[11:34 am, 30/06/2020] +: 📢 Topic 📢
Many companies, community and individual volunteers are partnering the Government in its digitalisation efforts. How can we encourage seniors to embrace digitalisation?
In support of Seniors Go Digital programme, IMDA has worked with mobile service providers to offer two types of connectivity plans for seniors: Seniors Go Digital mobile plans with larger data bundles at a lower cost, and subsidised smartphones and data plans for lower-income seniors.
Under the newly formed SG Digital Office (SDO), digital ambassadors have been recruited with the aim of reaching out to seniors, as well as hawkers and wet market stallholders, and encourage them to adopt digital tools.
More than 300 youth volunteers from Youth Corps Singapore will also be reaching out to vulnerable seniors from 40 social service agencies from July 2020 to help seniors pick up relevant digital skills such as using digital devices, communicating online and practising good cybersecurity hygiene.

CQ
[2:16 pm, 30/06/2020] +: I did.......... How to search the sources, if something sounds incredulous must check first, don't just accept something as bible truth even if your friend sumpah gua jee that it's true...
Solid example. Remember there was a fake article saying that your hands can catch fire if you use a hand sanitiser? She sent me the link, I explained to her that it's not possible because as you rub your hands, the alcohol vaporises, so it won't catch fire like that. 1 week later, she sends me a similar WhatsApp chain message where it read "my friend's daughter suffered burns", and she took it to believe that it was her friend's friend's daughter, since the message came from her friend. So she took it to be a "personal warning" in that sense? And I taught her how to identify forwarded messages as well previously.
[2:16 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Haiz.... So to frus or not to frus?
[2:47 pm, 30/06/2020] +: yes that's true, but there was the fear mongering article that sanitisers with alcohol content catches fire when you cook.

[2:49 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Hahahaha.
Well a China guy spray his whole house with alcohol to kill covid-19.
When he turn on his Aircon, it trigger an explosion and his whole block got burn down.

Ken
[2:49 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Non chemical person don’t know what is LEL
[2:50 pm, 30/06/2020] +: LEL lower explosive limited 😅
[2:50 pm, 30/06/2020] +: But to rich that concentration also quite toxic to humans
[2:50 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Reach”

CQ
[2:51 pm, 30/06/2020] +: well, let's just say that i'm glad that none of my aunt's friends tried to microwave their cash because "a lot of germs"!! 🤣

Ken
[2:51 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Haiz autocorrect is a problem
Lower explosive limit”

Ken
[2:55 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Anyway Temasek that time got give out water based disinfectant no?

[2:55 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
That's why Temasek distribute sanitizer that has no alcohol content.

CQ
[2:55 pm, 30/06/2020] +: This has been debunked though: https://apnews.com/afs:Content:8507181510

Ken
[2:55 pm, 30/06/2020] +: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16540196/
Anyway ways to make water based one... just that this one will have a bit of residue

CQ
[2:57 pm, 30/06/2020] +: anyway for most of us, just pop into the washroom and wash your hands with soap and water...
the issue wasn't so much the nature and effects of the disinfectant, but how easy it is for people to believe in fake news.

[2:57 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Oh is it.
Nowadays very difficult to differentiate between true and fake news.

Rama
[2:58 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Oh!

[2:58 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
But alcohol sanitizer do cause harm to our skin and when children put it in their mouth - there will be harmful effects.

Ken
[3:00 pm, 30/06/2020] +: All chemicals have certain harmful effects of over used. Soap and water the best to disinfect hands
[3:01 pm, 30/06/2020] +: The change of pH itself will kill most bacteria and viruses.

CQ
[3:08 pm, 30/06/2020] +: To be absolutely nitpicky about it, even if you use the wrong kind of soap or wash your hands too much, the skin can also dry out and crack. have to follow up with moisturiser afterwards lor.

Ken
[3:10 pm, 30/06/2020] +: 🤷‍♂️ then how? Lol
I work in lab also no issue.... no such things as dry hands. Partly using better grade soap comes with moisturizer 😅

CQ
[3:11 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Yah lor, use better grade soap and/or follow up with moisturiser lor. Or take a spa day and put hand mask!! 😝

XaniceAcai
[4:14 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Trust the local newspaper... Not like funni website..

CQ
[4:18 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Even local newspapers like Zaobao or Wanbao also sometimes picked up on fake news before it gets debunked... And it's always the sensationalised news that is remembered but never the clarifications that come later.

XaniceAcai
[4:19 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Some are breaking news.. So a short summary. Wait for full news loh..

Blue and White Flag Guy
[4:20 pm, 30/06/2020] +: They want to stay in the know and be the first to report, so they don't really care until people start to make noize say it's fake news

XaniceAcai
[4:20 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Yeah.. Just read at the glance...
[4:21 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Google to them how to detect fake news..

Rama
[4:49 pm, 30/06/2020] +: ISD!

[4:51 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
We are in the middle of a deep serious crisis that rival the 1930 deep depression.

We must vote wisely and ensure we have a strong and good government team to tie us through this crisis.

We must not cripple the team that can save us and move us out of this crisis - our lives, our jobs, our economy and our future.

Rama
[4:51 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Totally agree

Jimmy Chew
[4:55 pm, 30/06/2020] +: 👍 true. We need to know who can represent the people. Need brain and heart 💓

Stanley
[4:56 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Need 2nd voice in parliament to do checks n balances

CQ
[4:58 pm, 30/06/2020] +: The bell might come out soon guys.....

Ken
[4:58 pm, 30/06/2020] +: I do think MP need to be full time
[4:59 pm, 30/06/2020] +: They are well paid enough, to be focus in the things they are suppose to be doing.

Thomas
[5:04 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Need 2nd voice but must contribute with solutions that is likely workable or logical and not complain

Ken
[5:04 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Complaint and no solution most of the time. Singaporean way 🤣🤣
Then after sometime forget 🤷‍♂️

Rama
[5:09 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Not for me

Rama
[5:10 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Yes

Boon2

[5:20 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Go with yr heart..

[5:28 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
The hypothesis assumption is if MP work full-time, then town council fund won't be mismanaged.
Got to test this hypothesis is it true.

Ken
[5:32 pm, 30/06/2020] +: For me is more simple, you have more times on your hands you walk the ground. Other than special days.
Cabinet only a handful of them. The rest can focus on the place they are caring for.

[5:35 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Then another hypothesis to test is :- is full time MP better than non full time MP.
I think the test is base on election results from past track record.

Blue and White Flag Guy
[5:35 pm, 30/06/2020] +: No need say further lah we know

Ken
[5:37 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Many of them are overworked, having multiple hats... booking them for events is hard. 1 to 2 months in advance.
Almost every weekend burn events after events, once or twice a week night burn for MPS. They can be very good at what they do but they are still human.

Blue and White Flag Guy
[5:38 pm, 30/06/2020] +: If you want, then might as well do performance review of every MP and deal with those that ponteng and only appear once every 4 or 5 years

Leonard Lau
[5:43 pm, 30/06/2020] +: I propose that every candidate must demostrate his ability in community building  with a servant-leadership in mind .
A candidate perhaps has to be involved eg. 10 years in community service before he can join the GE.
From this aspect , he/she would be tested and likely possessed skilled eg. Finance ,  mangement etc as well as  understanding of real social issues .

[5:45 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
As far as I know, capable people, whether politicians, top civil servants, top business people, top professionals seldom hold one post.
They are double hats, triple hats or more.
It is a waste of talents if one can do more than one hat but are force to do one post.
Many MPs are also office holders.

[9:14 pm, 30/06/2020] +: Maybe this is the year where human population reduces by half..... #thanoshappened 😢

[9:15 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
If human able to eat meat by not keeping and slaughtering too many animals - then human will not subject to such animal to human host epidemic.
[9:16 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Eg. Cell culture meat will be a good option.

[9:34 pm, 30/06/2020] ☸️  Danny 心:
Our R&D should work doubly hard to perfect the cell culture meat and tissue re-engineering meat.
And offer this as another food source not only to the local market but also the overseas markets.
This will drastically reduced the need to rear and slaughter animals for food and reduced the animals to human host epidemic.
