It is more like a "national distraction" not "national crisis".
If it is a "national crisis" - there will be riot, turmoil, share fall, and other crisis.

Singaporeans has no doubt that it is just a "storm in a teacup" - and never doubted the integrity and credibility of the Government and its systems.

Gladfully, the "family saga" has faded into the background.

Eventually law will prevail as the private unhappiness will have been worked out.

Preserving the Oxley House is the prerogative of the Government and private will is a private affair to be sort out privately.

People are watching us.
Ricky Lim ·

You are right.
People are always watching us - because we are a hub to many industrial sectors.

Anything happen to our Government, our systems and our people - will have impact those people who put their business, investment, money and people here.

Thus Singaporeans who assist in attacking our Government, our systems - are in fact attacking themselves and fellow Singaporeans - which will in turn affect everyone, their families, their own assets and wealth.

If is akin to being slap on the right face and we turn our left cheek to get slap - and then applaud and support the people who attack us.

Thus sometimes cannot understand why some Singaporeans are so eager to attack our own Govt, our own systems ---- because many fail to understand they are attacking themselves if the whole system fall apart.

This is the Wisdom that we need to know and ought to have.

If the systems is lacking and need improvement - suggest constructive improvement - and not attacking it and cause it to fall.

Heritage with artifacts provide us a sense of history, defined who we are, where we come from, how we exist, what historical lessons we learned, how we overcome our crisis, how we can learn not to repeat the mistake we make or learn from the Wisdom how we overcome them.

Destroy our heritages, we and our future descendants will lose the most.

Thus preserving our heritage is paramount and will grossly benefit Singaporeans and our future descendants.

That is why Countries all over the World build monuments, preserve their heritage.
Eg.
(1) US build monument and statute for President Lincoln
(2) Europe build many monument and statutes of their past heroes like Paris, UK, etc.
(3) China build monument for their ex-Leader founding father
(4) Taiwan build monument for their founding father
(5) Russia also build monument for their founding father

-- so many examples whether Capitalist or Communist.

Why - to preserve their Heritage - to define how they exist and where they come from.

And demolishing Oxley House --- go directly to the "Core of our Heritage" - that define our very existence of Modern Singapore.

Some people may not like to hear this -- but it is a "Wisdomic Truth".

(1) If no Buddha image - will people able to "visualise and associate with" Buddhism ?
(2) If no Jesus and the cross or Mary image - will people able to "visualise and associate with" Christianity and Catholism ?
(3) If no Taoism deities image - will people able to "visualise and associate with" Taosm ?
(4) If no Hinduism deities image - will people able to "visualise and associate with" Hinduism ?

Oxley House is a similar vein.

Religions with "image" - their disciples can grasp and associate with - and is a unifying force.

For religion without "image" - disciples unable to grasp and associate with - and sects will arise and different sects will have their own interpretation - and can lead to holy chaos and holy war - because it cannot grasp the divine image - which is a unifying force.

Then some sect - worship flag.
Some sect - worship thin air.
Some sect - worship certain direction.

In the end - all fight.

This is a "Wisdomic Truth".

So is Buddha wrong when He told His disciples to use "Dharma Wheel" and not His image for reverence?
Acutally the Buddha is not wrong.

Buddha being an Enlightened Being has attained "No Self" 无我 - and naturally will be very aversive to disciples building monument of his image for reverence - to be worship as "god".

Buddha thus say, pay reverence to Triple Gems - Buddha, Dharma, Sangha - but using "Dharma Wheel" for Buddha.

But Arahats and Bodhisattvas who attained Nirvana know that many future disciples will not be able to associate "Dharma Wheel" as Buddha - and most will associate Dharma Wheel as 8 NoblePath - which in effect if practice correctly will lead to Nirvana which is the Dharma Wheel - and which in effect the "Buddha".

Thus to unified Buddhists of many sects, Theravada Elder of Small Vehicle of Self-Salvation, Mahayana and Varijiana of Great Vehicle of Great Salvation - building Buddhia image as monument for Reverence and Prayers -- will be the Unifying Force to unite Buddhism --- and will not lead to different sects have different interpretation and denegenrate into a big fight over who is more right than another - because all Buddhism Dharma Teachings come from the Buddha.

Hence, Arahats and Bodhisattvas decided that for the greate good of future disciples, they must defy Buddha's wish not to use His image as monument for reverence - and come out with the following solutions :-
(1)盛法 - 用法轮 (Dharma rich-age - use Dharma Wheel)
(2)相法 - 用经书 (Dharma mid-age - use Sutra, holy books)
(3)末法 - 用佛相 (Dharma ending-age - use Buddha image or monument)

Buddhism until now have benefitted many Buddhists.

This will be of the same vein that we need to defy Mr Lee KY's will for the sake of future Singapore, Singaporeans and future descendants by exercising the Preservation Law to override his private will.

For example, it is natural for future disciples to ask how does a Buddha look like when they practice His Dharma, reading His sutra, doing meditation.

Some people tend to worship Buddha like "god" and follow "word by word" without using their own Wisdom to enquire, challenge and make the correct decision - and worship it like "god or imperial decree" and cannot deviate.

So if Buddha told His disciples to pay reverence to "Dharma Wheel" - there is a possibliity that some disciples may argue that Buddha is not a human who attained Enlightenment and become Buddha.
Buddha to them is a "Dharma Wh
eel" because Buddha say so - and thus Buddha must be a "Dharma Wheel".
So by "leaving something behind and not leaving other bits behind" is like "not 3, not 4".

In similar vein of Oxley House, since Mr Lee KY already leave many books, memoirs, videos, speeches etc behind - why not leave the actual Oxley House and his personal artifacts, effects and items behind --- that will benefit of future Singapore, Singaporeans and future descendants - so that everyone can see the complete picture and not half picture, and the rest leave it to guessing.
