[11:01 am, 25/03/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

Singapore’s vaccination programme will now be expanded to those aged 45 to 59, more employees can return to workplaces and larger-scale activities can take place from April as part of the easing of Covid-19 restrictions with the improved situation locally.

💬 As Singapore further eases its COVID-19 measures including allowing more staff to return to office, will you be more inclined to take the vaccination? Why? or Why Not?

1️⃣ Vaccination expanded to residents aged 45 to 59 (can now register interest online)

2️⃣More employees (75%) can return to workplace (from April 5)

3️⃣More attendees for activities with pre-event Covid-19 testing (from April 24)

4️⃣Vaccinated individuals to get exemption from pre-event testing (from April 24).

5️⃣ More people allowed to attend wakes and funerals (from April 24)

6️⃣ Social gatherings remain capped at groups of 8

[11:08 am, 25/03/2021] +CQ: That's a strange phrasing of the question.. it reads like "would you vaccinate because you're now required to go back to office", to which the response would then be "why open up if majority are still not vaccinated?" Just be being picky about phrasing and semantics.... Good morning Megan!

[11:36 am, 25/03/2021] +Ken: Think most MNC same bah

[11:36 am, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Agreed with the phrasing of the question

[11:37 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: not true MNC are getting more relax in my experience. used to be many things block now due to the need for social media and collaboration platforms, many channels are open up

[11:37 am, 25/03/2021] +CQ: WA yes lah, FB and eshopping is a no for me. only during lunchtime lor

[11:37 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: govt related and civil serpents jobs den sorry lor u all stay within the cage

[11:38 am, 25/03/2021] +Ken: Lol they have separate computer for internet so no restriction for that computer

[11:38 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: cos even some companies have procurement process where staff can buy office or work related items from e-shopping

[11:38 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: so how to block

[11:38 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: the world have change

[11:39 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: management of technology usage have to change

[11:39 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: mindset have to change also

[11:40 am, 25/03/2021] +CQ: yah... mindset definitely has to change. companies need to be paying you a salary for your work output and not for your time

[11:41 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: but output forever they dun see de

[11:42 am, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: their output is usually who are the kaki with them ......

[11:43 am, 25/03/2021] +Leonard Lau: Most MNC has adjusted that for a long while . Hopefully our local SME follows . It is performance based rather seeing a person going to work

[11:43 am, 25/03/2021] +CQ: eh....? but strange wor, got output they don't see, but they're very aware if there's no output. :P

[11:43 am, 25/03/2021] +CQ: yep......

[11:55 am, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore can still have outbreak if we are not careful.

The only way to prevent such outbreak is to vaccinate ourselves.

[11:57 am, 25/03/2021] +Caleb: Maybe got to purchase for 2nd round, 2022.

Yearly vaccination

[0:07 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. As all covid vaccines are experimental drugs - my members will only choose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine for vaccination.

[0:07 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore is also evaluating AstraZeneca vaccine - the controversial vaccines that have been hitting the news.

It is also the vaccine that is approved for covax that is meant for worldwide distribution.

[0:08 pm, 25/03/2021] +Caleb: ALL hear u

[0:11 pm, 25/03/2021] +Elena Woo: Ya this i agree.

[0:24 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Hybrid working arrangement - working in office interpersed with working at home will be best.

2. Working at home when quiet time is needed that involves brain work will be best.

3. However when collaboration, meeting, discussion with colleagues and boss, onsite project management, meet clients are needed, then report to work is the best.

4. Office rental is wasted if no one report to work.

- it will also impact public transport business like bus, mrt, taxi, private hire.

- it will also impact eating place in working area, shopping vibrancy.

- forging people-to-people relationship.

5. If work at home become predominant, Singaporean can lose its competitiveness - because boss can hire overseas workers to replace Singaporean workers at cheaper labor salary.

6. Working in office that boost productivity that is not possible when working from home - is the best to secure boss confident that employing Singaporean that work onsite and at home - is a better option than employing foreign off-site workers.

[0:28 pm, 25/03/2021] +Boon: This is fab. And in Sg official languages! Thank you

[0:32 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. When politicians and diplomats are force to do virtual conferencing due to covid - I notice that the dynamic of meeting diplomatic objective is somehow lacking.

2. Hence we see our foreign minister flying to meet Brunei, Malaysia and Indonesia - and notice the body language, smile, and the dynamic of meeting diplomatic objective more solid.

3. Also China foreign diplomats meeting US diplomats in Alaska - can see the spark and fury body language - where diplomats can assess the unsay message accurately.

This has helped to make more engaging conversation in close door - that draw out areas of cooperation - that could have prevented full frontal confrontation.

4. On hindsight, I feel that through video conferencing, the close door meeting will have been missed if not for face to face meeting - that body language is picked up.

[0:35 pm, 25/03/2021] +REACH: https://www.facebook.com/gov.sg/videos/131132458944248/

[0:35 pm, 25/03/2021] +Kevinn Wang: Exactly

[0:42 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: To answer today's question.

No, going back to work doesn't make it more necessary to vaccinate for those who don't want to vaccinate. Those who want to vaccinate likely already volunteer or will appeal and sign up for it. Those that don't want will not and even going back to work in office won't change their mind. Why would they? Still wear mask and still can't travel, etc. There is no upside to taking the vaccine and no downside for NOT taking the vaccine apart from immunity which is intangible. In fact, news of ppl with vaccine and still getting infected with another covid strain is making these group of people wary of the vaccine.

My 2.14 cents

[0:43 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Many of transactions can be done online.

2. But I insist on meeting the business representatives in person, because some conversation, reading the representative body language can pick up many opportunities that is not possible online.

[0:53 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

3. Also the more people don't meet, the less business opportunities cannot be brainstorm, the less vibrant the economy will be.

4. Business, ideas come from human to human interaction and collaboration - online tools cannot fully replace human interaction.

5. To be honest, I pick up at least 30% opportunity while meeting face to face - which I will have miss if I conduct transaction online.

[1:14 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

US and West conflict with China is mainly due to failure to pick up many China unsay message.

Most of the time, they step on the tail of China that would have otherwise been avoided.

[1:14 pm, 25/03/2021] +Desmond Koh: So u r saying multiple countries vs China is wrong?

[1:15 pm, 25/03/2021] +Ben: https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/03/krispy-kreme-free-doughnut-antivaxxers.html

[1:15 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Different systems, different cultures, failure to emphatise.

[1:15 pm, 25/03/2021] +Ben: Side topic.... to encourage vaccinations. Lol

[1:18 pm, 25/03/2021] +Desmond Koh: That’s like saying the Developed world vs China n Russian vs Middle East vs Africa 😂

[1:21 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. I have worked with many China nationals.

2. I have worked with many Americans and Europeans.

3. And I can observed that when China nationals work with Americans the dynamic is very different.

They are very guarded

4. However when I work separately with either group, they are more relax, they open up, we even have more small talk and I attempt to being up some sensitive topic and they are willing to share their views.

5. The key is emphatise - able to understand their culture and express emphatetic.

[1:33 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Mai lah

[1:33 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Diabetes in a vaccine

[1:46 pm, 25/03/2021] +Caleb: eat one in a lifetime

[2:00 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Incidentally, I have also worked with middle East, some African countries, and even russian long time back.

2. You will be surprised that middle East countries are very advanced. They want the best products and services - as they are cash rich.

3. African countries are less demanding.

4. Russian are technically very sound.

[2:04 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In case someone has misconception about some developing countries.

1. I found some very good and technically sound engineer in Myanmar, Philippines, India, Vietnam, Pakistan.

So if developed countries think China and its partners can be run-over, then they are in for surprise.

[2:08 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore government are very smart where foundation is laid by our predecessor Mr LKY and his Cabinet.

Singapore work with all Countries in the world and is able to emphatise with everyone.

This is soft power - that even superpowers is unmatched.

Mr LKY say, we can punch above our weight - not because we are big, not because we are rich, not because we are powerful.

It is because of our soft power, our ability to emphatse, our ability to work with anyone and our ability to work out mutual benefits with everyone.

[2:14 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If Americans start on this perspective with China, I can guarantee that China will reciprocate.

And all the current US-China geopolitical tension and world problems will be resolved instantly.

[2:16 pm, 25/03/2021] +Rama: In Singapore!?

[2:24 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

America if emulate what Henry Kissinger do - geopolitical tension will instantly be released.

[2:25 pm, 25/03/2021] +Ben: lol, no US! I don't think CK will do the same here. Probably a good thing, considering the diabetes and obesity risks!

[2:31 pm, 25/03/2021] +Kevin: These people really low IQ

[2:32 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: What you mean once in lifetime? They allow all those who vaccine to eat one free donut everyday for 2021!!!

[2:33 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Not diabetes meh? Lol

[2:58 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Else, if only work at home:-

1. Office property market impacted.

2. Air travel impacted.

3. Public transport like bus, mrt, taxi, private hire business impacted.

4. F&B in CBD areas impacted.

5. Shopping retailers in CBD areas impacted.

6. Business travelers coming to Singapore impacted.

7. Banks in CBD areas impacted.

Then demultipiers effects on our economy - and we can't achieve a V-shape economic recovery.

[5:14 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

CNA news show videos in Xinjiang - the so call large detention center are schools, training centres, factories where Uigur study, train and work in it.

Wonder how the genocide claim comes about?

Is there other things that the West know that we don't know?

[5:17 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In fact I saw a video of detention center for migrants in US under Trump - where children are separated from their parents.

That one really look like a detention center.

[5:19 pm, 25/03/2021] +YT: The bottomline is, don't believe anything you see or read on the internet.

[5:22 pm, 25/03/2021] +Rama: Western media crap!

[5:25 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: very good

[5:25 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: hope this translates to employees able to retain their jobs and employers getting relief

[5:26 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: but i'm a bit scared once other sectors no longer get the JSS this year

[5:32 pm, 25/03/2021] +Ben: 😂

[5:33 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Can stop with the China this China that propaganda crap everyday or not?

[5:33 pm, 25/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: sick and tired of the monologue seriously

[5:44 pm, 25/03/2021] +Leonard Lau: @+65 6336 7926 is this a right forum to discuss foreign affairs ?

[6:30 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Wonder does REACH has an open forum to discuss any important issues eg. Foreign affairs that need immediate attention?

2. Eg. CNA online news previously open up for online comments.

3. Yahoo Singapore and foreign news also open up for comments.

4. But now both CNA online news and Yahoo online news no longer allow for comments.

5. I recall in one last emergency Asia Pacific event, US are sending 3 stealth nuclear bombers to test run bombing of NKorea.

6. The Yahoo and CNA open forum helps.

7. NKorea and Trump pull back just in the nick of time - and averted a near nuclear attack.

8. Finally they decided to come to Singapore and choose sentosa for peace talk - as I suggested as sentosa is a nice place for talk as it is a resort and have golf.

Trump like it.

[6:48 pm, 25/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. At that time, our government offer Shangri-la because we have just completed our defence security forum here - and the security is in place.

2. However trump decided to pick sentosa after seeing my suggestion.

[6:50 pm, 25/03/2021] +REACH: Dear Contributors,

Trump on the verge of nuking NKorea with 80 nuclear bombs previously - each nuclear bomb 10 times more powerful than the atomic bomb drop in Japan.
If NKorea leader didn't pull back in the nick of time - the whole Asia Pacific region will now cover with nuclear cloud - a human calamity.
And we will now be bombarded by nuclear radiation - dying slowly from cancer.
