This iCloud also look like a VDI - Virtual Desktop Infrastructure.

If iCloud employed VDI technology that uses clone image - than the chances of hackers hacking into the iCloud services will be difficult - as it will have performed BYOD (Bring-Your-Own-Device) security posture assessment and device authentication before accessing into their Server VDI push-down clone image that are dedicated to the user.

In this case, there is no way hacker can access the backend iCloud backup storage system - because only authorised legitimate VDI client image are pushed down by the iCloud VDI.

So look like external hacking via Internet - very remote and quite unlikely.
