ISIS ideology talk about setting up a physical land as its caliphate – but a physical on Earth is impermanent – which subject to decay and destruction and all human living in it will die one day. How can this caliphate be a Pureland?
How can this Pureland be Divine? Where this caliphate is establish with blood, violence, where explosion, bullets and bombs abound – how can this caliphate be a Pureland – this ISIS caliphate is a Devil Den, a Satanic Hell, an Evil Tomb – where corpse, death, skeleton spill all over the land.
Pureland is build by Pure Mind and Pure Heart of the Divine anchor on Universal No-Self, Universal Compassion, Universal Panna Wisdom.
Pureland build on these 3 Universal Wholesome attributes will help dwellers progress Spiritually with wholesome Mental Cultivation rooted on wholesome Moral Values, wholesome Kindness, wholesome Goodness ----- where all dwellers are characterized as Saints, Bodhisattvas and the Enlightened Ones.
What does IS caliphate preach – suicide bombings and death for their disciples, bloodshed, pain, sufferings, destruction, evilness, cruelty, fighting, violence ---- all the hallmarks of Avici Hell characeteristics, Devil disposition.
But yet, many of IS caliphate disciples are still being fool that IS caliphate is Heavenly where in fact, it is Avici Hell.
So even black can be white and white can be make to be black – by just fooling the ignorant Mind and Heart.

What is this "Pureland" you talk of. I've
never heard of it anywhere else. Did you just make it up?

All religions have definition of afterlife.
Eg. Christianity believe in Heaven where God is.
Islam believe in Heaven where Allah is.
Hinduism believe in Heaven where God is.
Taoism believe in 天界where 神仙 is.
Buddhism believe (and those Enlightened in their lifetimes) – and can experienced Nirvana (a place of no birth, no death, cessation of Sufferings) in his current life.
There is one lineage of Buddhism – the Mahayana Buddhism whose final objective is attaining Nirvana as its final goal. But the Buddha and Bodhisattvas realise many sentinent beings are unable to attain Enlightenment or enter Nirvana by his or her own efforts, has through the Buddha – specifically Amitabha Buddha’s Vow created a Pureland for disciples to be born in there for mental cultivation until the disciples eradicate all their 3 inherent evil roots of Ignorance of Universal Law, Anger and Hatred to attain the final Nirvana.
Pureland is for afterlife but also for present life.
Pureland is in the Heart and Mind for present life.
Pureland is for afterlife if a person aspire to be reborn there after passing away.
A person who attain Samadhi concentration on Amitabha Buddha and His Pureland – experience Pureland in the Heart and Mind. And everything he sees, he see no fault in sentinent beings he meet. This is Pureland in the Heart and Mind (not a physical place). A mental place. This is a proximity to Nirvana if a person practice and attain such Samadhi Jhana on Amitabha Buddha and His Pureland.

When a person see Pureland in his Heart and Mind, he do not see good and bad.
He only see positive and negative karma - the cause and the effects.
He do not see bad about people, he only see all sentinent beings is inherently good, but occasionally lapse in bad behavior and is capable of repenting and become good.
He see all people, all sentinent beings as his brothers, sisters, parents, close relatives that will suffer equal pain and sufferings as him - and he Vows to save them all as he save himself from Eternal Sufferings.
No matter how evil a person is, one day he will realize his mistakes as he suffer from his extremely bad karma or effects or consequences of his past action - and one day will repent and will be capable of being salvaged to be born in Pureland and attain the final Enlightenment.
Hence Pureland has 9 grades Lotus - to mentally cultivate sentinent beings or Saints to Final Enlightenment of Nirvana.
The 9 grade Lotus to salvage all beings are for :-
(1) Bodhisattvas
(2) Paccekka Buddhas
(3) Arahats and Saints
(4) Heavenly Beings
(5) Human
(6) Asura
(7) Animals
(8) Hungry Ghosts

Pureland is a place of existence afterlife.
Pureland is a Mental State of Peace for Mental cultivation - in Samadhi Concentration on Amitabha Buddha and His Pureland.
Pureland will end and cease to exist when all sentinent beings that aspire to be born there has all been salvage into Final Enlightenment of Nirvana and all Bodhi Vows of Amitabha Buddha have been fulfilled.
Nirvana is not a place of Existence. It encompass the whole of Supramundane and Mundane Universe - where physical matters are immaterial which can appear in any form - be it a Big Black Hole, be it a SuperNova expansion of the Universe or contraction of the Universe.
What is important is Nirvana Mental Properties - that encompass 3 Universal Wholesome Values of - No-Self, Universal Compassion and Panna Wisdom. This is represented by a Dharma Wheel (that encompass the entire Universe regardless of its States - black hole, expanding Universe or contracting Universe or a demise Universe or its infinite birth, life, decay or demise).
Dharma Wheel of its core (depict no-self - black hole), spokes (depict infinite Compassion to liberate sentinent beings), rim of the wheel (depict panna wisdom – that prevent the arising of stray thoughts – no bad stray thoughts anchor in Ignorance of Universal Law, Greed, Hatred nor arising of good thoughts ----- thus no birth, no death, cessation of Sufferings ---- as no stray thoughts mean no 12 dependant origination of life, no vicious cycle of birth, life, sickness and death).
Nirvana has dualistic states of nama, rupa - mental and physical properties. This is similar to properties of mundane Universe – cosmic properties plus living things.
But Nirvana is anchor on 3 wholesome properties of No-Self, Universal Compassion and Panna Wisdom.
Where mundane Universe living things are anchor on 3 inherent evil roots of Ignorance of Universal Law, Greed and Hatred.
Death need not occur to experience Nirvana. A living person can experience Nirvana when he is alive. But PariNirvana can only be experience when the person who experience Nirvana passed away.
Death need not occur to experience Pureland. A living person can experience Pureland when he is alive. But physical Pureland of existence with Amitabha Buddha can only be experience when a person who attained Samadhi Jhana of Amitabha Buddha passed away.
So is Nirvana real? Yes for those who attain and experience Nirvana.
So is Pureland real? Yes for those who attain Samadhi Jhana of Purelanad on Amitabha Buddha.
Only those who experience Nirvana and Pureland – truly understand Nirvana and Pureland exist.
Those who do not experience Nirvana and Pureland – read it in the sutra.
Those who do not experience and do not believe in Nirvana and Pureland – do not believe what the sutra say and simply dismiss it as fairy tale.
But many who see monks, nuns and layperson – attained body sariras for hundred years, thousands of years without rotting. And who see Sakyamuni Buddha sariras and many of his attained disciples Arahat sariras ------ will somehow feel holiness in the Divinity.

To experience Pureland, all the person need is practice Samadhi Jhana (1 pointedness concentration of Amitabha Buddha and His Pureland).
To experience Nirvana, a person need to practice Samadhi Jhana and Vipassana Insight Meditation - to see the true nature of the Universe from seeing all the mental aggregates and the physical phenomenon of self - that will extrapolate to finally seeing the Universal mental phenomenon of the Universe.

Where all religions except Buddhism see 1 Heavens ---- Buddhism see and experience 3 main types of Heavenly realms.
(1) Sensual Desire Heavenly Realms
(2) Form Heavenly Realms
(3) Formless Heavenly Realms
where all religions believe in 1 hell, Buddhism see and experience Hungry Ghosts realms and many Hells (too many, countless) - but Abidharmma as seen by Buddha see 168 realms.
But truly Avici Hell if you see is maxim intense pain - where every single cell of a Hell Beings suffer the maximum pain and sufferings - so intense - that the Hell Beings will definitely regret and repent...... as the Hell being is conscious & will not faint unlike Human when the Hell being undergo the Sufferings.
Thus IS caliphate leaders - be careful what you do........ you have yet to experience such sufferings yet when you are committing such grave atrocities.

So do we need to read holy books to experience Nirvana and Pureland?
Some say yes, some say no.
Those who experienced it need not read holy books or specifically sutra. Such people understand it through experience.
Those who read holy books or sutra understand them based on what it was described in the holy books or sutra.
Those who do not believe in Nirvana and Pureland and other realms - including Heavenly realms or Paranormal realms such as Hungry Ghosts or Hell realms - because simply they have not experienced it and believe they are fairy tale.

How does sentinent beings "awaken"?
Some see an Enlightened Being - and become Awaken.
Some see and hear the discourse of an Enlightened Being - and become Awaken.
Some see a scenario or event or an incident - and become Awaken.
Some do good - and become Awaken.
Some read the holy books - and become Awaken.
When all the "Factors of Enlightenment" come together in Equilibrium - the sentinent being will be ready for Awakening.
The sentinent being need not be a Buddhist to become Awaken.
The sentinent being can be a non-believer, a Christian, a Muslim, a Hindu, a Taoist etc.
The sentinent being can be a man, a woman, a child, an adult, a sane or an unsound mind, an intelligent man or a man of lower intellectual.
