[11:13 am, 13/09/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

In an update on the Covid-19 situation on Friday (Sept 10), the MTF noted that the next two to four weeks will be crucial in terms of whether higher infection numbers will lead to more serious cases and deaths. Minister Lawrence Wong said while there is no need to return to stricter measures, it is also not prudent for the country to press ahead with further reopening measures.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) on 10 Sep noted that the number of daily cases reported has risen from an average of 76 cases a fortnight ago to 288 cases in the past week. This is expected to rise to more than 1,000 cases a day soon due to intensified testing. Minister Ong Ye Kung said Singapore is likely to see cases increase exponentially, potentially hitting a peak of around 3,000 before it begins to stabilise, depending on Singaporeans’ collective actions. He said that the MTF wants to live with Covid-19 with two main objectives in mind: to have as few deaths here as possible, and avoid entering a long, hard lockdown.

💬 What are your thoughts on the latest series of measures announced, as Singapore continues to push for higher vaccine coverage and steps up nationwide testing.

Recent measures that were announced :

1. Updated treatment protocol

The home recovery programme for fully vaccinated people will be expanded from 15 Sep to people aged 50 or younger who have no significant underlying illnesses, to ensure that Singapore's healthcare system can cope with the current level of infections.

2. Shorter quarantine period

From 13 Sep, the current quarantine period of 14 days will be reduced to 10 because the Delta variant has a shorter incubation period.

3. Booster shot programme to start this week

Seniors aged 60 years and above and residents of aged-care facilities, as well as immunocompromised persons, will be invited to sign up for their booster dose of an mRNA vaccine from 14 Sep onwards, provided they have completed their two-dose vaccination regimen at least six months ago.

4. Beefing up ICU beds and deferring non-urgent clinical services

The MTF said that hospitals in Singapore have been instructed to defer all non-urgent elective clinical services and to start preparing to have more ICU beds for Covid-19 amid a rise in cases. Minister Ong Ye Kung reiterated that Singapore can go up to 1,000 ICU beds if needed, while Minister Gan Kim Yong added that ramping up ICU beds for Covid-19 would involve converting existing beds and deferring elective clinical services so hospital resources can be focused on dealing with coronavirus cases.

5. Keeping schools safe

On 13 Sep, Minister Chan Chun Sing posted on Facebook that all primary school pupils will be given three ART kits from today, as they return from their September holiday break. Minister said this is part of a four-pronged approach to keep schools safe, which also includes keeping children at home if they are unwell, safe management measures in schools, and ring-fencing known Covid-19 cases and contacts. He encouraged all families to help students do a self-test at home this week, and familiarise themselves with the procedure.

[11:32 am, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: No. 2, can ensure they are caught with Delta variant, then can go home after 10 days?

[11:33 am, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Not enough measures and considerations.

No. 1 Updated treatment protocol: For home recovery, what happen to those parents whose children are sent to recover at home? Are the parents issued with SHN / QO at home with mandatory WFH and their employers cannot penalise them for having SHN / QO and employers cannot force them to WIO?

No. 2 Shorter Quarantine Period: There are still other strains and variants of Covid out there which can incubate up to 21 days. This should still stay as 14 days.

No. 3 Booster shot programme: I agree with this. But then, are there considerations of side effects from the booster shots? Has it been ensured that all can take the booster shot?

No. 4 Beefing up ICU beds and deferring non-urgent clinical services: Is it possible for part of those non-urgent clinical services to be delegated to GPs? Perhaps MOH can work out something in this manner instead?

No. 5 Keeping schools safe: Why only primary school students? How about child care centres and preschools? These groups are also high risk groups.

Said before, when cases rise, serious cases rise proportionately.

My comments:-

Yes. Fully agree.

That's why when serous cases rises, we must adjust our measures up or down while we need to keep up vaccination to reach 100% vaccination.

S'pore should make Covid-19 vaccination mandatory, so measures can ease for everyone.

Eventually, large swathes of the population, whether vaccinated or not, will likely encounter the coronavirus.

[0:11 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Straits Times (12Sep2021)

It is the estimated 500,000 people who are eligible but have chosen not to get vaccinated who are threatening the healthcare system.

They are more likely to need hospital care, if infected. If this leads to more postponement of treatment for people with other health problems, then their choice also impacts the health of others.

So it is the unvaccinated people who hold the key to how fast Singapore can open up.

As Mr Ong said: "To go through this experience differently from other countries, (with) as few deaths as possible without a prolonged hard lockdown, the key is vaccination."

Perhaps it is time the Government mandates vaccination for all who are medically eligible for it.

The argument against doing so is that none of the vaccines have received normal approval. They have been approved only under pandemic conditions.

However, millions of people here, and hundreds of millions globally, have been vaccinated, with very low rates of adverse reactions.

[0:11 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Straits Times (12Sep2021)

Previously, there were people who feared the novel messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) Covid-19 vaccines used in the national programme. But there are now other options, such as Sinovac which uses more traditional vaccine methods. It is timely to rethink this issue.

Mandatory vaccination is not a new concept. That was largely how the world eradicated smallpox.

In Singapore, it is legally required for children to be vaccinated against diphtheria and measles.

If the Government takes over control of this key that Mr Ong mentioned, then the lock on the economy and people's lives can be opened sooner.

[0:26 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: We will hv to wait till the stocks of Sinovac arrive later this month,  to see further take up rate of vax.

Also,  personally,  I know of several ppl who r waiting for the Novavax to arr in Nov.

Until then, we will not achieve the full 100% vax tt u r advocating for.

😉

[0:27 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

MOH Ong Ye Kung also persuading pregnant women to vaccinate.

[0:28 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

106 in hospitals are aged 60 years and above.

Many unvaccinated.

[0:29 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In fact, government should consider taming the current infection number first.

Then get the remaining 1.2 million unvaccinated people vaccinated - before doing the above.

Else it will go out of control - and will be difficult to reverse.

In fact, the trend it seems to be going out of control already - judging by the 3 digits jump in infection.

[0:30 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Also,  at this point,  I dun think it's nec to call for mandatory vax.

Ther r ppl who wish to get vax, just not w Pfizer nor Moderna.

Therefore, the gov shd also look at the no. of ppl who hv signed up to take the alternative vaccines & take tt into account.

Of course, at this point, we also dun know how many out ther will opt for Novavax.

So, figure-wise,  it is still not tt accurate,  but definitely no need to make vax mandatory.

[0:31 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Agree.

Tame the infections first.

Prep for future...

[0:32 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Then we cannot open up fully as long as 100% not vaccinated.

Because unvaccinated people will tend to overwhelm the hospitals.

[0:34 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Goes without saying.  😅

I dun think we shd open up fully yet until we hv most of this situation under control.

Opening gradually is fine, as I do understand tt our economy needs to move.

[0:34 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Right now,  we also nd to look at the taking care of the young ones who cannot be vax.

[0:35 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If the serious cases spike, then a reverse stept - lockdown again could happen.

[0:36 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Most serious illness and death are the elderly not the young ones.

The one that overwhelm the ICU, hospitals and the oxygen support - are the unvaccinated or partially vaccinated elderly.

[0:36 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: I m sure many parents out there share the same concerns.

Wonder if ther r any such ppl here in this grp.

[0:42 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Problem is ppl r getting lax.

It takes everyone to co operate & keep those ard us safe.

Of late, I see ppl wearing their masks improperly again (like just below their noses),  or not wearing at all.

Ppl chatting & catching up in public places without masks on,  after eating.

The list goes on...

Wat shd be mandatory is to hv someone enforce the rule of mask wearing when in public.

Dun get me wrong.

I'm equally tired of doing tt,  but hey!  In the interests of our fellow beings,  we shd be considerate enuff to keep everyone else safe, not to mention our very own selves!

[0:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Rama: Yes

[0:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Unfortunately my baby is born in May. If not i would have gone for vac before giving birth so at least she has antibodies when she is born. 😫

[0:44 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Me 🙋🏻‍♀️

[0:45 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Below 11 years old to 6 months vaccines under trial will likely to be ready end of this year.

[0:45 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I am waiting for this lol... haha

[0:45 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: If not I also don't dare bring her go to areas with more people

[0:46 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

11 years to 5 years - 1/3 of adult dose.

4 years to 6 months - 1/10 of adult dose.

[0:46 pm, 13/09/2021] +Angelica: I think it is a good move to move up vaccination and testing.

Although testing requirements might need to be more comprehensive.

E.g. currently national athletes selected for Sea games need to be tested once a week to train in a group. However untested athletes that were not selected are training with the same regulations as those being tested weekly. I don't see why only a group of athletes are being tested and not all national senior/junior athletes who train regularly since the government seems it so 'high risk'.

Does the shorter quarantine period affect travellers as well?

[0:46 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: If end of year it will be just nice she reach 6 mths... 😄

[0:47 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: But not sure if they will open up vac for 6 mths old infants yet

[0:47 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: And they should also cover for vac side effects too.

[0:47 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Amendment 11 years to 5 years - approve in US FDA end of September.

4 years to 6 months - end Dec 2021.

[0:47 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: 👍🏻

[0:48 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: But sg haven't approved....

[0:48 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Now my entire household only my baby not vac.

[0:48 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore normally approve 2 to 3 days after US FDA approval.

[0:48 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Hope so ba

[0:49 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Meanwhile can there be measures taken for these 2 separate groups of high risk children?it is not they dun want to be vaccinated. It is can't be vac at the moment.

[0:49 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Zzz

[0:54 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

[1:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Wah

[1:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Some said we should take other type one.

[1:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Like SARS vaccine or inactivated virus

[1:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Since we took mRNA liao

[1:14 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

There's a difference between preventing infection and protection.

1. mRNA vaccines initially good in preventing infection - but Delta change it.

2. But the vaccines very good in protection - from serious illness or death.

Those who got the 2 shots got anti-bodies, B cell and T cell to protect them for very long except preventing infection wane.

[1:15 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/world/covid-19-vaccines-ending-pandemic-who-doubtful-variants-2169896

WHO more doubtful about vaccines ending COVID-19 pandemic.

High vaccination rates are necessary "to unload the pressure from healthcare systems" that desperately need to treat other diseases pushed to the backburner by COVID-19.

"I think it brings us to the point that the aim of a vaccination is first and foremost to prevent more serious disease, and that's mortality," he said.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/covid-booster-jabs-unnecessary-most-223148982.html

Covid booster jabs are unnecessary for most people, Oxford vaccine professor Dame Sarah Gilbert says.

[1:16 pm, 13/09/2021] +CQ: Despite that, booster programmes are in the pipeline

[1:18 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Elderly are the most vulnerable to succumb to serious illness or death.

2. Thus failure to fully vaccinate them don't make sense.

3. Because they will overwhelm the hospitals. They will also prevent economy from opening - as hospitalisation come under pressure, and many other treatments cannot materialize.

[1:18 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Booster programme are only for the immunocompromised and elderly where the anti-bodies diminished.

Not for the population at large.

[1:20 pm, 13/09/2021] +CQ: For now lah. Min Ong has already said to expect boosters next year

[1:20 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

The current high hospitalisation number come from the elderly.

So if we don't take stronger measures to vaccinate them, then how to solve the root cause of the problem in keeping hospitalisation down and transit to endemic?

[1:22 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Booster data for population at large not clear, WHO and many health authorities also say more study needed.

But data is clear for immunocompromised and elderly.

[1:27 pm, 13/09/2021] +REACH: Increased Covid-19 vaccination efforts in the region should boost economic activity in coming quarters, says Iswaran

Regional economies are ramping up their Covid-19 vaccination efforts, which should facilitate the resumption of higher economic activity in the coming quarters, said Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations S. Iswaran on Monday (Sept 13).

More: https://str.sg/3STn

[1:30 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: This is a good news if the regional counterparts can execute dutifully it might signal the way to a new way to combat the virus instead of individual effort to open up economy

[1:36 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: My baby is taking fm instead due to sensitivity issues. 😥

[1:38 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: Those who passed 2 yo less than 5 yo may wean off milk as well.. so they also may not get antibodies

[1:43 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: 🤷

[1:44 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Balance between endemic (living with the virus) to keep Economy going and lockdown (to keep the infection number and hospitalisation down).

1. As my close friend say :- the higher the infection number, there weill be a proportionate increase in hospitalisation, serious cases, or death.

2. The recent 100 cases jump per day reveal this truth. From a low double digits - to 100 digits jump per day to 520 yesterday.

Hospitalisation jump from 580 to 780 from a week ago, 2,000 people in community care, a few more unvaccinated/partially vaccinated elderly death. And serious cases increase from 35 to 54 cases just a week ago.

This put hospitals under increasing stress, and government have to set aside hospital beds and even tell patients of less serious illness not to go hospitals.

3. The only way to keep hospitalisation number down, keep serious illness or death down ---- is to vaccinate the elderly that form a large proportion of patients hospitalised.

Those who succumb to serious illness or death - are the unvaccinated elderly.

4. Only if government adopt stronger stance to vaccinate the elderly - can we keep hospitalisation number down ----- and can keep Economy going and live with the virus in endemic.

Else if the hospitals are overwhelm, lockdown may happen instead of transiting to endemic.

570,000 elderly and adults are not vaccinated ---- a very sizeable population - will put tremendous strain on our hospital resources - and I wonder how long Singapore can sustain the stress of periodic lockdown?

Manadatory vaccination solve this root cause of preventing Singapore from going endemic.

5. If not we will have to face the following reality :-

a. More infection, hospitalisation number increases, serious illness increase, death increase

b. More lockdown - business, jobs and Eonomy suffer.

--- or Mandate Vaccination to all eligible Elderly and adults --- and transit endemic to live with the virus - as hospitalisation, serious cases or death will be controlled and kept in check.

I choose Mandatory Vaccination - to achieve the target of 100% vaccination.

[1:56 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

And health experts say - a sizeable Vaccinated and unvaccinated people will encounter covid when we open for endemic.

Now we see the number going up uncontrollably.

So why hesitate to take stronger stance to vaccinate?

[1:56 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Your views noted,  Danny.

However,  I agree to disagree.

I hv just recently completed my 2 doses of vax.

I m also in the elderly age bracket.

Prior to getting vax, I had several concerns.  Apart from my allergies to certain food, medicines, etc.,  my main concern was how my body would react if I did get vax.

One of my allergic reactions was inability to breathe.

Having bn thru tt 2x - where in that split sec as u struggle to breathe & your last thots start flashing thru yr brain - I wud not hv wanted to go thru tt again.

Therefore, coming fr tt, I emphasise W those who cannot or will not vax for such reasons.

Fear is a powerful thing.

Therefore, it is not 'right' to impose on anyone that they should get vax,  for the many reasons why a person shd not do so either.

We shd still keep the right to choose.

Find another way to convince this grp of 'nay-doers' .

After all, it is my body. .. Wat I do w it is up to me.

As for my age grp...  Live & let live!

I'm alredi heading towards the end of my lifespan on this earth...  😅 ... We all gotta die some day...

... Just not to hasten it with a decision made for me,  rather than by me.

If u get wat I mean. 😉

[2:00 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

What you are going through is what many current unvaccinated elderly going through.

I spoke to many elderly and their families members.

Many of the elderly family members also cannot convince their elderly to vaccinate.

This is the hardest part of convincing elderly to vaccinate.

I run out of ideas already short of mandatory vaccination.

[2:02 pm, 13/09/2021] +Wilson Loo: Actually if I may ask (curious from an elderly perspective)

1. If you didn't vaccinate, would you be okay if medical services are not prioritized for you if you got Covid and may be in dire need of medical attention (not on purpose but cos other medical needs also require attention)?

2. If you did not vaccinate, would you be okay to pay more for medical costs due to Covid-related treatment?

3. If you're unvaccinated would you support or at least not be against any loosening of Covid-related economic restrictions?

4. If you didn't vaccinate but fell severely ill from Covid, would you blame the Government for say reopening or loosening restrictions?

I'm wondering cos I feel we have not considered what are the trade offs and what the elderly really mind or don't mind

[2:03 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Lol.

Let's hear wat suggestions the others hv on convincing the 'nay-doers' , other than making it mandatory.

Btw, making it mandatory cud push up the suicide rate?  as it wud be even more traumatic for them...  😟

[2:03 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

And I can tell you many of the elderly family members are anxious and worry for the elderly in case they got infected.

The stress that have to be endured by the family members are no less - when we see the infection number, hospitalisation number, serious illness and death keep going up.

[2:04 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: I remember the 4 weeks it took me to convince myself to go get my 1st vax.

And even tho it didn't turn out bad,  I was even more anxious b4 my 2nd dose, having read all the info abt its after effects on various ppl.

Thankfully,  tt is all water under the bridge now....  🤣

[2:05 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: It is a conundrum indeed!

[2:10 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If soft approach works I won't insist on mandatory vaccination.

But now the vaccination plateau and many elderly still hesitating.

But hospitalisation keep going up.

It is between a rock and a hard place.

[2:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +jimmy chew: I agree with you. I believe most want to be vaccinated. There are reasons they're not doing. I am sure they are taking all precautions to not have the covid or Delta variant

[2:11 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Maybe form a self-help grp of like-minded ppl / peers who hv bravely taken the vax & hv them talk to the 'nay-doers' , provide a sort of outlet for the 'nay-doers' (n family members)  to vent their doubts, fears,  frustrations,  etc.

Altho slow,  but even if one or two end up being convinced,  tt is reward in itself?

[2:12 pm, 13/09/2021] +jimmy chew: I think the government did  Right by giving us a choice. It's their body we have no right to force them

[2:12 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

And the worst thing is the moment we go endemic, more people will get infected and fall like cards.

Our runway very short.

[2:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Language / communication may also be stumbling block.

Not everyone in the affected grp speaks English nor uses social media.

[2:14 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: I dun think having local celebs appear on social media n speaking in dialect is effective,  for tt reason...  Some of the elderly dun even use hp....  ?

[2:18 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: Perhaps get local celebs to volunteer house calls or sth like tt?

I mean,  if u can bring the vax to the candidate, why not get his/her fav local celeb to hv a chit chat session 1-1 , just to update the candidate abt the shots. Maybe accompanied by a  healthcare pro to answer any other medical related questions ?

[2:19 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: did suggest before why not allow these seniors folks to have a complete health check

[2:19 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: allow them to understand their health conditions at the same time while convincing them for the jab

[2:20 pm, 13/09/2021] +Rama: Worth a shot!?

[2:20 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: some seniors might not even have a real and complete heath check for years

[2:20 pm, 13/09/2021] +Rama: À real possibility

[2:20 pm, 13/09/2021] +RH: 👍🏻

[2:21 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: is a win win situation for their target to be hit / and for eligible seniors to get vaccination and word will spread if the reults is positive

[2:22 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: even if not positive at least the senior now know their state of health which will guide them on their remaining yr on what to do and not what to do

The runway to vaccinate is very short....

[2:33 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: which raise a very good query

[2:33 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: minus vaccine now ...

[2:34 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: given the high rate of street infection ....

[2:34 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: art?

[2:35 pm, 13/09/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

People can wait.

Virus don't wait.

Every day infection number, hospitalisation number keep going up - because we keep giving the people notion the liberty to vaccinate or not.

This is a public health safety - a collective crisis that affect everyone - not an individual choice.

[2:36 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I have been asking that since gov announce to transit to endemic.

[2:36 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: series how can it be a endemic when varaints keep poping out every 3-4 tmhs

[2:37 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: worst some are already treating C19 as a flu already

[2:37 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: and seriously i agree with you whats the direction

[2:37 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: with last week number we are already over the 1k mark

[2:38 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: i think this is legit because unless the pri and sec students toddlers and pre schoolers needs alot of interfaction and movements...

[2:39 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: what's or is there even a trashhold where it will trigger the breaker for this sector ......

[2:39 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I alr been saying we should not transit to endemic unless vac is available for infants and young children...

[2:39 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: yes is going to affect thousand of parents and the preschool industry

[2:39 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: to have a vac is one way to look at it

[2:41 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: next ball rolling question is how many will go for the vac given WHO have question on the approach of the current situation by different countries

[2:41 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: den we will go into another question of no vacc shoudl be mandatory for babies and toddlers

[2:41 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: no vacc should be made subjective for babies and toddlers

[2:42 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: the basis of this virus is social miggling

[2:42 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: and like WHO mentioned as long as 1 country or 1  person on this earth is not vacc (not mandatory here)

[2:42 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I doubt completely stopping social mingling is possible

[2:42 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: there is a good chance still c19 will not end

[2:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: so the apporach is to hekp each countries to get their first should

[2:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I agree with mandatory vac for those eligible. Those not eligible let them have ineligible for vac status.

[2:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Elena Woo: I doubt it will end.

[2:43 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: to lessen the opportunity for the host to mutate

[2:44 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: this i too had suggested before because it is true some cannot vacc

[2:44 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: but just because they have legit reason not to vacc society treat them as cast away

[2:44 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: ooo so that's how sigapore and the world is going to be

[2:45 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: no why should we follow the wrong doing or things which we cannot agree ...

[2:45 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: have faith it will not end but at least let there be ability's to control the damage it can

[2:46 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: impt now is country are racing itself and maybe against each other to open up economy

[2:46 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: but they forget to see in todays world everything is link

[2:46 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: country S 90% vacc

[2:47 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: but if country M , country I, country T, country B and C are not even 60% or 80% vacc

[2:47 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: can country S gurantee they will say as a happy vacc nation? for months to come? can it guarantee the variant will not touch shore and create waves of infection again

[2:48 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: thus in a way i agree with WHO .. countries must stop running their own show, gather together and fight on a common ground and direction ....

[2:50 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: for this i am happy to see certain countries like Singapore and China helping the same direction (leave poltics out for time being) and regardless if china vaccination sucks at least they are dumping loads into poorer countries .... for that 1st jab opportunity .....

[2:50 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: those that says dun take china vacc is because you got an option but in poor countries there is no option is ppl give what they take wat .....

[2:58 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: We have no option but to require Vaccination for all unless medically unfit.

[2:59 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: This has to go beyond personal choice, unless those people are OK to stay home.

[2:59 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: ie not allowed out unless vaccinated.

[2:59 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: 1st Jab requirement.

[3:04 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: till we can get over this stage of NOT discriminating the vaccine on medical grounds think the argument will go on .....

[3:04 pm, 13/09/2021] +CQ: lol! you overestimate our desire to leave the house!! if there's someone i don't want to meet who jio me out, i will have no qualms saying "sorry, not vaxxed!" as an excuse not to meet up. :P

*btw i'm fully vaxxed, before anyone starts slamming

[3:04 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: which will also bring back to the point HOW is the process going to be to qualify those not able to vaccine (keep put the toddlers and preschoolers )

[3:05 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: and leave out those stubborn who dun wan to vaccine (tackle one aspect at a time)

[3:07 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: one suggestion i have under such current situation for toddlers and pre schoolers maybe go alternate school days maybe

[3:07 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: might be a pain for parents

[3:07 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: but it reduces the chances of the kids being expose (provided the household dun anyhow go out )

[3:07 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: 😁

[3:08 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: Medical Conditions.

[3:08 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Then WFH need to be default

[3:08 pm, 13/09/2021] +CQ: there are some people who are happy to disconnect, and honestly if they want to stay that way, then so be it lah. it's irritating for their friends and family, but it's their choice how they want to lead their lives. pretty sure some of them would be happy if they get shipped off to like Pulau Ubin or something.... (at least i know my friend is one of those)

[3:09 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: which brings the point who will provide such resources ... espically for the seniors (since this is the targeting group now)

[3:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: den again have to address the bloody cries form business

[3:10 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: Everyone has a medical record which would show potential problems. ie Heart Condition.

[3:11 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: if at this stage we still cannot see how interlink a society is we will keep going round and round in circle like a dog chasing itse own tail

[3:11 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: that's on best case but in reality many do not know ...

[3:11 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: espically the senior ....

[3:11 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: thus will it not be good if there is an avenue to offer them full health checkup before qualifying them for a jab ?

[3:12 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: we cover one hole another hole will be expose

[3:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: as the society here is thinks.. every hole must be cover up by the authorities , can't society do our part

[3:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: can't we be more corporative

[3:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +CQ: the sentiment now feels more like a "don't look at the hole and it won't be there".

[3:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: see how the mbs incident is .... refusal to listen to the fnb owner and even faulted the sda ?

[3:13 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: True - good incentive as well to engage with the process.

[3:14 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: trying to skim past every guidelines put up for our own purpose ....

[3:14 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: thus sometimes i pity the brains also cos they think till their brain juice also dry but cannot appease the society demands

[3:21 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: also besides focusing on the seniors, can MOH give the society some demo graphics of those infected / reinfected age group and areas which these infected are from .....

[3:22 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: it might sounds useless but to some these are some infomation to be looked at when going out and about

[3:23 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: Thought daily report got breakdown by age grp already?

[3:23 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: it might be worthy to let hdb blocks people know there are ppl in the block doing shn or recovery this will highten social measures like after they reach home will wash hands and feets derobe and have new cloting etc

[3:24 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ah Heng: have ahh i only see always xxx above 70 not vaccinated or xxx die of age 68 ... dun have things like 20-30 : x infected, 31-40: y infected

[3:25 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: U go see the full report

[3:26 pm, 13/09/2021] +Caleb: The virus is everywhere.... If we wait it to endemic,  personal hygiene shld be practiced all the time.

[3:29 pm, 13/09/2021] +Ben: Vaccine is proven to work, at the very least to reduce death, contagion and symptoms.

[3:53 pm, 13/09/2021] +Thomas: Continuous lockdown is not the solution. By the time lockdown and drive the case to Zero for a infectious virus. We will have no jobs to return to. Vaccinations and better treatment is the way forward and endemic. Hopefully, we get a cure and it’s over for endemic stage
