China and Singapore to resume military exercises, cooperate on military education

Analysts say the developments are a ‘natural progression’ of warming defence ties between China and the city state, which also has strong strategic ties with the US.

A question that will be raised is ‘the level of exposure both sides would have to each other’s doctrine and equipment’, one observer says.

@Rocky B. 1. Singapore is a Sovereign Country - and can choose to be friend with China as much as Singapore can be friend with US.

2. It doesn't means that US is unfriendly with China - means Singapore must be unfriendly with China or have to be unfriendly with US.

3. Singapore operate a principle of "Friends with All, Enemies with none. - and has been upholding this principles not only with speech - but also with thoughst and actions.

@Babe B. 1. SuperPowers have alot to learn from this small city-state - and if SuperPowers are able to upheld and go along with this simple but all encompassing principle - the World will be a very peaceful World - devoid of Ignorance, Hatred and Greed - for power, for self-centred gains - at the expenses of others.

@Rocky B. Playing both sides have its danger and just like playing with fire it will get burned one day. Since Singapore is hosting US naval facilities and is strategically located  for logistical support to  conflicts in the South  China sea , it would be in a very difficult position  should any mishaps between China and the US happen in the SC sea and  accidently triggering a war.  Besides how would it reconcile this with its Asean partners since it is one US base besides the  Philippines,

@steven.fastw**@****** The only country that is unhappy that US has naval bases in its neighborhood is China. That is by design than a coincidence. ;)

@Rocky B. Singapore provides the same commercial services to visiting Chinese warships as it does to other countries.  In October 2019, Singapore and China inked an enhanced defence agreement which included establishing mutual logistics support arrangements. What that means exactly remains to be seen.

@steven.fastw**@****** 1. Singapore don't have to play both sides.
2. Singapore port is a free port - and invite all Countries' commercial ships and navies to berth at its port - to berth, do maintenance, refuel, get logistics, make port call etc.
3. Late leader Lee Kuan Yew once said he had no objections to both the US and China one day having logistics bases in his country.
4. China has already secured a few megaberth in the new Tuas port.
5. Singapore foreign affair principle is very simple "Friends with All, Enemies with None. Forge mutual benefits with Win-Win outcome". No "Big-Small Eyes" to any Countries (ie. no special priviliege - All are treated EQUALLY.)
6. When visiting ships come to Singapore ports - whether commercial or navies - all are treated with friendship and not conflict.
7. Even when NK trade missiles and US trade warplane with nuclear - both Presidents shake hands in Sentosa to talk "Peace" and "No War".
8. Singapore don't need to choose sides and don't want to choose sides.

@Babe B. PUBLISHED NOV 21, 2018 6:30 PM BY THE MARITIME EXECUTIVE COSCO Shipping Ports and PSA Corporation Limited have signed a memorandum of understanding for the addition of two new berths at the COSCO-PSA Terminal in Singapore.
With the launch of the two new berths, the terminal will have five mega-vessel berths, increasing its annual handling capacity from three million TEUs to about five million TEUs. The new berths are designed to strengthen COSCO's position in Singapore and support mega-vessels and mega-alliances.

@Babe B. The best outcome is the 3 superpowers US, China and Russia - coexist peacefully and not use smaller countries as their pawns - while promoting peace and prosperity for the world.
If the 3 fight - the World will end. So what is the point of conflict and confrontation?
Only friendship, cooperation and collaboration - can bring Global Peace and Prosperity.
