Before letting emotion run, let us analyse the situation and put things in a more a rational perspective.
(1) The objective of the Freshman Orientation is to help the freshmen to get themselves oriented with the Uni life, familiar themselves with the Uni facilities and get to know friends in Uni.
(2) The covert objective of fostering romance sanction by SDU to help Uni students to pair up early so that hopefully they will get hitched and when they left Uni life after graduation to raise a family and boost the birth rate. (I will prefer my kid and my nephew and niece to start romance after their graduation so that they will not be distracted and concentrate on their study first).
Having understand the objectives based on the above context, those seniors who organise the freshmen orientation will organise activities to promote and achieve the above objectives.
Being young, playful, energetic and reaching puberty, without proper guidance, they may go overboard and instead of promoting romance, fringe on sadism and sexual pervertism.
With year after year of feedback but no authorities to tell them it is wrong, they will continue to test the boundary year after year - where until now as social pressure builf up, these seniors may be haul up for very severe punishment that may even result in suspension or dismissal --- and their young lives will be ruined, and all their years of hard work all the way to JCs, plus their parents aspirations on them will go down the drain.
Taking this into context, i felt that we should be more measure and more rational in dealing with the situation and punishment to be meted out must be one that make the seniors realised their mistake, repent and refrain from making such mistake in future - without ruining their study, their future and their career - not to mention their parents who have bring them up with blood and sweat.
Punishment such as stern warning, counselling, community works or dismiss them from student union management or committee for severe case will suffice. Suspension or dismissal from the Uni course - will be too severe --- because the purpose of education is to nurture the students to contribute to the Nation - not to ruin their future and their career.
Remember these seniors for guys have serve National Service and sacrificed themselves for the Nation, they have err in moment of folly - but they did not commit crime. They can be rehabilitated to become a better person.
Even criminals have "yellow ribbon" to help ex-convicts to reinfuse into the society.
What more are these young, playful but a moment of fool who err in the moment of folly?
I felt they should be given a chance.
Otherwise how to be an Inclusive Society with Compassion?

Those seniors who conducted the freshman orientation have to bear in mind that :-
(1) By doing dunking on a female freshmen into an algae pond - will carry some risk - the risk of drowning when water go into her windpipe and as her hands and legs are being held by 4 guys, she will be unable to struggle if water go into her nostril. Also by pumping her numerous time on the pond of water, she may hit her head or spine - causing serious injuries. Such games are dangerous when those who conducted the games are unsupervised by someone in authority who should stop it when the game look dangerous.
(2) By inducing and creating social pressure for male or female freshman on explicit sexual games - the seniors are degrading and humiliating the freshmen and degrade themselves morally. If these go on, it unconciously promote promiscuity, sexual activities in the campus, molest or even rape --- instead of fostering healthy relationship between the male and female freshmen. Such sexual explicit games should be stopped because it infringe on wrong moral values instead of healthy relationship.
The above examples indicate that the seniors has started to tread and deviate into the wrong path and should be and can be corrected. Fortunately, nothing serious has happened.
Punishment such as stern warning, counselling, community works or dismiss them from student union management or committee for severe case will be necessary to warn, punish and rehabilitate the wrongdoers.
But understand from the news that the Uni is even contemplating suspension or dismissal from the Uni course for wrongdoers ---- which i felt too severe - because young lives that can be repented, rehabilitated and can be bring back into the right path.
Dismissal or suspension of Uni course ---- will ruin young lives - who err in the moment of folly as they are not committing crimes.

Education is about nurturing the young to be useful, to earn a living for their families and to contribute to the Nation.
And if the youth do in a moment of folly commit some mistakes, they should be allowed to be corrected, to repent, to learn from the mistakes and to correct themselves to be a better person. The Education system and institution should allow this, facilitate this and foster this --- not to punish them unduly, that will have ruined their young lives - when they can become a better person.
This is what Education is all about.

Else how can hell be empty?
Else how to fulfill the Bodhi Vows of :-
地狱不空,誓不成佛。
众生度尽,方证菩提。
If a repented, rehabilitated sentinent being can never escape from hell?
It defy the logic of Universal Law of Karma.

I really think that they should shut up before police reports are filed. In fact i hope parents are already filing.Molesting women is not fun and a woman who speaks up is not uptight. Get this into their thick brains with some jail time.
