PM Lee's siblings need to show more proof of allegations, say 4 in 10 Singaporeans: survey

Ricky Lim ·

Look like got to repeat this story to Mr Lee HY - before Mr Lee HY can see the bigger picture - and hopefully understand and gain insight :-

Ricky Lim ·
Singapore

Buddha 2500 to 3000 years ago - before he passed into PariNirvana (passed away) - told his disciples not to use his image to build monument.

His disciples asked, if without your image as monument as Heritage, how do future Buddhists disciples remember your Teachings and learn from your discourse and respect the Buddha?

Buddha say "use Dharma Wheel" (法轮)for reverence.

Now only a handful of Arahats (罗汉)and Bodhisattvas (菩萨)who have attained Nirvana (涅槃)understand what Buddha means. Because "Dharma Wheel" (法轮) is Nirvana (涅槃). Only those who have attained Nirvana (涅槃)know it.

The rest of His disciples unable to understand - and thus will be unable to learn the True Teachings of Buddha.

When Buddha finally passed away and enter into PariNirvana ---- Arahats (罗汉)and Bodhisattvas (菩萨)decided that Buddha's Teachings will be lost if only "use Dharma Wheel" (法轮)for reverence - because many future Buddhists disciples will not be able to understand.

Thus they decided on the below (by defying Buddha's wish not to use his image as monument or for praying):-
(1)盛法 - 用法轮 (Dharma rich-age - use Dharma Wheel)
(2)相法 - 用经书 (Dharma mid-age - use Sutra, holy books)
(3)末法 - 用佛相 (Dharma ending-age - use Buddha image or monument)

Now we are at the Dharma ending-age - where many people cannot gain Enlightenment through their own efforts - and thus requre Buddha image for reverence - in order to be inspired to learn and practise Buddhism.

In the same vein, for Mr Lee Kuan Yew - shouldn't we keep Oxley House with the same justification as Buddha's experience - by defying Buddha's wish - so that many future descendants Buddhists disciples can benefit from Buddhism Teachings --- by defying Mr Lee Kuan Yew's wish to demolish Oxley House - but to preserve Oxley House - so that future Singaporeans descendants can be inspired and gain insights from Mr Lee Kuan Yew's heritage, relics, personal effects from the Oxley House?

  • Mr Lee Kuan Yew initially is unwavering in wanting to demolish Oxley House - because he is afraid that Singaporeans may confuse :-
    "Heritage" with "Legacy".
This is supported by the siblings' statement:-
They outlined their father’s wish for the house to be demolished immediately after his death, and alleged that PM Lee wanted to preserve the house “to inherit (Lee Kuan Yew’s) credibility”

But look at it this way :-
By separating the entity of "Heritage as legacy" ---- but construe it as :-
"Heritage" to reinforce Mr Lee Kuan Yew's "Ideals - ideals of Meritocracy" - which is the essential for Singapore's birth, survival and continuing prosperity ---- will have break Mr Lee Kuan Yew's fear of "Heritage" as "Legacy".

When this is done - there is no more justification and basis to demolish Oxley House - for fear of "Heritage" as "Legacy" that benefit self --- but as "Heritage" as foundation to reinforce "Ideals - ideals of Meritocracy" that will ensure Singapore's birth, survival and continuing prosperity - for the sake of Modern Singapore, all Singaporeans and future descendants.

Now from "fearful of attachment to self" --- to a wholesome, holistic ideal - for the future of "Singapore".
Will this be a good enough reasoning and justification to preserve Oxley House as oppose to demolish it?

Buddha say "Don't just listen to every words I say as gospel truth. Examine what I say, what I do critically and use your judgement to decide whether it is worth your while to follow my discourse.
Don't follow in blind faith simply because I say so."

Now the same statement should apply to both Mr LHY and Ms LWL :-
"Don't just worship your Father's wish as "Gospel Truth" and worship it like God or Imperial Decreee in blind faith".

"Listen to Sound Reasonings and Worship Sound Judgement that benefit the larger good of Singapore, all Singaporeans and future descendants".

So will Mr Lee HY and Ms LWL - for the sake of Singapore, all Singaporeans and Future Descendants - consider not to demolish Oxley House --- where the pretext is "Heritage" as foundation to reinforce "Ideals of Meritocracy"?
  • Mr Lee HY and Ms LWL :-
    Can human destroy :-
    (1) Buddha's birth place, Enlightenment, PariNirvana Heritage
    (2) Jesus birth, burial Heritage
    (3) Prophet Muhammed Mecca Heritage
    etc?
Cannot - because their disciples have no Heritage to follow and Religions demise.

    法灭 - 缘灭
    - 大三灾 - 法灭,宇宙灭,六道灭
If Universal Dharma Teachings Heritage demolish - all conditions attached to it demise.
    - Lead to 3 Major Catastrophe - All Universal Dharma Teachings demise, Universe demise, 6 realms sentinent beings demise.

ISIS attempt to 灭法 (demolish all Universal Dharma Teachings) - that is why catastrophe arise - and the whole World want to eradicate ISIS.

Oxley House is the "Heart" (心) "Core" of Modern Singapore Heritage - that give birth, survival and continuing of Singapore prosperity.
Mr Lee HY and Ms LWL - you want to demolish Oxley House the the "Heart" (心) "Core" of Modern Singapore Heritage?
    法灭 - 缘灭
harming Singapore Heritage - harm Singapore.

Both can see now - shaking Oxley House - shake the whole Government - and is shaking the whole Nation.

Are you both sure - you want to demolish Oxley House?
  • Why demolishing Religions (Universal Dharma, Universal Law) - will cause demise of Humans?

Because all humans require Spiritual Needs :-
    (1) Every humans follow the respective Religions that best appeal to their Spiritual Needs.
    (2) Even for some humans who don't believe in Religions - will follow moral principles and law - eg. not to steal, not to commit murder, be kind to others etc.

    Thus :-
    法灭 - 缘灭
    - 大三灾 - 法灭,宇宙灭,六道灭

Imagine if Humans don't have Religions, Humans who don't follow moral principles, don't follow even human laws --- i kill you, you kill me. i am cruel to you, you cruel to me etc etc..... ----- soon all human beings on Earth will demise

------ all sentinent beings eg. animals - i kill you, you kill me, eg.
hungry ghosts - i kill you, you kill me etc etc
All 6 realms sentinent beings will demise.

And the environment that support 6 realms sentinent beings ---- demise.

    - 大三灾
    - 法灭 (Dharma Teachings demise)
    - 六道灭 (6 realms sentinent beings ---- demise)
    - 宇宙灭 (Universe that support 6 realms sentinent beings ---- demise)

  • But the elder Lee, who is credited with transforming Singapore from a backwater entrepot into one of Asia's richest countries, feared the house could turn into a monument.
He is said to have wanted to avoid the kind of personality cult that can develop around strongman leaders.
    --
I think Singaporeans fully understood Mr Lee Kuan Yew's 苦心 - his concern, his worries - that Meritocracy should be the values and principles in grooming Leadership and not through personality cult or dynasty.
Or let everyone see it from a different perspective :-
    (1) If we do not build monument, should we knock down Sir Stamford Raffles statue? (and forget about our history as British colony and bustling port)
    (2) If we do not build monument, should we knock down the Merlion statute - and forget about our history of Lion City, the Sang Nila Utama, the name called Temasek.
    (3) If we do not build monument, should we knock down the World War 2 Peace monument at City Hall?
    (4) If we do not build monument, should we knock down the old Supreme Court that feature the Colonial style building architecture?
    (5) In the same vein, should we knock down the Sun Zhong Sun villa, the Alkaff mansion, the Peranakan Museum?
Then Singapore will has no more heritage - only HDB flats, MRT and tall commercial buildings.
Then what is Singapore's identity? What is Singapore Heritage?
    HDB flats?
    MRT?
I think many Singaporeans are supportive of demolishing the House for the following reasons :-
    (1) Oxley House is a private property. The owner will have the right how should this property be handled and Govt should not step in.
    (2) It is found in Mr Lee's will and has legal power to execute the Will.
    (3) Many Singaporeans are fearful that even if Mr LKY's will can be overriden by Govt, then how about private citizens' house and property?
I think the above reasons are valid.
However, let us view it in another perspective :-
    (1) Is Oxley House worth preserving?
Is it a historical significance - where many crucial historical events have taken place in the Oxley House worth preserving through Conservation as Heritage?
Singapore during the 1960's have witnessed life threatening situation, the fate of Singapore hangs in the balance, people are despair and fear for their future.
    (a) British pullout - Singapore has no future which are so dependant on British's jobs.
    (b) Singapore breakaway from Peninsula - Singapore has no more hinterland, even water supply is a big issue - and Singaporeans may die from thirst if not properly handled and trade is cut off.
    (c) Racial riot
    (d) Blood revolution to achieve a non-capitalist economy and political system
    (e) No armed forces to protect Singapore
    etc etc etc
---- all the above crisis over crisis - are resolve and overcome in the Oxley House.
So should Oxley House be conserved as a Heritage - to inspire future Singapore Leaders, Singaporeans - when we encounter future insurmountable crisis - that nothing is impossible to achieve.
The following declaration resonate in the Oxley House :-
"Today Singapore is a marsh land, a swamp. 10 years down the road - we will build Singapore to be a cosmopolitan city. A 1st class developed nation !"
Future Singapore Leaders can set foot in the Oxley House when encounter insurmounable crisis and make this statement :-
"Our Pioneer Leader has build Singapore to become a 1st class nation from nothing.
Today we face an unsurmountable crisis. We are at a better stake than when we are in 1960s where we have nothing.
With grace from Oxley House, we can overcome this crisis and make our Nation better !"
This is the real reason - why we should keep Oxley House - as our Heritage (not personality cult, not dynasty).
    (2) To allay the fear of Government taking over private property for Conservation, I believe Government will be willing to pay market values as compensation to property owner and ensure that property owner will be no loss.
    (3) A private will - has legal power if properly written. Now it is whether beneficiaries that benefit from the Will are willing to negotiate, understand the significance of the House and compromise with Deep Wisdom and Big Heart - to accept Government compensation and offer Oxley House as Heritage as argued in point (1) above.
This is meant to benefit the 6 million Singaporeans and future descendants.

Keeping the House for Heritage for Conservation is not hero-worshipping.
It is a place where many important decisions that help to resolve crisis over crisis - were made during the early days - where Singapore's fate faces insurmountable risks.
If one day, Singapore need reminders, need a rallying point or need inspirational source - visit the Oxley House ----- "where the top pioneer leaders --- meet and make vital decisions -- that transformed Singapore from a marsh swampy land - into a now bustling cosmopolitan 1st class developed Nation".
It will inspire future Singapore leaders and people ---- nothing is "mission impossible" - because our Pioneer Leaders has transformed bleak future - into one solid prosper future for us --- whatever crisis can be overcome and resolve.
This is the significance of the Heritage of Conserving this Oxley House is all about.
    It is not hero-worshipping.
It is not about worrying - critics will bad mouth our Pioneer Leaders. (Who in this world, whichever Politicians are not criticised or bad-mouth? Even Buddha was defamed and bad-mouthed. Even God is bad-mouth.
What is important is in the "Heart".
It is about a Rallying Point.
It is about an Inspirational Source.
It is about a place of Reminder - that we can overcome - whatever the crisis we face.
    Get it?

The impact of visiting a Heritage - where events take place is very powerful --- much more than seeing documentary films.
It can invoke strong sentiment and can draw inspiration.
If the Heritage is demolished - there is nothing left to inspire - except to watch documentary films - that does not stimulate all the 5 senses - except the eyes and ears senses.
If don't believe - visit Pearl Harbour in Hawaii - and feel and watch for yourselves the sunken warship with dead bodies in it - the very Heritage that was preserved - to remind us not to start a World War.
If don't believe - visit the 911 sites of twin tower - where 3,000 over international lives perished --- it can be extremely emotional.
    Never underestimate a Heritage.
I hope the siblings read this and get the message.
