If China is serious about reunification with Taiwan, China must not "use force or coercion" as the 1st option.

Peaceful reunification is the best way.

Else everyone will only see "Chinese kill Chinese".

The best way to win is "Win by Heart and Mind, not by force".

China must not jump on nerve, everytime other try to provoke China on Taiwan.
Else China will be seen as "extreme paranoid" or "extreme insecurity".

Quiet diplomacy and open heart talk - will be the best way forward.

Coercion or force ---- will elicit "push back" --- and the goal of unification will become far, far away.

Only by "Winning through Heart and Mind" ---- will be lasting and enduring ---- dispensing not even a single bullet, nor committing a single soldier, nor shedding a drop of blood.

  Communism political structure is a form of Governance - where Government is endowed and not elected.
  Communism adopted Planned Economy rather than Capitalism or Market Economy as their Economic System. State Enterprises is a mean to produce goods and services - and a mean to provide "cradle to grave" jobs.
  China political structure is still adopting Communism whereby the Government is endowed and not elected by the people. China see this political system as viable system for China and China people did not object.
  So at this point in time, it will not pose upheaval or unrest in China - and hence cause instability in China.
  China has long junked Planned Economy and has adopted Capitalism or Market Economy as their Economic System and has done well integrating with the World Economic System as well as Financial System. China as a result has become the 2nd largest Economy in the World. I think China will remember how Singapore has advised and helped China to attain this - by our past Mr LKY and our past Dr Goh Keng Swee who is the economic adviser to China.
  Though SOE (State Enterprises) are still prominent in China Economy, the recent instructions is to make SOEs adopt market economy and allowing SOEs to fail if they are inefficient or ineffective.
  So Economy wise, China should not have any economic problem.
  China only inherent worry is their "extreme paranoid" and "extreme insecruity" on their "core interest" - that cause them to over-react, sometimes unnecessarily - that in long term will work against them.
  It will take awhile for China to relax, to be graceful and be able to handle difficult issues with poise, with grace - without jumping on every nerve, on every slight or on every issue that seems innocent.

    Honestly, can see that China Chinese are eager to learn, and looking at the progress China has make, China has changed phenomenally.
    
    The only thing that China need to perfect is :-

      I think China will still remember how Singapore has helped China to build industrial park, eco-city and many public housing are like Singapore HDB flats.
      
      Industrial park and eco-cities that Singapore have helped to attract foreign investors into China mainland beginning from Suzhou, Tianjin and now ChongQing.
      
      I hope China can still remember - before China take it out on Singapore.

      Now why China is "extremely paranoid" and "extreme insecurity" ---- on their "core interest"?
      
      To understand China extreme paranoid --- one have to look at China history - as far back as the Qing Dynasty.
      
      China is split by foreign forces into 8 parts - where some have become "rental state".
      So we can see HongKong as one "rental state", Macau "another rental state".
      
      And in latest history, Taiwan forces has taken Taiwan from mainland China - and Taiwan is considered a "renegade state".
      
      Even with such "painful history", China must know that many Countries also have their "fair share of painful history".
      
      Which Countries on Earth - has not encounter "painful history" in their formation of State?
      
      If everyone adopt "Extreme paranoid" in their foreign policies ---- then the World will have many big fight and many human will have perished.
      
      Thus State must have poised, patience, grace - to resolve difficult territorial issues peacefully and with observation of international law as guidance for consultation, negotiation and resolution.
      
      Then the World will be a more peaceful World.
      
      Else when one big Country use force on a smaller Country, then another bigger Country will also use force on that big Country. And then other bigger or coalition Countries will join in the fight to use force ----- and all Hell will break lose --- leading to a Big World War ---- and human mankind will perish.
      
      This is 下下策。

        Finally, i believe No Chinese on Earth will want to see "Chinese kill Chinese" --- whereby China retake Taiwan by force.
