The Moderna Covid-19 vaccine will be administered at four new vaccination centres here starting on Wednesday (March 17), the Ministry of Health has announced.

💬 Have you or your family taken the vaccine - what was your experience? How can we encourage the community to take up the vaccine when they are eligible?

All other vaccination centres here, as well as polyclinics and selected Public Health Preparedness Clinics, will continue to offer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. MOH said that the Moderna vaccine will be available at more vaccination centres as more supplies arrive.

[11:05 am, 17/03/2021] +Nat: This one at nex which entrance? The one facing Serangoon Central? Entered through North East Line entrance only one guard standing there but he's not in-charge of ensuring people scan the SE, let alone in-charge of scanning the QR code on TTokens

Of the many places I went to today, only one mall has a staff there who can scan the TToken and the rest are just loopholes

I still think the supply side (facilities that accept the TToken for SE) of things still isn't there as the TTakeup rate increases

[11:07 am, 17/03/2021] +Ben: Be great when they implement NFC so we don't have to unlock the phone and open the app.

[11:27 am, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: coffeeshops need to put more notices on scanning of QR code

[11:27 am, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: or have this device too

[11:27 am, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: since GOv keep saying eating is high risk as we are unmask

[11:43 am, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: I've taken the vaccine first dose and scheduled to take second dose next week.

1) Experience is good, very smooth and simple. My injection site is at T4 though so I'm not sure if the CC ones will have similar experience.

2) Remember the ERP acronym I mentioned yesterday? Encourage by letting those who want the vaccine to go for it and don't restrict them. People will tell each other when they are vaccinated and social pressure will influence those who haven't taken the vaccine to get theirs too.

3) ERP also have the reward portion. Maybe a shirt or something that you can wear out that says you've vaccinated. It's not so much reward but something unique that you only get after you have vaccinated and indirectly also advertising to others to get vaccinated.

My 2.14 cents

[11:45 am, 17/03/2021] +jimmy chew: Intesting number 2.14 you added gst

[11:45 am, 17/03/2021] +Nat: You not new lor, he has been using this joke for quite sometime liao

[11:46 am, 17/03/2021] +jimmy chew: Haha Yeah didn't realise the significance

[11:47 am, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: 2.18 next year liao

Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to start being administered at four new vaccination centres

The Moderna Covid-19 vaccine will be administered at four new vaccination centres here, the Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (March 16).

These are: Hong Kah North Community Club, Marsiling Community Club, Punggol 21 Community Club and Radin Mas Community Club.

All other vaccination centres here, as well as polyclinics and selected Public Health Preparedness Clinics, will continue to offer the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

More: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/moderna-covid-19-vaccine-to-start-being-administered-at-four-new-vaccination

Good to know that there's clarity on which vaccination center offer which vaccines.

Those who want Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine can now register with those center that offer Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Those who don't mind moderna vaccines can register with vaccination center that offer moderna vaccines.

Then people have less worry whether they will be given the vaccines they want.

[0:03 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: On a sidetrack on our Passport.

With now on going green and all, can we have a cheaper option to have lesser pages when we do a new passport?

Don't think many ppl will use finish all the pages before it is being expire.

[0:04 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In other words, now people have a choice.

People can choose which vaccines they want.

[0:06 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

 https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/china-to-issue-visas-to-foreigners-who-have-taken-chinese-covid-19-jab

This one detrimental to Singapore.

China will only issue visa to those who take China vaccines - before allowing visiting China.

This become a vaccine nationalism.

[0:09 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Then if want to go china and usa. Need china and usa jabs?

[0:09 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Lighter to carry around also, when traveling. 🤣

[0:13 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

It will not be a scenario where, after all Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine are given out first, and then left with Moderna vaccines - then allocate to those younger people who have no choice.

Now with each vaccine center allocated with different vaccines and make clear to public, people have a choice to choose which vaccines they want.

[0:14 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Then got to ask WHO, China for clarity.

[0:16 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Is this vaccination to curb virus pandemic - a diplomatic nationalism exercise or is it a genuine humanity effort to curb the pandemic?

[0:16 pm, 17/03/2021] +An fan: Very scary when you see such pictures on the internet

[0:17 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: cannot lah bro, some countries dun have digital system for their immigration

[0:17 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: I mean lesser pages for overseas chop

[0:17 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: With now many countries also don't chop when exit. Because using eGate

[0:19 pm, 17/03/2021] +An fan: This was from Weibo

[0:20 pm, 17/03/2021] +An fan: Now already removed

[0:20 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: possible if the new passports come with less pages

[0:20 pm, 17/03/2021] +Rama: With a digital passport and vaccination certificate on our mobile phone, how can our diplomatic missions overseas help should we loose our mobile phone while out of the country?

[0:21 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: I talking about physical passport. With lesser visa pages

[0:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +CQ: there was once (can't remember which country), the immigration officer flip flip flip flip, couldn't find the "out" chop because of the eGate. i nearly kena hauled off to the side room. skinny chinese girl in an angmoh country some more, scared die me sia.

[0:30 pm, 17/03/2021] +Smiley face: American is leading in the global covid vaccines supply chain.

With the QUAD initiatives, the likely world top three covid vaccines companies by ranking are :

1) Pfizer

2) Johnson & Johnson

3) Modena

This is an example of "America First" strategy and Unfair Advantage too...

Going forward, this multilateral vaccine diplomacy will stretch to travel discrimination over type of Vaccines implemented country to country. It is beyond the calling of the United Nation!

The QUAD population combined is more than China's 1.4 billion. The purchasing power of the QUAD is higher compared to the Chinese!

Biden's idea of America's competitiveness is showing shape and form in the latest QUAD summit!

America's strategy of Alliance and Economics/Technologies/Military Suffocation

China's strategy of Dominance through Economics Dependancy

Both strategies, one winner, comes a zero sum ending!

The key in Asean is Singapore, it is at a cross road between China and US. Who it chooses will have many lasting indirect effects on its standing within Asean and the larger world. A tough and much needed careful calculus to the final answer!

Coming US-China meeting in Alaska will have a clearer picture of the cracks and gaps between the 1st and 2nd largest economies of the world. It will be an inconclusive outcome and the tic for tag game continues to a  higher stage of complexity involving economics, technologies and new sets of rule for the global markets!

It will be interesting to see and closely watch the responses of Wang Yi and Yang Jiechi on behalf of Xi and China!

The known American firm standings are the HK, Xinjiang and Tibet plus Myanmar present civil unrest issues!

Afterwords:

"The Problems of Abundance and the Paradox of Success... "

"who needs who most..."

[0:33 pm, 17/03/2021] +REACH: 💉 Singapore will administer the Moderna Covid-19 jab at 4 vaccination centres from today.

How it compares with the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which other centres and clinics will continue to offer: https://str.sg/Jjjd

[0:42 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. This virus pandemic will unfold into geopolitical influence.

2. Vaccines will similarly be used as a political tool to elicit political mileage - the like of tech war, trade war and financial war eg.

- choice of 5g network

- choice of FTA

- choice of US dollars and digital yuan

Etc.

[1:12 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore should take a principle stand in every foreign affairs diplomacy.

Just like we take a principle stand in:-

- 5g

- FTA

- basket of currency

Etc.

Likewise, we should take a similar principle stand on the vaccines diplomacy.

[1:16 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Who knows, after undertake a veracity and robust check on Sinovac - where Sinovac vendor provide all the necessary data, - we can open a few vaccination center for Sinovac eg.

- in Chinatown cc vaccination center

- or a few vaccination center for Sinovac

Then let people choose for those who want Sinovac as the vaccines of choice.

[1:18 pm, 17/03/2021] +KS Foong: People who wants to go to China, people who trusts china’s vaccine will choose China’s vaccine.

[1:19 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes I guess so.

[1:21 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

As for me and my family members including my extended family members - we will only choose Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine and not others.

Patients has a preference - what go into our body.

[1:24 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

For our PM and DPM who have injected with Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine - can't be they are not issue with visa to visit China?

DPM is the co-chair of annual Singapore-China economic programme.

[1:57 pm, 17/03/2021] +richard Wong: You have a choice only if you pay for it . In this instance , it’s offered free by the Govt so just take what’s being offered and don’t make Govt life difficult !!!

[1:58 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

No it is voluntary.

We can don't take.

[1:58 pm, 17/03/2021] +An fan: Then the Chinese governors can come to Singapore to have meetings.

[2:00 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: tbh i think it's just a matter of time before sinovac is approved in sg

[2:01 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: dun like how countries are using these vaccines as political chips

[2:02 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

All current covid vaccines are only for emergency use - not public used according to WHO guidelines - as there are no long term data to support public use.

It can't be force on the people if people don't feel comfortable.

[2:05 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

It can't be force on the people to take those vaccines where people are not comfortable with - if the vaccines are for emergency use and not public use according to WHO guidelines.

[2:06 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: vaccines are voluntary basis for now even for front line workers

[2:06 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: no one is forced to take it

[2:12 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In other words, all current covid vaccines are still experimental drugs awaiting approval for public use.

And usage is voluntary and not force upon.

[2:17 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

By voluntary registration to vaccination, you are giving your consent to take the risk of experimental drug.

Patients hence have a say which vaccine they are comfortable with - because you are betting your life on it - not whether the vaccine is free or not.

[2:23 pm, 17/03/2021] +REACH: Covid-19 PCR test kits could soon be freeze-dried locally https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/covid-19-pcr-test-kits-could-soon-be-freeze-dried-locally?&utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=addtoany

[2:24 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Means you have to wait for it. Pfizer one is still used for front line workers.

[2:24 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

We can wait, no problem.

[2:25 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: 👍🏻 it will come to public soon

[2:26 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: So all along last year I feedback need to let us choose vaccine they actually took it into consideration

[2:26 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Cos In beginning say cannot choose

[2:27 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has the best potential consistent outcome - based on Israel, UK and US results.

Sinovac has inconsistent outcome from Brazil, Turkey and one more country I can't recall.

[2:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Ah not last year but this year haha

[2:29 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

And the irony is China has got the license to produce Fosun-BioNTech vaccines which is the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Majority of China national are waiting for this vaccine.

[2:31 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/east-asia/hong-kong-formally-approves-fosun-pharma-biontech-vaccine

HK approve Fosun-BioNTech vaccines.

[2:33 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

China's Fosun plans plant to make BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine -Caixin

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-coronavirus-vaccine-fosunpharm-idUSKBN2940XE

[2:34 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Don’t worry there will be Sinovac II which is exactly same as BioNTech vaccine soon in the near future haha

[2:38 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/se-asia/vietnam-says-homegrown-covid-19-vaccine-to-be-available-by-fourth-quarter

[2:43 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Well, suggestion is the 1st step.

Systematically working out the case is the 2nd step.

The final fruition is the combination of the 2.

[2:43 pm, 17/03/2021] +An fan: Now everyone talks about vaccines, I still want to know where this Covid-19 virus came from. Natural or not

[2:44 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: The program was widened in December to focus on additional priority groups including employees in the cold-chain industry, transportation sector and fresh food markets.

[2:44 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: How Sg also can consider the above as priority grp for vaccine

[2:45 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Based on past trends there were cases from overseas transport workers

[2:46 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Step 2 requires comprehensive research and very convincing argument - that can swing civil servants and Ministers.

[2:47 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

I can't see such qualities in the opposition bench.

[2:48 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Let the G work out step 2. We just provide feedback. Who are we to give technical details of plans etc

[2:49 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: All viruses origin come from nature. It can also evolve organically given time.

[3:10 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Step 2 is to convince the government to buy our suggestions - not technical details of implementation.

If government is not convinced of the suggestion in step 1, government will not jump to step 3 to plan detail implementation.

[3:17 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Actually we don't have to convince, just need the results to show (eg. low take up rate for vaccination) and it's enough of a case for them to take it seriously.

[3:18 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: often times we are layman and can sense things on the ground which they cannot so just provide such feedback is enough

[3:18 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Hahahaha.

Well different people have different ways to get the outcome.

[3:21 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Oh almost forgot to feedback something about Rediscover Voucher.

Can gov consider extending the validity of the Vouchers? It is really hard to utilize the vouchers (eg. SEA Aquarium only opens Sat, Sun & Mon but I think they have extended to Tue now) so we need more time to utilize the vouchers.

[3:22 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Well tourism vouchers if not hardcopy vouchers - many people don't use it.

STB write a long email to me after I feedback to them.

I already know the outcome.

[3:23 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

STB say they will use my approach next time.

[3:23 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: it's not that, just that the places we wanna go is fully booked when we're free

[3:23 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: end up we give it a miss during our off days

[3:24 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: so you will have many vouchers going to waste

[3:24 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: don't say no feedback from the ground

[3:24 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: pray tell what's your approach?

[3:25 pm, 17/03/2021] +CQ: yes, indeed! there's already a mad rush for the March hols this week, i would imagine that there will be another mad rush during the June hols

[3:25 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: the problem is we took leave during weekdays but it's not open on weekdays!

[3:26 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: lol

[3:26 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: we dun wanna squeeze with weekend crowd but end up can't go cos they're not open

[3:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: lol

[3:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +CQ: i also hope it will be extended until like end of this year or something...

[3:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: yes i second that

[3:27 pm, 17/03/2021] +CQ: i also don't want to squeeze with weekend or holiday crowds...

[3:33 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

I thought I have previously write extensively in REACH.

Well not going to repeat it.

[3:33 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Oh about the physical vouchers one right?

[3:34 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Well many who are issue with CDC vouchers and some other cash vouchers are used up with no wastage.

Psychologically, people will use up what they are given as physical cash.

People don't use what they can't see.

[3:45 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Can give 2nd round. Since many never use. Those who used it will sure use again

[3:46 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Where u want to go

[3:50 pm, 17/03/2021] +REACH: JUST IN: Singapore reports 9 new Covid-19 cases, which are all imported.

More https://str.sg/JjvM

[3:54 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: True to certain extent. But i think most Singaporeans will utilize it if possible, we are known for being kiasu haha

[3:54 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: SEA Aquarium on weekdays

[3:55 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Hahahaha.

[3:56 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Interesting

[3:56 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: No demand on weekdays bah

[3:57 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: That’s why we wanna go when no crowd mah

[3:57 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Bringing my little girl out leh

[3:57 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Prefer not to have crowds

[3:57 pm, 17/03/2021] +Caleb: Try early morning lor. Think nobody

[3:58 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Tourism business people making noise.

Take up rate not as expected.

[3:59 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: 10am is opening hour and it isn’t considered early for weekends

[4:00 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: They don’t try harder to work on weekdays they can’t max out the voucher amount

[4:00 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Confirm one

[4:00 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

My feedback to STB is - harder to achieve rebooting the tourism sector that desperately need immediate assistance.

[4:00 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Only have themselves to blame

[4:19 pm, 17/03/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

In time of crisis, we should use the simplest and most effective method to achieve the outcome.

We can use untried fanciful methods in other time.

[4:21 pm, 17/03/2021] +Alvin Lim: Maybe out of my league but I think now is a good time for tourism sector to create new attractions and refurbish old ones. Hedging on "Go Green" initiative, drive up local demand with greener attractions and long term sustainable operations.
