[11:21 am, 20/01/2021] +: Additional measures may be needed to keep Covid-19 in check here, as community cases inch up and a local cluster has emerged for the first time in several months.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) announced on Tuesday (Jan 19) that to prevent the formation of Covid-19 clusters in high-risk settings, and to minimise risk of further community transmission, plans to reopen nightclubs and karaoke outlets specifically will be deferred until further notice.

📢 Topic 📢

💬 As the vaccination drive is being progressively rolled out, everyone must continue to play their part to stay safe.

How can we encourage others to stay vigilant and continue complying with safe management measures?

Covid-19 task force co-chair Lawrence Wong said the country has seen more new infected cases in the community in recent days, and a local cluster linked to a police para-vet.

He also added that contact tracers were working hard to identify all the possible contacts, ring-fence the potential cases and prevent them from spreading further.

There are also plans to set up 36 Covid-19 vaccination centres from February, These centres should be able to cater to at least 2,000 people a day.

[11:28 am, 20/01/2021] +: i think twice temp taking is not enough for workplace

[11:29 am, 20/01/2021] +: must remind all who do SE, it is like declare I dont have flu symptoms

[11:30 am, 20/01/2021] +: like what? go back to Phase 2 measure?

Alvin

[11:30 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think the virus have mutated that most symptoms don’t even show up now

Caleb

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: start charging people who pass thru SE, and have flu symtomps

Alvin

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Ie cough or sneezing etc

Nats

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Hi new Megan or old Megan with new number,

I see a lot of the problem is related to people refusing to see the doctor for any symptoms at all because of the fear of getting tested (whether the results come back positive or negative) cuz the issue is they don't want the inconvenience

I can only say this, how to encourage everyone to go to the doctor for any symptom at all is another issue altogether

Cuz apart from this, everything will be repeated again and again and then there'll be relative silence in this group again

Caleb

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: ya, the Questions is like all the same for the past few times

Alvin

[11:31 am, 20/01/2021] +: Age old problem which I raised last year

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: No worker will want to stay home 5 days MC

Caleb

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: can the test be done quickly? so just give the 2 days MC until test result is out

Alvin

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: Their bosses won’t look kindly on them also

Caleb

[11:32 am, 20/01/2021] +: or consider other type of testing, that have faster turnaround

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: One year only 14 days MC

Valli

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Should enforce to employers before entry to inside Job site or office , to bar anyone with flu symptoms from entry.

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: If exceed become unpaid leave

Ken

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: MC really is tough for those work on operation related that requires hands on 😅

If MC too much also kena

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: So how?

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: No one will see doctor in Jan

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: This year just started

Caleb

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: 👍

Alvin

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Maybe June then all see doctor

[11:33 am, 20/01/2021] +: Lol

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: My site implement HL as part of the covid MC reporting.

So not 14 days but becomes 40 days

CQ

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Temp checks are pointless, cos not every case will present with a fever. There are in fact many cases where Covid positive patients don't have a fever or the fever presents only quite a number of days later. It only serves to give a false sense of security imho

Caleb

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: HL?

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: But how many company can afford that 😅

Nicolette Tan

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: $5 or $10 under the flu subsidy scheme at PHPCs or polyclinics

Ken

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Hospitalization leave

Nicolette Tan

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: think the policy is 3 days? or if u dont take test 5 days? cant rmb

Alvin

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Hospitalization Levae

[11:34 am, 20/01/2021] +: Leave

[11:35 am, 20/01/2021] +: 5 days

[11:35 am, 20/01/2021] +: If you take test wait till results are out

[11:35 am, 20/01/2021] +: Negative you can return to work

Caleb

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: so the current 50% of the time WFH is good, is got some symptoms, stay home and work.

Valli

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: This is a good alternative by the employer. Employers should implement this.

Caleb

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: 👍

CQ

[11:36 am, 20/01/2021] +: Or during this period, the companies should just suspend their normal MC policy of like 14 days, cos you would've burst your limit by the 3rd time you get a "flu MC"

Ken

[11:37 am, 20/01/2021] +: Not all jobs can WFH 😅

Alvin

[11:37 am, 20/01/2021] +: The company I work for mostly all return to work liao

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: No one takes the safe distancing measures seriously anymore outside

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: I see crowds during lunch time and at shopping malls

Ken

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: That’s quite true... my Jurong island side already super crowded waiting for bus

[11:38 am, 20/01/2021] +: No space at all

[11:39 am, 20/01/2021] +: How to safe distance 🤷🏻‍♂️

Alvin

[11:40 am, 20/01/2021] +: So the question becomes how to balance economic activities vs safe distancing and health

Valli

[11:41 am, 20/01/2021] +: With no SMM in practise, can expect community cases to rise very fast

Ken

[11:41 am, 20/01/2021] +: Really don’t want to see a CNY surge 🤦🏻

Valli

[11:46 am, 20/01/2021] +: Authorities should also look at the increasing numbers in imported cases. One slip-up by them, cannot imagine what can happen.

Should limit unnecessary arrivals by foreigners during these period crucial moments where cases are rising before it is too late.

Berny

[11:50 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think ICA is already limiting the entry, not too sure about now, but during cb and phase 1, foreigners need to apply for entry, subject to approval

Valli

[11:53 am, 20/01/2021] +: Why then is the high numbers in domestic workers with Covid coming in?

Berny

[11:55 am, 20/01/2021] +: Are domestic workers non essential?

Ken

[11:55 am, 20/01/2021] +: 😅 no.. for some family they are very important

CQ

[11:56 am, 20/01/2021] +: I think the surge will happen, considering how many people still think "family lah, never mind", "we know each other, never mind". Macham like the virus can distinguish that

Alvin

[11:56 am, 20/01/2021] +: At home ppl don’t wear masks

[11:57 am, 20/01/2021] +: So if someone is infected and not aware will easily spread to family members

Berny

[0:01 pm, 20/01/2021] +: And personal hygiene

[0:02 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Dont forget that there are asymptomatic people walking out there and if they dont use tt or se, he,she,it is a walking time bomb

While the Economic Development Board (EDB) has done well to secure $17.2 billion of fixed-asset investments in an exceptionally difficult year, the road ahead will be challenging, said Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing on Wednesday (Jan 20).

Valli

[0:21 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Is it confirm that all the asymptomatic recovered people no longer infectious ?

Alvin

[0:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Yes and it gets worse if they don’t even know or we’re never detected and ownself recovered

Berny

[0:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: No idea, I stopped following the news long ago

Alvin

[0:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Imagine 14 days or more this person spreading to others like mad but dunno about it

[0:25 pm, 20/01/2021] +: The only way is mandatory testing for everyone who is in Singapore

[0:25 pm, 20/01/2021] +: I think I mentioned this before too

Valli

[0:33 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Including recoveries should all be tested fortnightly & then monthly.

Should be mandatory.

[0:35 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Nothing has changed unless the majority of the people get vaccinated - as virus will still be lurking and infect the community if people don't observe safe distancing and wear masks.

2. Notice that some people have not conscientiously wear masks in public or maintain social distancing in the public.

3. When roster for vaccination come out, encourage people to get themselves vaccinated and don't procrastinate.

4. Will wait for the government advice on vaccination for 80 years and above - in lieu of news from Norway where about 30 elderly with chronic illness passed away after vaccination.

Valli

[0:36 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Recoveries are of the thought that they are now immune to the virus & do not have to worry about SMM.

[0:37 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: https://www.straitstimes.com/world/europe/norway-finds-no-direct-link-between-elderly-deaths-and-covid-19-vaccine                                                                                                                             Norway health authorities say that those elderly death who already are chronically ill has no direct link to the vaccines - in 1st shot.

[0:38 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Need government advice on the vaccination of elderly and with chronic illness - before rostering this age and health group for vaccination.

Israel lead the world in vaccination - using predominantly Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Israel project it will be the first country in the world to get back to normal lives.

[1:26 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

https://www.politico.eu/article/israel-coronavirus-vaccine-success-secret/

[1:47 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Israel follow by UK, US West Virginia - successfully innoculate elderly without bad news.

Norway is the only country reported death from elderly with chronic illness after vaccination.

YT

[2:02 pm, 20/01/2021] +: It could have been a case of vaccines that went bad due to improper handling (e.g. breaking the cold chain) etc.,

[2:13 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Don't know, Pfizer-BioNTech got to give the answer after verifying with Norway health authorities.

A news report that those elderly are terminally ill but still given the shot.

YT

[2:15 pm, 20/01/2021] +: I wonder why our SG government is so slow in rolling out the vaccine.

[2:16 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Vaccines are the only hope the world can emerge from the pandemic.

We have to be careful and yet determined to get people vaccinated to defeat the covid.

YT

[2:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: The window closes the more we wait. As it is, community cases are rising due to inconsiderate and selfish individuals. So, if we wait further, there will be an explosion of cases again and vaccination won't be so easily organized.

[2:17 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes. This is the challenge.

100% moderna vaccines have been booked.

85% Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine have been booked.

Those who procastinate will have to use other vaccines.

YT

[2:31 pm, 20/01/2021] +: I don't think it's so much a case of  people not wanting it. But more of why it isn't available yet to the general public. The government needs to get cracking on this. Too slow in rolling out, in my opinion.

[2:31 pm, 20/01/2021] +: And why is it tendered to the private sector? Can't it be controlled centrally? Train the military personnel to do it? This is after all, war time, albeit a different kind of war.

[2:35 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Don't know...

Many doctors have their core duties and nurses are equally stretched - as vaccination is outside their primary role I guess.

In Singapore, restructure hospitals are our primary healthcare service providers.

Need to get the private sector involved else overall health care will be impacted.

US activating retired doctors and nurses to do the vaccination.

[2:37 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Remember adverse reaction from the jab needs to be taken care off.

Doctors need to check those frail before vaccination as well as treat those who have adverse response after the jab.

Valli

[2:38 pm, 20/01/2021] +: If any side effects experience after vaccination, is our medical expenses & long term treatment covered by Govt?

[2:38 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

I think adverse effect programme cover it.

Valli

[2:39 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Where is this programme mention or highlighted?

[2:43 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Top 10 things to know about COVID-19 vaccination:

1.    Only vaccines that are safe and effective will be used in Singapore. Only Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is approved for use now.

2.    We want as many people to get vaccinated as possible. Take the vaccination when it is offered to you. This will not only protect you, but also our loved ones (including those who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons). This will help us open up our economy safely and protect our livelihoods.

3.    Vaccination will be free and voluntary for all Singaporeans and long-term residents.

4.    The vaccines are coming in batches. So vaccination will be carried out in phases, starting with priority groups. Healthcare workers are currently being vaccinated followed by our elderly residents.

5.    The vaccine will be offered to all Singaporeans and long-term residents by the end of 2021.

6.    As with all vaccines, there is a small risk of side effects. There will be doctors and nurses around to observe you for 30 minutes after you receive the vaccination.

7.    A vaccine injury financial assistance programme will support those who develop serious side effects. Few are expected to require this.

8.    When the vaccine is offered to you, you will be asked to make a booking before going to a designated vaccination site.

9.    Vaccination is important but it has to be combined with safe management measures, good hygiene practices, contact tracing and more extensive testing to deter and detect cases.

10.    Let us all play our part, stay united so that we can overcome and emerge stronger from this crisis.

[2:43 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Point 7..

Ben

[2:44 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Highly unlikely that would kill people..... seems an obvious thing they would know and not release to the public.

[2:47 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If many countries elderly experience the same thing like in Norway, then the vaccines may not be suitable for elderly with chronic illness.

But so many countries are successful.

So wonder why Norway cases are so different.

Thus Pfizer-BioNTech must robustly pursue to find the answer and let everyone know.

Ben

[2:48 pm, 20/01/2021] +: The good news is that all of SIA will be vaccinated quickly. Good for foreign travellers and good protection for their staff!

[4:23 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Not sure, about 70% over.

Rama

[4:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Good level for further consideration

[4:24 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

🤷

[5:08 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Not sure is it right to talk about succession now when the pandemic is not yet over.

But DPM is a quiet achiever that many may not be aware of:-

1. He is a PPS of Mr Lee KY. No one who is brilliant enough can be PPS for Mr LKY - because he needs to be a strategic thinker who can cover the full spectrum of domestic Economy, social and political issues but also foreign affairs.

2. He is a brilliant senior civil servants in MAS managing Singapore monetary policy and subsequently become Finance Minister.

3. He adopted the ITM - the first strategic policy that meant to tackle the disruptive tech - that severely impact business and jobs - with strategic transformation to keep us competitive.

4. He co-chair Singapore and China annual economic meeting.

5. He strategically move to contest in East coast GRC when he will have comfortably stay in tampines GRC and win it.

Caleb

[5:11 pm, 20/01/2021] +: But can't speak well enough as a head of state.

[5:11 pm, 20/01/2021] +: So can't represent well of Singapore

[5:13 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore is the first government in the world that adopt ITM to tackle disruptive tech - and is in the verge of success as our productivity for the first time have grown successfully over the years once ITM is implemented.

China use "dual circulation strategy".

Ken

[5:14 pm, 20/01/2021] +: That really affects the image to a certain extend.

LKY spends years learning how to speak mandarin well. So we need a leader than can rally the crowd as well. To give inspiring speech to push Singapore onwards with much more spirit.

Nats

[5:14 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Lol enough with your point 5 💩 please

Ken

[5:14 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Where Singapore used to have nothing much other than a dream sold by LKY and his team

[5:14 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Well everyone will start somewhere.

Remember Eminent GCT didn't speak well and MM Lee at that time commented him.

But eventually Eminent GCT show that he is a good leader.

Ron Ho

[5:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Brilliance, intelligence, strategist by themselves are very good traits - but they themselves are not adequate to be an effective leader. An effective leader is one who can captivate the people, who can point the direction in a manner than people want to follow and be led. In order to be an effective leader, great communication skills are required. You can always have brilliant and intelligent deputies who can provide great plans and strategies but the Prime Minister must be effective in delivering. Sadly, our DMP needs to improve vastly in the communications area.

Ken

[5:16 pm, 20/01/2021] +: All done so far was to prepare for disease X. But really if it is not so deadly no one will fear.

Only to a certain extend we can prepare for the disease X as panic is on a different level.

[5:17 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Won’t be just calm down by a few speech from our dear ministers.

[5:17 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Just hope that it won’t come so soon... I still want to travel the world 😭😭

[5:18 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Trump is a good speaker.

Is he a good leader?

Ken

[5:18 pm, 20/01/2021] +: To us not.. but to half of American he is 🤣

[5:19 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Able to speak well gain him enough support although most of his content is rubbish

[5:19 pm, 20/01/2021] +: But he believe enough and presented in a way that his supporters believe in him to storm the capital

[5:19 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

That's why a competent leader is more important.

Ken

[5:20 pm, 20/01/2021] +: If you can do but cannot sell..

Is your product good? Yes

Anyone using it? No cause no one want to buy it

[5:21 pm, 20/01/2021] +: In the end people see what is now.. not you see down the road sadly

[5:21 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Let him have the chance, space and time - after pandemic is over.

He does not want to overshadow.

Nats

[5:22 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Sai la

Caleb

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: he already casting a bad shadow liao

Ken

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: In the internet world... you know it is not possible 😅

Somemore everyone will remember the east coast plan

Caleb

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: the dislike shadow

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Only time will tell.

Not now.

Rama

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Agree

[5:23 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Not sure

[5:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Hope he will!

Ken

[5:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: We our society build on merits and very unforgiving for failures.

Unless our mindset change if not any failure will be tagged on to him

[5:24 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

When the time is right, the whole machinery move.

Rama

[5:24 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Agree

Ken

[5:25 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Even won the presidency 🤣🤣

I was so shock when he won. But yes in current world anything can happen.

[5:26 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Why he won, cause his competitors are just too weak when compare with him.

This time was also a narrow win.. if trump is bad, then why still so high support?

Rama

[5:30 pm, 20/01/2021] +: So, the electoral college votes can overturn the popular vote!

Nats

[5:30 pm, 20/01/2021] +: He's freaking adamant that East Coast Plan is a real thing when all it was was a PR disaster they managed to kind of recover from with an inadequate response

Rama

[5:30 pm, 20/01/2021] +: 🤷‍♀️

Nats

[5:31 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Sai la stop insisting this for the love of whatever god you don't believe in

jimmy chew

[5:56 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Morals aside he delivered. Like Hitler good or bad leader. He galvanised the whole world to do evil

[6:16 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

How to be an effective leader:-

1. He must be competent - by getting solutions and policies right. And he must be visionary - able to see things that people can't see - and set the right direction.

2. He must be able to deliver and get people to back him (though initially people may not be able to see from his point of view.

This can be an iterative approach - like peeling the onion - consistent, persistent, progressive and the right outcome reveal bit by bit.

3. Despite all odds, even when many people rule him out, he is confident, preserverance and lead by example until its fruition.

4. Finally, he will win over the majority - those who support him, and those who did not support him initially.

5. It is this time and space DPM Heng will need and exploit to reveal his potential and solidify his succession.

[6:35 pm, 20/01/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

And this is the approach many of our young 4G Cabinet Ministers, MOS and other office holders will take to be an effective leaders.

And we already see the potential and mettle coming from our 4G younger Minister Chan Chun Sing in trade, Ong YK in education and his favourite Transport, Lawrence Wong as co-chair in managing covid, Josephine Teo in handling jobs etc.

Time and space are the attributes that 4G young leaders must exploit to be effective leaders.

Caleb

[6:37 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Why they take so long to find out one ah

[6:39 pm, 20/01/2021] +: With now mask on and hygiene level up. Should not have these Liao right?

Alvin

[6:41 pm, 20/01/2021] +: Cos TB should have almost been eradicated
