS where masks are no longer required for those vaccinated.

[11:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Will their numbers go back up

[11:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Mr brother lives in the US and he says its pretty much back to normal.

[11:34 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Madness I think, but we'll see

[11:36 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: The issue is ppls still dun learn. Some sinkies dun follow smm.

Eg 1. Why Chinatown so many old folks(some chin mask) more than 10 still crowding for a card of games.

2. Some aunts n uncle playing dunno what at rc void deck.

3. Some no mask take lift down. Some no mask walk into cp.. Thinking only short distance..

4. Some hawker stall bo mask on or chin mask (dun they need mouth shield)

5. Most dun cover nose..

[11:37 am, 15/05/2021] +XaniceAfcai: Wrong concept thinking.. Sigh..

[11:37 am, 15/05/2021] +Girl waving hand: I think the government needs to take accountability for this wave. 1st wave we attribute to act of God. 2nd wave we attribute to ignorance. 3rd, 4th, 5th wave?? I attribute it to pandemic management. we knew what was going on with the covid situation from our countries. of cos we need essential workers from these countries to keep our systems running. however we don't need LTVP and STVP holders from these countries. all these border controls ought to be tightened in light of the covid situation. officials in charge of border controls and pandemic management need to take accountability for this wave.

[11:39 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: +1

[11:40 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Fair points, it's a hard balance between opening and keeping safe. Maybe they let slip a couple of places, but perhaps this just shows it only takes one slip up out of 1000 decisions  to create huge problems

[11:41 am, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: To be honest ..

No Dining policy impacts the most since my family usually settles our meals outside of my home especially with our busy schedules .

Since we are expected to work from home , it will be back to the  previous regime; dabao or food delivery  more often than before .

[11:43 am, 15/05/2021] +Girl waving hand: yes but shouldn't horizon monitoring be implemented for border controls to be tightened according to covid situations in other countries. LTVP, STVP and DP from high risk countries are non essential to our country. but we continue to let in even though there has long been reports of new, more virulent strains.

[11:44 am, 15/05/2021] +Girl waving hand: makes me wonder what goes on during our government annual planning at the start of the year in light of the current covid situation

[11:45 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Ok,  I wasn't aware, yes agreed.

[11:45 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: It would be interesting to see the meeting transcripts

[11:49 am, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya lor

[11:54 am, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: Do you agree with See Toh ?

[11:56 am, 15/05/2021] +Rama: Current assistance needs to be tweaked to include them

[11:56 am, 15/05/2021] +Alex: What on earth is the point of SafeEntry and TraceTogether if 50 people getting Covid (1 in 500,000 of the population!!) results in the entire country having to lock down again?

The whole point of these systems was to allow MOH to trace who could have been infected on put only those on SHN.

If SafeEntry and TraceTogether work, this new lockdown is totally unnecessary and if they don't we might as well scrap them.

[11:59 am, 15/05/2021] +Alex: Sorry 1 in 100,000.

[11:59 am, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Yes I think people are going to feel this is an overreaction. Maybe it's not but a 2 person limit basically confines us to the home for 1 month

[0:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya lor

[0:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: As a family I mean

[0:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: We live together so how is it a risk going out together?

[0:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe stop the intermingling that would make more sense.

[0:01 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: And then at the end of 1 month what happens .... we open a little but again and it comes back in July.... we lockdown again??

[0:01 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: It would be good to understand the plan.

[0:04 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: If the vaccination reduces symptoms by 90% maybe when more vaccines are completed we can take a different approach. I do worry for the kids of course. I hope MOE are taking proper precautions with teachers like testing 2 times a week and mandating vaccines.

[0:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Do we know if all teachers are vaccinated yet?

[0:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: How often are they tested?

[0:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alex: Think this shows the technology doesnt work or a total over-reaction, either way not good.

[0:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Technology need to use wisely

[0:06 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Is not grab food in this case

[0:06 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: It need both society and technology to work together

[0:06 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: If got ppl who refuse to it it will defeats the purpose also just like ermmm epayment? Hahahaha

[0:07 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alex: Claimed adoption is 90%.  If that level of adoption can't avoid a lockdown, it doesn't work.

[0:08 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I have to agree actually. Unless they can show TT prevented some bigger outbreak somehow. Did they manage to intercept the spread for example?

[0:12 pm, 15/05/2021] +Valli: Good values , manners, & habits need to be instilled from a young age, from K1 can start and make this mandatory in all schools.

[0:18 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: It’s an over reaction .. as I see it . However it’s not entirely wrong to stay cautious .

[0:19 pm, 15/05/2021] +Valli: Hearsay that Teachers are not practising SMM in schools when they are in their own groups or break times. They don’t mask up after eating.

Is there any inspections done by Gov at schools to ensure Teachers are following SMM.

EDB & MOM does adhoc inspections in Shipyards, eateries & etc.  Should enforce inspections in Schools.

[0:20 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: Pls read the policy ..

4. Young, old, and frail will not be penalised

The less-abled, frail elderly, and people with disabilities will not be penalised if they are unable to clear their tables.

Children under 12 will be educated by officers on the importance of leaving a clean table for the next diner.

[0:22 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Hao gong ming come back please and social studies

[0:26 pm, 15/05/2021] +Dong Liang: Last week I  booked a zoo ticket for tommorrow, and now I have to decide which one of my two girls will go with me because of 2 pax rule.

[0:29 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=10157901782342115&id=129011692114

Taiwan is known for their Covid success ... is also

failing ..

[0:30 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Call and ask the zoo maybe can give better directive

[0:32 pm, 15/05/2021] +Dong Liang: I called, they said 3 years is also considered as a headcount. The 2 pax rule has no age limit.

[0:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Why dun just penalise those able people eating with them?

[0:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Hmmm seems like this point needs to really verify by authority

[0:34 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: I mean advise

[0:36 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: The adult will be penalised  as per the policy

[0:36 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: 3 person eating, one of them is old man. All leave the table ... who get penalise?

[0:37 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: The able adults. Unless all 3 of them are frail old men or PWD

[0:38 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Nope... those plates not returned belongs to the old man

[0:39 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: But there are able people in the party. Eg son bring elderly father to eat. Son clears only his own tray and leaves the father's behind??

[0:39 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: But old man not returning not penalised Ma..

[0:40 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: So isn’t more clear to say all will be penalised?

[0:40 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Same... of the old man is so frail... how did he reach the food centre?

[0:40 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: So why need all this funny by left rules?

[0:40 pm, 15/05/2021] +Dan: Hearsay

[0:41 pm, 15/05/2021] +Dan: They are government officers.

[0:41 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: The rationale is so that those frail elderly who are on their own don't have to face a fine if they don't return their trays. This is a nicety gesture in the enforcement. Doesn't mean that as long as you eat out, everyone gets a free pass.

[0:42 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: How they reach the food centre?

[0:42 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: If they walk 500m to reach the food centre... Queue for food and return to table and eat... But not able to return ?

[0:42 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: If they are so weak... Are they accompany by an able adult?

[0:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: So confusing all taobao lah

[0:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: Have you seen those old folks in Chinatown area? Walking stick in one half, slowly hobble hobble to the food centre, then sit down to eat, then hobble hobble off when they're done. How you expect them to be able to hold their trays in one hand and walking stick in another?

[0:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Haiyo

[0:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: This will kill the staycation hotel business as well. I booked 2 deals with no refund option, so now the money is wasted or we sit in a hotel room for 2 days only able to leave on our own (2 adults 1 kid).  I won't be booking again.

[0:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: How they get their food in a tray in the first place?

[0:45 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Gov should mandate refund is allowed, not 'subject to terms of the hotel' as they said in the press release.

[0:45 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Why no refund got news article say can liao reh

[0:45 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: Yes .  Let it go on old and frail . They had reasons not to follow the rules .

As I see it , Most of the seniors will abide with the new ruling .

[0:45 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: no, the article said subject to hotel terms....

[0:46 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Exploit by non seniors

[0:46 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: When u book that time got read the tiny words?

[0:46 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: If no read den cannot blame

[0:46 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: "In addition, STB added that those with hotel bookings between Sunday and June 13 may change their booking dates or request a refund, subject to terms and conditions."

[0:47 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: which people could do anyway, so this wasn't a special concession

[0:47 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: Er.... They usually sit down right in front of the stall, the stallholders come and ask them what they want and serve it to them even though it's generally self service. Haven't you seen them around??

[0:47 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Then stall owner can return... Key is how to avoid exploitation of the rules

[0:48 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I knew that when I booked. It's was a good deal. Otherwise I woulnd't have booked. So in future I won't book.

[0:48 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I'm not blaming, I'm saying I and others won't book in future.

[0:48 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: The refundable bookings are much more expensive.

[0:49 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: Yes.... Thus the exception in the rule mah. It's not going to be an exploitation if you understand the rationale of the rules.

[0:49 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Not all think like you.  3 persons story... The plates and tray belong to the old...

[0:50 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: And bcos if this not a rule, compassionate will be at play... Able adult will help.  Bit not in this case when there is a rule

[0:53 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: This I agree

[0:54 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: Like any policy , it needs refinement .

Let’s have it take due process. With the inputs  and feedbacks from the stakeholders, it can be further improved .

[0:54 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: Well, I'll say let's leave it to the enforcement people to work out how the rule is to be interpreted. If anyone kena and they're not happy, they are free to write their appeals to NEA or claim trial if they are charged in court.

[0:54 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: isn't that what they are supposed to do before rolling out the policy?

[0:54 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: or is it make it up as we go along?

[0:54 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: They do .. of course need further refinement .

[0:55 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: didn't they have a contingency plan in place in case this happens?

[0:55 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Or did it catch everyone by surprise?

[0:55 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: We've only had a 15 months to work it out I suppose.

[0:55 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: And lessons from all around the world.

[0:56 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Feels like a knee jerk reaction with no thought behind it.

[0:56 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: No policy is perfect when it is implemented . It takes Iterations  to improve it

[0:56 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: No one expects perfect, but thought out and clearly explained would be good.

[0:56 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: What are you referring to ?

[0:57 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Hahaha book zoooo support zooooo

[0:57 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I've never seen so many questions on this forum, so clearly it's not clearly thought out and explained.

[0:57 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Use this as a feedback to govt lor ask them to review

[0:57 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Can there be 2 animals in the same area? 😝

[0:58 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, hopefully they can respond quickly. Maybe they need more of us in the forum before they go public!

[0:58 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: lol

[0:58 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: If we are back in CB because of 100+ cases. What lessons were learnt over the last year?

[0:58 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: What provisions were made to avoid this?

[0:59 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Does the zoo allow more than 2 visitors a day?

[0:59 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Agree agree when policy thinkers are professional

[1:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: And paid well

[1:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Like the earlier point - isn't the point of TT to catch the virus before it spreads and not need a CB?

[1:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Maybe I'm being harsh, but is a month CB really needed? How much does it cost financially? Are we going back to the reserves again?

[1:01 pm, 15/05/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Can see one very heng liao

[1:02 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: French President will likely lose his election due to poor handling of Covid. I don't want to see political unrest or upheaval here for the same reason.

[1:02 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha imagined paying a doctor and he says my operational process not fully thought out we need a few iterations. Software play lah but peoples Life.

[1:02 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Using a sledgehammer to crack to nut isn't politically astute. It feels like panic.

[1:04 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: or constructing a building that collapses - "oh well, at least we know for next time to have deeper foundations...."

[1:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: who is responsible for the contingency plan and when did they put the preparations in? What scenarios were played out? What options were considered?

[1:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Was it costed?

[1:05 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: These are simple basic questions.

[1:06 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Imagine General go to war without deep planning hahaha 🤣. They normally do detailed thinking and planning then on the ground the adapt to the situations.

[1:07 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha reminds me of the PMD saga 🤣🤣🤣

[1:07 pm, 15/05/2021] +Caleb: Ya lor

[1:08 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: https://mothership.sg/2021/05/two-person-group-limit-flexible/

For the folks asking about the 2-person limit

[1:08 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Country has basically been shut down for the second time and I think we'd like some answers. That's all.

[1:11 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, saw that. "These situations could include taking public transport," does that include Private Hire (which is basically public transport)?

[1:12 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon Phing: Just imagine if all people diligently use TT for taking public transport...

[1:12 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Also "Strict enforcement measures will be taken against any breaches of the safe management measures", but they are flexible as well in what constitutes a breach. How confusing!

[1:13 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Why cannot they not be clear about these things. Just provide categories of what is and what is not acceptable, and examples in each category.

[1:13 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha cannot enforce. Very subjective evaluation.

[1:13 pm, 15/05/2021] +Smiling face: Civic vs Habit

For the young ones, schools at various level have taught them the basics of hygiene and civic minded

For the adult world, it is good to be responsible to clear your tables.

As for our seniors, it will be a good role model to clear the tables after meal.

Lastly, the frail individuals regardless of age, can be assisted by others or  excuse from clearing the table.

Let us help each other towards a cleaner eating place.

[1:14 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: So we can all go play basketball now? But a walk in the park is no good.

[1:42 pm, 15/05/2021] +KS Foong: If this is a caring society, without any people say, someone could hv these old men!

[1:43 pm, 15/05/2021] +KS Foong: If the old men is an abled man, then we should not hv exception for them

[1:49 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: It's for enforcement purposes. If you don't carve it out, there would be no basis to grant any exceptions and it becomes an arbitrary choice of the enforcement bodies whether to enforce or not. So having this exemption worked into the law is correct from a legal perspective.

[1:51 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon: 👍 and to add your list of good reminders; the Sg society should try our hardest to remain honest and morally courageous - so that if a person has lots of shopping and need to return the tray in a public place, the person can depend on Sg strangers to keep an eye on his/her belongings while he/she  leaves the table with the shopping bags in order to fulfill his/her good civic habit.

The arts sector will also be able to tap the Arts and Culture Resilience Package, which has been topped up over the past year to $75 million.

For the sports sector, recently announced relief measures by Sport Singapore that were initially for up to May 30 will now be extended to June 13. These measures include project grants, operating grants, training assistance grants, and direct cash assistance for those affected.

But it's not keeping ppl safe. Instead the whole nation got to lock down with it.

[2:32 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Lol, let's not go down the Bluetooth thing again.

[2:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Sam: I only agree on one point that government is not transparent enough on the imported cases. A detail breakdown on how many imported cases from which countries as compared to the number of arrivals, the safe guard in place to control the number of imported cases and the daily trend will probably paint a better picture whether the government is reckless in allowing people from high risk countries coming into Singapore.  A lot of comments tend to generalised without sufficient information and details. This has caused misinformation and anger to spread around. There is also finger pointing which is not healthy.

[2:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: I get your point though. Does seem odd it has completely failed at this point

[2:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Agreed

[2:33 pm, 15/05/2021] +Ben: Yes, on all your points.

[2:34 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Yes many ppl have bias confirmation hence they only hear or see what they want and make assumptions and conclusions from it

[2:35 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: @+REACH for your attention pls.

[2:38 pm, 15/05/2021] +Leonard Lau: +1

[2:42 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: Since there is so much attention on the imported cases, perhaps a breakdown could be provided as to the percentages of the imports eg how many are on work permit/work passes (broken down into PMET, construction/maritime roles, and FDWs), how many dependents, STVP, LTVP, how many student passes, how many are returning SC/PR etc. From these stats, what is the percentage testing positive for Covid?

The reason for asking is because the explanation given by MMTF for not closing borders earlier was due to the business needs in the construction and maritime roles, but there's a gap because there are other classes of arrivals which are not accounted for, and this seems to be leading to a fair bit of angst. I think the people can accept if the arrivals are necessary…

[3:14 pm, 15/05/2021] +SL: You means B.1.1618?

[3:14 pm, 15/05/2021] +SL: B.1.618

[3:21 pm, 15/05/2021] +Joseph Ong: Whatever the case, the sentiment on the ground is that the Govt messed up (again?) this time by allowing entry of friends/relatives from high risk countries.

The longer the Govt keeps silent on this issue without addressing it, the more likely the groundswell of opinion against the Govt will rise.

The last thing we need is “vigilantes” targeting people of certain ethnicity out of fear, anger, distrust, ignorance etc, like what is happening in some other countries.

Already there are reports of such incidents lately. Hope the Govt will act swiftly.

[3:23 pm, 15/05/2021] +Alvin Lim: Yes that variant is the triple mutant from India right?

[3:28 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. The fact is community cases are now too high.

We need to keep it in control.

Hence I support this 1 month lockdown - to ensure it go back to 1 or 0.

(Except got to scramble to get all our necessities in short notice with the sudden announcement. Now everything settle, can post).

2. Meanwhile ramp up our vaccination rate to provide better protection.

3. Agree to designate airport into high risk zones and low risk zones:-

a. high risk zones must adopt:-

- PPE for staff,

- packet food for staff (no dine in),

- segregate staff from public,

- disallow public from visiting the same food court as staff (no mixing),

- more frequent test on staff,

- highest safety accorded to high risk zones (similar to staff safety in NCID).

- ensure all staff vaccinated with 2 jabs.

b. Low risk zones

- Mask, face shield, and appropriate Safe distancing measure must be in place

- staff should also dine in food court away from public as precaution.

- periodic test conducted on staff

- ensure all staff are vaccinated with 2 jabs.

I'm disappointed that this wasn't already the SOP.... shouldn't it be an ah-duh thing that if you have flights coming in from high risk countries, you HAVE to take necessary precautions??

[3:30 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: I see folks lugging their desktops home from the office. It's going to be a permanent feature

[3:30 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: this is like saying "wear a condom" after the gf falls pregnant!!

[3:32 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Maybe they did but cordoned don't work

[3:37 pm, 15/05/2021] +CQ: "Flights arriving from high-risk regions will be assigned different piers. Passengers on these flights will use different arrival immigration halls, baggage belts and toilets from those arriving on flights from low-risk countries or regions."

From this part, it doesn't seem like arrivals from high risk countries were previously segregated/cordoned off. What is said is future tense, but the underlying nuance reads like all arrivals are treated the same. granted, it could be an issue with the reporting though. with the current journalism standards, who knows for sure...

[3:38 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: Chill forgot to show 🤣

[3:38 pm, 15/05/2021] +jimmy chew: I agree with you

[3:40 pm, 15/05/2021] +Eric Lau: With current 2 pax gathering rule, can anyone tell me biz mtg for 2pax  incl hosting people?

[3:41 pm, 15/05/2021] +SL: B.1.617 named VOC only on May 10 by WHO, sgp govt imediate response with appropriate action after the announcement.

[3:44 pm, 15/05/2021] +SL: It first discovered @ west bengal

[3:47 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. After we curb all community cases, we must ensure imported cases from now on - must be water tight.

2. Ensure only travellers with low risk can enter into Singapore.

3. This is a good lesson learned.

4. And I think if we can manage and control this wave - we will be in a good stead - as our vaccination rate ramp up.

[3:51 pm, 15/05/2021] +REACH: COVID-19: Changi Airport to segregate flight arrivals from high-risk countries, regions

[3:58 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

5. Fighting virus pandemic is a "spike-cool", "spike-cool" cycle - as virus adapt and evolve (as they mutate to survive).

6. Just like fighting a guerilla warfare - virus will smartly and stealthily adapt and adopt to outsmart its enemy battle strategy to emerge stronger - as human use vaccines to combat it.

7. This cycle of spike-cool, spike-cool will  keep spiralling up to a point - that the virus run out its course.

8. Many historical virus pandemic - from Spanish flu, influenza, common cold, bird flu, SARS etc all behave the same way.

9. Now is an inflexion point - where vaccines is covid greatest nemesis.

10. Humanity shall see how the final assault defeat the covid.

11. Now we have to held steady - as we curb this wave of India double mutants.

12. I think this lockdown will stop it from host jumping - and once our vaccination rate go up - should be able to defeat it couple with mask and social distancing measures.

13. Then we can adjust our strategy for the next step.

[4:02 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

14. Read some where that the original covid virus from Wuhan - has already run its full course and can't be found anywhere - according to what I read.

15. If this is true, all these current mutants will also run its full course and die out - especially if world vaccination rate go up.

[4:09 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

16. Now we can make TTSH cluster from 44 to 0.

17. Similarly, we can also make Changi airport cluster from so many to 0.

18. To give credit to our tracetogether and safeentry contact tracing, PCR and now couple with fast antigen test - we can do a quick ring-fencing.

19. With the current 1 month lockdown - this covid variants will have little chance to jump hosts - and I believe by then the community cases will be brought down.

20. If TTSH cluster can, Changi airport cluster - should also be possible.

[4:12 pm, 15/05/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

[5:43 pm, 15/05/2021] +Joseph Ong: That’s my point.

The Govt needs to be more effective with Media usage to control the narrative better, instead of allowing misinformation on social media to (mis)lead the masses.

It’s no longer good enough to just get the job done. The Govt must be “seen” and “heard” doing a great job as well. The people must have confidence in what the Govt is doing.

At the moment, I feel confidence and trust in the Govt is sorely lacking.

That has clearly failed.

Thus we need to come up a matrix to qualify and quantify a foreseeable or unforeseeable scenario.

To match the covid challenges, we need range. Range of procedures, perimeters and positionings. Gathering of resources is an advantage to an extend of using what one's have in hand to the FULLEST use.

[6:57 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon: Calls for transparency should also include how did SG prepared for visitors from high-risks countries; was the 21 day SHN and now, the segregation of flights from these high-risk countries - timely or a tad too late? Accountability about how SG had prepared to balance our "open" border policies, with risks of imported contagion, and the safety for the community should also be highlighted to the public.

[7:00 pm, 15/05/2021] +Boon: The notion of "trade off" has openly creeped into SG policies. Is the trade off here between SG' open border till today from these high-risk countries versus the costs that the society and country is asked to bear? It is natural that visitors would want to seek a relative Covid-safe haven like SG. How have we prepared to address this risks? It seems like our measures only started with our own spikes... ?
