[12:00 pm, 26/06/2020] +: πŸ“’TopicπŸ“’
Today marks the start of the second week of Phase 2. How can we continue to take part in community activities in a safe manner?
Under phase 2 of the re-opening of Singapore’s economy which started last Friday, more businesses are now operating, and dining-in is also allowed at food and beverage outlets.
Speaking at a virtual press conference yesterday, Health Minister Gan Kim Yong and National Development Minister Lawrence Wong said that
Singapore will not be moving down from Dorscon orange for some time to come because the country is still not out of the woods yet for Covid-19.
They cautioned against letting our guard down and called for people to "maintain our guard" and "maintain our vigilance".

Notice many who dine in coffee shop after eating did not pull up their face mask - but keep talking to their friends for a long time with their mask down.

Valli
[12:28 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Agree.
Even at job sites, after going thru CCB & Phase 1 , reminders are still required to enforce the wearing of mask.
MOM can brainstorm  & work with employers to provide some quality appropriate mask for those working under hot sun eg Shipyards & construction sites.
It is tough putting on N95 mask for these industries.

Leonard Lau
[12:29 pm, 26/06/2020] +: The logical  thing To do is EITHER buy and eat at home OR finish up food and go .

The sense of danger is not there.
When dine in people must assume that there are infected case among us.
And we must always put on the mask when there are strangers around.

Diners to remove masks only while eating or drinking: MOH
Diners should only remove their masks while eating or drinking, rather than for "the whole duration" of the meal, said the Ministry of Health (MOH) on Wednesday (Jun 24).
Responding to media queries, MOH reiterated that masks must be worn at all times to prevent droplets from spreading COVID-19, except when performing strenuous activities or while eating or drinking.

Anne
[4:23 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Can we be sure she did not put on mask because she is selfish, or because she had a different perspective or understanding? Initially when Singapore was infected with C-19, we didn’t see the need to wear masks either.

Ben
[4:38 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Nor did we see the need for a lockdown. Best to examine the evidence don't you think? Pretty clear now we have more information to make better decisions. Do you have a different perspective?

Anne
[4:50 pm, 26/06/2020] +: This is exactly what I mean. Initially we didn’t see a need for masks and circuit breaker, so let’s not just assume that anybody who didn’t see a need for masks and lock downs are thinking and acting selfishly.

Dong Liang
[4:52 pm, 26/06/2020] +: I thought they initially plan to send Abu bakar from Keppel, he is definitely more popular than Ivan Lim.

[5:04 pm, 26/06/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Important to ask is:-

1. For a prolong period of time when people deal with him, is he like that or the particular incident is one off?

2. If one off and not a perpetual behaviour, then we must be big hearted to accept him.

3. Because no one is perfect in this world.

4. Who can raise their hand and say they never err in their whole entire life but live like a Saint and flawless?

Yes.
One must be kind in the heart first.
And then improve for the better.
Because no one is perfect.
And when one is mindful, one will be conscious to improve their not so perfect parts.

[5:36 pm, 26/06/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Yes. There will be check and balance.
If a behaviour is persistent, people will find out and he will get voted out in one term.
But if he has changed and contribute in positive ways, then we have given him a chance and we have not wasted a talent.

Rama
[5:41 pm, 26/06/2020] +: A leopard cannot change its spots!

Ken
[5:45 pm, 26/06/2020] +: No one is perfect, but not too sure. Do we gave him the chance?
Partly also he need to be mentally strong cause any down fall will also be considered inside. 🀷‍♂️
But we have good example TPL manage to pull off a SMC. 🀷‍♂️
So we never know.
[5:46 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Being a MP is not a normal job. Is worst then being a celebrity. With every action under a microscope.

Dong Liang
[5:51 pm, 26/06/2020] +: I am sure he is mentally strong if not he won't be able to climb so high in the corporate life. But being a MP needs to have compassion and empathy, which Ivan lim really lacks judging from the online comments. Compassion is difficult to pick up.

CQ
[5:52 pm, 26/06/2020] +: There were multiple anecdotes of him from various points in life, from poly, to uni, to army, to reservist, to Keppel. All attesting to his elitist, humble brag, and zero empathy/ consideration for those subordinate to him.
As Min Masagos said, you don't look at one incident but you need to look at his whole life. I agree. Unfortunately this statement has become a double-edged sword if those anecdotes were indeed true, that he's really not a good person.
I agree that we are not saints and we don't purport to be one. But when there's more than 1 person coming out to attest to his attitude (and of course taken with a pinch of salt because its social media), should we still ignore those stories or should we think a bit more about what kind of a leader is he going to be?

Ken
[5:53 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Lol I am sure I met a few that don’t just act. But what can we do? Pull down the minister that are inside the GRC? πŸ˜”

CQ
[5:53 pm, 26/06/2020] +: I agree. Hard skills can learn, soft skills also can pick up. Character is hard to change.

Jimmy Chew
[6:08 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Takes lots of guts to call out a politician. Like those who complained about Trump. When no one support the whistle blower. They have to bow out. Elitism is deep. They will remember

[6:14 pm, 26/06/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:

Ivan Lim saga: PAP’s Masagos says GE is time for candidates to ‘redeem’ themselves
Nicholas Yong

SINGAPORE — In light of online allegations made against new People’s Action Party (PAP) candidate Ivan Lim Shaw Chua, the General Election is a time for individuals to “redeem” themselves, said the party’s vice chairman Masagos Zulkifli on Friday (26 June).
“GE is a time when people who have been introduced will also elicit responses, which are not surprising sometimes. But also I think it is important for the candidates who may have been alleged to be something or other to also prove themselves,” said Masagos, who was addressing a virtual press conference.
“And I think it is not a moment in their career or their time with people that define them, but as a person throughout their life, and also an opportunity for them if they have done something in the past, to redeem themselves. Because we have seen qualities in all our candidates that make them what we think (are) good leaders that will serve our people well.”
Masagos, who did not mention any names, was responding to a question about online criticisms of Lim, 42, who was formally unveiled as a candidate on Monday. Since then, multiple posts have emerged online, purportedly from former colleagues and National Servicemen, claiming that he is arrogant, elitist and lacks compassion.
Lim currently manages specialised vessels for Keppel Shipyard. The father of four has been volunteering at Henderson-Dawson constituency over the past year.

maybellrejoice1
[6:42 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Yes it's important to give people chances to redeem themselves. Everyone deserves mercy, compassion & forgiveness & not condemnation. All of us are not perfect & we have alot of flaws. Cannot be self righteous or judgemental too soon. It's best that we judge ourselves first.

Dong Liang
[6:43 pm, 26/06/2020] +: What turns out to be an asset initially for the party to motivate people who has  humble beginnings can succeed in life now becomes a liability. It is no doubt the tea session selection didnt achieve its objective.

CQ
[6:51 pm, 26/06/2020] +: It's not that I'm not prepared to give him a chance, but with so many accounts of him in that light, I would place him on the backburner for another 4 years and let him rehabilitate himself there first, let him show the people that he recognises past criticisms and he's no longer like that. It's not just about 2nd chances, it's also to see whether he can really fit the role of being a true leader with empathy which 4G is really looking for.

Rama
[6:52 pm, 26/06/2020] +: Likewise

[6:54 pm, 26/06/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:
Well the party have to assess people sentiment on him.
If majority feel the same, and is not comfortable, versus those who can give him a chance to prove and redeem himself.
The party I believe will weigh the balance.
For me I am open.

You're so right. πŸ‘

Danny
Hahahaha...

@@@@@
Thank you Danny for the info. πŸ€— The PAP actually does extensive background checks on candidates.
If a person is so morally flawed, without any hope for redemption, they will never be considered. There will definitely be naysayers with an axe to grind. Those who have come out in the open to destroy /condemn others on social media; already says alot about them. They have a personal vendetta for revenge.
So sorry if I wrote too much. Just sharing my thoughts.

Danny
No problem.
