It is good for Philippines to make friend with China - and use dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the maritime dispute while bolstering economic cooperation.
However, it will not be wise for Philippines to dump US - an old friend while doing so.
It is important to make friends but not turn friends into adversary.
Your new friends will be watching how Philippines treat its old friend - and they will be on guard in case Philippines will do the same thing to them when things go sour.
