📢 TOPIC 📢

Some activities and classes at seven community clubs and eight residents' committees were suspended over links to SAFRA Jurong COVID-19 cluster.
🤔 Megan hopes you know not to attend gatherings when you are unwell. Are you and your family members still taking part in organised activities and events? If yes, what precautions are you taking? If no, what activities are you doing in its place?

-------
[6:01 PM, 3/8/2020] : No gatherings at the moment.  Watching how the situation changes meanwhile.

[6:11 PM, 3/8/2020] : We can take all the precautions we want. But, it just takes one inconsiderate, socially irresponsible person to throw all these out of the window. Can there be stronger deterrents so that people with flu-like symptoms won't attend work or gatherings? For a start, the woman from Wizlearn who had symptoms and still attended business meetings should be charged with endangering the lives of others under the Infectious Diseases Act. Think about the cluster she created and how it may have potentially taxed or broken down the healthcare system if more are infected and taken ill. If we can't trust people to be considerate and be socially responsible, then punitive measures need to be imposed.

[6:13 PM, 3/8/2020] : 👍.
It only take 1 inconsiderate ppl even to create a cluster.

[6:15 PM, 3/8/2020] : "if u see a person clearly having symptoms .ask the person to work from home/leave office or leave the gathering
if you allow the person to work or to stay and you keep quiet, then some of the responsibilities also lie with us?

[6:17 PM, 3/8/2020] : The problem is, they will argue and say it's just a cold. What do we say to that? With a law, they will toe the line and be more wary of being charged.

[6:19 PM, 3/8/2020] : Speaking from personal experience, I had a friend who teaches at a tuition centre. A student kept blowing her nose and after a while, the teacher called the student's mother to say if she's sick then she shouldn't be here. The mother replied that it's just a cold. She's not sick. What do we say to that?

[6:21 PM, 3/8/2020] : The ones who started the clusters should answer for their irresponsible behaviours, especially if they had displayed symptoms and yet still blatantly gone out and infected others.

[6:22 PM, 3/8/2020] : Imagine if our healthcare system is taxed to the brim? This is no laughing matter.

[6:23 PM, 3/8/2020] : Get her to wear a mask at the very least
[6:26 PM, 3/8/2020] : Agree
[6:27 PM, 3/8/2020] : Arrogance with attitude!
[6:27 PM, 3/8/2020] : As lky style,  hit the wallet so it hurts.

[6:36 PM, 3/8/2020] Ricky Lim:
(1) If a person is unwell, whether suspected Covid-19 or flu or cold or other sickness - at this epidemic period --- it is better to see a doctor and get MC to stay at home.
(2) Learn lesson or do work at home remotely --- than force a person to go to school, attend organised events or work --- when a person is unwell.
(3) This is social responsibility not only to oneself - but also to others.
(4) Event organisers, schools or companies should enforce such social responsible behavior at this heightened period of epidemic.
(5) Notice that China is experiencing a sustained fall in infection.
It shows that as long as we adopt and adhere to health safety measure, it is possible to curb the spread of this Covid-19 epidemic --- and eventually lead to the end of this epidemic.
(6) At this point in time, when the epidemic is reaching its pinnacle worldwide, we can see a sustain drop in infection in China --- and all the more Singapore should not be complacent and more vigilant to prevent large spread of infection.
---

[6:48 PM, 3/8/2020] Ricky Lim: (1) During this period, it is advisable to temporarily suspend large scale mass gatherings.
(2) More events should be done at home remotely as far as possible.
(3) Those who are unwell must be force to see doctor and stay at home until recover.
(4) Until worldwide infection is experiencing fall in infection rate like in China --- only then can consider resuming events and activities.
(5) Otherwise very difficult to prevent large scale infections.

[7:11 PM, 3/8/2020]: CC still organised  events and I expect they take full precautionary measures since I support to normalise life ASAP .
Of course I will not attend when i am sick .
When I organise I will handshake and direct contact whenever possible

[7:24 PM, 3/8/2020] : You mean avoid hand shake?
[7:28 PM, 3/8/2020] : Sorry.
[7:29 PM, 3/8/2020] : https://mothership.sg/2020/03/covid-19-continue-global-spread/
[7:33 PM, 3/8/2020] : Sorry I will not
[7:34 PM, 3/8/2020] : Missed the dont or avoid .. thanks for the clarification
[7:37 PM, 3/8/2020] : 🤣🤣🤣
[7:37 PM, 3/8/2020] : My suggestion would condemn me to Hell.  Lol

[7:39 PM, 3/8/2020] Ricky Lim:
(1) I support normalise lives.
(2) But I got reservations about mass gatherings for eg. SAFRA events - precaution have been taken, but still outbreak has occur.
Because a mass event has too many people in one gathering - and all it take is one infected - and many people will get infected to form a large cluster.
Eg. SKorea one big gathering in a religious event --- and now few thousands get infected.
---

[7:59 PM, 3/8/2020] : I suggest all churches, Temples and Mosques do webinar. That means praying thru video .
[8:00 PM, 3/8/2020] : PA and CC should do the same. The ISCA is doing Budget 2020 thru webinar. I

[8:10 PM, 3/8/2020] Ricky Lim:

[12:05 PM, 2/22/2020] :
Scenarios in which this virus epidemic may stop:-
1. virus die by itself - due to change in weather.
2. Human develop stronger immunity with more mild infection and anti-body.
3. Standard treatment is established that can cure the virus. People has less fear and resume normal lives despite virus still spreading.
4. Vaccine found and effective in curbing virus.
---
Look like scenario 1 - is no longer possible to stop the virus epidemic.
We can only hope for scenario 2, 3 and 4 ---- to see us through this covid-19.
Until Humans are confident to defeat this covid-19 spread and see a worldwide drop in infection - I feel that we may need to alter some parts of our lives and activities.
--

[9:11 PM, 3/8/2020] Ricky Lim:
(1) Channel 5 news say SKorea announce drop in infection for the 1st time.
(2) So it is possible to defeat this covid-19. China has show it is possible.
SKorea the 2nd most infected country also show it is possible.
(3) Impt to do the right thing.
