[7:00 pm, 19/07/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

Singapore reported 163 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases as of noon on Monday (Jul 19), with 106 infections linked to the Jurong Fishery Port cluster and 19 cases with links to the KTV lounges cluster.

Another 26 infections were not linked to previous cases, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) in its preliminary daily update. Among the new cases, there is one person above the age of 70 who is unvaccinated and at risk of serious illness, MOH said.

📢  How do you feel about current COVID-19 situation in Singapore?  What are your views about the Government’s efforts and current measures to curb the transmission?

In a Facebook post on Monday (Jul 19), Health Minister Ong Ye Kung said that two of Singapore's largest active Covid-19 clusters - at KTVs and the Jurong Fishery Port - are linked, and studies are ongoing to establish their relationship.

Mr Ong added that while the KTV cluster is “settling down”, the one at Jurong Fishery Port is rising worryingly, and urged those unvaccinated, especially the elderly, to stay home as much as possible.

Tighter measures will be implemented to manage access to wet markets where Covid-19 cases were recently detected among stallholders and stall assistants.

From Monday (July 19), interim fencing will be put up at the markets by the National Environment Agency (NEA) and town councils, and mandatory SafeEntry check-in requirements will be enforced, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said on Sunday (Jul 18).

[7:01 pm, 19/07/2021] +Caleb:- Cancel NDP fireworks

[7:01 pm, 19/07/2021] +Caleb:- At floating platform

[7:02 pm, 19/07/2021] +Alvin Lim: Highly Appropriate Heightened Alert

[7:02 pm, 19/07/2021] +Alvin Lim: HAHa

[7:10 pm, 19/07/2021] +Shane: Agree with this . Otherwise what kind of signal are we expressing ?

[7:10 pm, 19/07/2021] +Suma pamu: Better Safe than Sorry..

Go Back to CB before the situation overwhelm Healthcare Workers!

And many Primary schools also affected,

Should act fast Instead of WAIT AND SEE approach.

Virus is Not our friend or family to listen what we say and Act accordingly!!

What we seeing now seems Super fast spreader Variant!

(As imagine It affected these many people just in 2 days!)

Asymptotic or symptomatic Does not matter much now, as Many reports saying long term affects of Covid illness.

The children who got positive, how sure are we that they won't face any more side effects of this in future, even though They are now looking healthy!!

When Comes to health Let us not take Any chance, and Take strick Action.

The Unlinked cases are also on the rise, so must act ASAP.…

[7:15 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: Yes - it's not worth it and shows greater strength than we can take the right decisions.

[7:17 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ken Loh: 🤣

[7:17 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: This shows what a mess we could end up in.

[7:18 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ken Loh: We wanted hope.. but if it gets worst because of NDP 😔

Better to cancel…

[7:18 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: UK has said they are ok with 100,000 cases a day, which I don't think should be OK for the rest of the world. Spreading COVID creates mutations none of us need.

[7:19 pm, 19/07/2021] +Daphne See: Yes cancel

[7:19 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: We have hope already and we gain strength from making good choices. It will be a sign of responsible government to cancel, or significantly alter the plans for NDP.

[7:22 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: Regarding the topic, overall I still strongly support Singapore's approach to the COVID-19 situation. I do still hope that vaccinated Singaporeans who test negative can return to Singapore with the quarantine removed, or reduced to 5 days.

[7:22 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: It's becoming too hard on people that haven't seen overseas families for 18+ months.

[7:23 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: I think the current measures are reasonable because I don't think we need a lock-down. We do need to exercise more personal responsibility (no visiting KTVs etc for intimate pleasure with strangers!)

Primary Schools got infected cases.

Primary schools - 16 years below got no protection from vaccination.

[7:50 pm, 19/07/2021] +Elena Woo: Covid has been ard more than 1 yr. I think those ppl who visited know of the risks coz they are all adults. Gov shd ban short term visitors instead ba...

This is the way to deal with a crisis accountability and a charismatic leader.

We miss you LKY.

[8:01 pm, 19/07/2021] +Laurent: ''Whoever governs Singapore must have that iron in him. Or give it up. This is not a game of cards. This is your life and mine. I spent a whole lifetime building this. And as long as I'm in charge, nobody's going to knock it down."

[8:15 pm, 19/07/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. With so many cases spread around so many parts of Singapore, let us do a reality check :-

a. Are we able to trace to each infected people?

b. Able we able to test all infected person - to ensure that did not miss anyone?

c. Are we able to ring-fence all the clusters - and ensure that no unlink cases leak out of the ring-fence?

2. If the answer to all the a, b and c is positive - --- then it will be like how we control our last Delta variants wave like the TTSH, Changi Airport, Bukit Merah hawker centre, the various HDB blocks ---- and keep the community cases down to single digits and zero.

3. If the answer to all the a, b and c is negative ---- then we are in deep trouble ---- because it means that this KTV cluster has run out of control already - and it is spreading to practically every corner of the community - KTV, schools, hawker centre, food centre, fishery port - and disrupt our food supply chain ---- with the 2nd highest number of infections after domitory.

4. So our response to this KTV wave is very simple.

Are we in 2 or are we in 3?

5. If we are in 2 - we will be in good stead. We can continue with our current measures - and hopefully, this KTV wave can be controlled and the infection number comes down within the next few week.

6. However, if we are in 3 - and the infection number continue to go up or linger around this high infection number - and there are no confident that the virus stop spreading among the community --- then we need to rollback - and further tighten with more heightened measures to arrest the KTV wave.

7. It is a judgement call based on Scenario 2 or Scenario 3.

8. Based on what I read in the news, which say, the KTV cluster is settling down and the yield is trending down.

(Which I mean to interpret - the KTV cluster has been ring-fence).

9. But the Jurong Fishing Port (JFP) is rising worringly - because it is seeding cases in various markets - and communities around them.

(Which I mean to interpret - the JFP cluster has not yet to be able to confidently ring-fence).

This will become a judgement call by the Government --- how confident are we to ring-fence this JFP cluster.

If we are able to ring-fence this JFP cluster ---- and ensure that all the people in this cluster - will not go out to further propagate the virus ---- then our current measures will suffice.

However, if a couple of days more - and we are unable to confidently ring-fence this cluster ---- then the only sensible way to curb this JFP cluster ---- is to tighten the measures to prevent it from spreading ----- and let it run its own course - with at least 14 days to 21 days.

[8:17 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: All short term visitors? Even those who are vaccinated and test negative?

[8:21 pm, 19/07/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

My close friend comments:-

This is a serious message from Virus Delta.

"You need relentless testing and contact tracing to find me!"

- Consider giving everyone a trace together token instead of allowing TT app which can be switched off.

- Consider giving safe distancing ambassador the power to random check persons if they carry their tokens.

- Consider issuing vaccinated persons with a card size vaccination cert for ease of validation. Moving forward, measures may  have to discern vaccinated and unvaccinated.

Currently, people can pass off with a fake screen shot.

F&B businesses have suffered enough and they need fully vaccinated persons to keep them going. There has to be a simple and fail-safe way of validating.

So f&b can operate at full capacity for vax-only persons other than those below 12.

This can also push those who are vaccine hesitant to seriously convert.

[8:21 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: An incredible person who achieved what few could even imagine. His spirit Iives on in Singapore, and he chose his battles carefully. Emulating him doesn't mean being iron fisted on everything though. He did what was needed at the time. We are fortunate to live in an era of relative prosperity. Let it not make us lazy, nor greedy, but let is also not make us mean.

[8:30 pm, 19/07/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Another issue, elderly are the most vulnerable.

Government are taking a soft approach and persuasive tactics to persuade the elderly to vaccinate.

140,000 elderly have yet to be vaccinated that will give alot of pressure on the hospital resources.

If coming to the crunch, government may have to harden its soft stance to a hard one.

Mandatory vaccination for elderly to protect themselves and the community.

[8:47 pm, 19/07/2021] +Smiley face: Urgent Request: MOE

Reconsider HBL for ALL non essential levels till 30 July subject to shorten if needed.

Reason:

To minimise the spread of the Delta variant, vulnerable age of 7yrs to 18yrs. Secondly, completion of 1st jap for this age group.

Unchanged:

Physical Schooling for graduating class of P6, O, N, A levels, ITE and final year Polytechnics.

[8:48 pm, 19/07/2021] +Caleb: The KTV and fishing port is not Delta variant right?

[8:48 pm, 19/07/2021] +Caleb: Is a variant from Indonesia

[8:49 pm, 19/07/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Delta variants from Indonesia not the India strain.

1 million people in UK suffer from long covid - the long term effects of covid for those infected.

It is not normal endemic flu.

Covid is a severe effect virus.

Doctors and nurses continue to die despite being vaccinated

[9:01 pm, 19/07/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

To ring-fence the JFP - sewage system and test - is relatively effective in testing and tracing the infected within the community - eg. Like the previous HDB blocks.

Once the sewage system detected got virus fragment, the whole block can be ring-fence and tested.

By using this method, I am quietly confident that JFP cluster - around the market and hawker centre, the HDB blocks around it can be ring-fence and contain like the previous round.

But it will need a few weeks to see the results.

By a few weeks time, the infection number cannot be contained - then a snap lockdown for 14 - 21 days may be essential.

[9:12 pm, 19/07/2021] +Ben: Consider Unvaccinated ineligible for medical subsidy?

[9:24 pm, 19/07/2021] +Suma pamu: My girl in P6

I prefer HBl

I wanted this thing will be over by exams.

Just having Few students few schools HBL for these levels

will be Very unfair

What ever it is as long as All students go through samething

Its fine

Only affected schools/secitions closing

Some are at very disadvantage some are at Advantge

Why can not every one Have HBL (except For parents who Are unable to take care of children at home due to work commitments)

[9:27 pm, 19/07/2021] +Suma pamu: How sad!!

And here we are so confident that Children Won't get sick

The new and new variants How they act and how Much illness these variants cause

For children and others

No one knows

!

[9:40 pm, 19/07/2021] +Elena Woo: Agree... schools are alr infected this will reduce spread within schools

[9:46 pm, 19/07/2021] +Peter T Ng: Unfortunately, this looks like perfect storm of KTV and market, hitting us at our vulnerabilities.

As we cannot police ourselves well, then I guess some 'disincentives' will help

Can we seriously enforce the law?
