[2:16 pm, 17/09/2020] +: πŸ“’ Today's Topic πŸ“’

How do you think we can enjoy our SingaporeREdiscovers vouchers while maintaining safe distancing measures?

Tourist attractions will be able to cater to more visitors, after more than two months of being restricted to filling just 25 per cent of operating capacity at any one time. From Friday (Sept 18), they can apply to the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to increase it to 50 per cent.

The STB said on Wednesday that the easing of rules for attractions comes as operators have been effective in preventing and dispersing crowds as well as maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

[3:44 pm, 17/09/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:

Temasek funds has the highest credit ratings by Moody and others.

Means it is safe at the same time bring good returns.

It won't invest in toxic assets that brings high return but extremely risky - because they are managing citizens and nation funds.

[3:46 pm, 17/09/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:

Those funds that promise high returns but extremely risky.

One bank offer offshore funds that bring double digits return.

In the end, the whole fund collapse - capital total lost.

[3:48 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Yes

[3:49 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Agree

[4:04 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Conversations and race and religion can be uncomfortable but I hope Singaporeans can talk about it more openly, but in a calm and respectful manner of course ☮️✌🏻😌

[4:07 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Provide u can chop one.nIght after another if not just change room or hotel loh..

[4:08 pm, 17/09/2020] +: A family will sure spent more than 100 buck... So can the family members be combine is another issue?

[4:08 pm, 17/09/2020] +: The terms use ha e not come out.

Also can it use in phrase.. Or must it use in one single purchase..

[4:09 pm, 17/09/2020] +: it'll just be me and my hubs lah, so $200 bucks. but the T&Cs confirm guarantee chop is gonna be like "spend $50 can use $10 voucher" kind.

[4:09 pm, 17/09/2020] +: 18 new Covid-19 cases in Singapore, with 2 imported and 1 in the community

There were 18 new coronavirus cases confirmed as of Thursday noon (Sept 17), taking Singapore's total to 57,532.

They included one community case who is a work pass holder, said the Ministry of Health (MOH).

There were also two imported cases who had been placed on stay-home notices upon arrival in Singapore.

[4:09 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Eg if I book rsw stay, sure more than 100, can I use my partner voucher n combine..

[4:10 pm, 17/09/2020] +: That is another term. No F&B dining also at hotel etc.. Maybe solely for room booking

[4:10 pm, 17/09/2020] +: and omg, can i use up the $100 at once or each time can only use one $10 voucher....? if it's the latter then damn sian

[4:10 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Then u stay 10 times.. Lol

[4:11 pm, 17/09/2020] +: lol!!!! "thank you for contributing to the economy" 🀭

[4:11 pm, 17/09/2020] +: I believe it is flexible like the sg active 100 buck type...

[4:12 pm, 17/09/2020] +: Thks u for helping the tourism board... Mr Heng will be grateful..

[4:14 pm, 17/09/2020] +: very hard to say leh. cos if the objective is to encourage local tourism, it wouldn't have the effect of sustaining the activities in the long term cos people use one time then that's it already lor.

[4:22 pm, 17/09/2020] ☸️  Danny εΏƒ:

1. Singapore can manage and keep our inflation low - 2% and below consistently because we applied 2 financial strategies prudently :-

a. Monetary Policy - where we peg our exchange rate to a basket of international currencies - and by doing so - our currency is strong and can prevent imported inflation.

As we import most of our food, raw materials for our consumption and for production.

b. Fiscal Policy - we maintain balance budget by adopting fiscal prudence - ie. we spend within our means - where our government revenue always exceed government spendings - without borrowing or rampantly use our reserve (except this year where we kenna covid) --- hence our currency are strong as we don't need to service public debt.

2. Thus Temasek Holdings annual return of more than 3%, 20 year of 6% return and 14% return of 40 years are respectable --- because =

a. Temasek is not under pressure to invest in short-term annual instrument that fetch 3% return.

b. Temasek can invest in long-term assets 20 years that fetch 6% or 40 years that fetch 14% --- but every year overlaps.

c. So come 20 years, 21 years and beyond - Temasek can liquidate the instruments that mature with 6% --- more than cover the 2% inflation.

This is how Government can pay 2.5% interest for CPF ordinary account, 4% for special account, medisave account, 6% for retirement account ---- for eg.

Pse note this is just an example --- doesn't meant that CPF interest is funded through Temasek return ---- I think it is through other Government funds.

3. So if any fund manager come to us and say, cannot cover inflation, go for double digits return fund ---- immediately, it will sound an alarm bell.

Just look at the World economy -- how many countries have double digit growth?

It is not rocket science --- it is economics --- everything is based on demand and supply, business profit and loss.

Any companies in the World always have double digits profit growth every year? If have, it must be a fairy tale and it will not be sustainable.

(1) Singaporeans and Residents will have the tendency to book for a tour - after 1 year of hard work and solid study to relieve stress.

(2) What does Singaporeans actually do :-

a. Book a tour to foreign Countries - so can fly and enjoy the flight.

b. Guided or un-guided tour - to see tourist spots, beaches, shopping centres, eat in restaurants, go nightspots to enjoy music etc.

(3) Now covid-19 hit, what is the impact :-

a. Want to fly to enjoy flight meal, in-flight entertainment --- don't have --- because many Countries lockdown - don't allow casual tourists - cannot fly - "peh ce".

b. Want to go tourist spots to take picture, go beaches to relax, swim, canoing, go shopping to buy souvernirs or other luxuries good, eat seafood, gourmet, steak, sashimi etc, go to pubs to enjoy music, or go karaoke etc --- cannot - "peh ce".

So how? Boring, "peh ce", stress, frustrated, nowhere to go....

----

(1) Then come "Toursim voucher - the Superman" - $100 tourism voucher.

(2) If SIA, Silkair and Scoots are smart --- it will have coordinate the following :-

a. Economy, Business and First Class Flight to nowhere ---- at a good rate --- throw in with flight meal, in-flight entertainment and airport check-in, check-out ---- as if like going for an overseas tour.

b. Arrange with tourist spots companies :-

i. Eg. For beach, in Sentosa, RWS universal studio, check-in in hotels, organised tours in Sentosa various tourist spots. (For atas high class that can afford higher price local tourists. Then arrange for meals - breakfast, lunch, dinner in hotel, restaurants and some other gourmet eating places.

ii. Eg. for city tours, check in to Marina Sands, check-in hotels, organised city tours to see museum, Merlion, and other city tourist sites - for atas high price local tourist. Then arrange for meals - breakfast, lunch, dinner in hotel, restaurants and some other gourmet eating places.

iii. Eg. visit to zoo, bird park, har par villa, tree-top hiking, bukit timah reserve etc for those who prefer wildlife and adventure - mid range affordable local tourists.

Since local cannot book overseas tour but can only tour at home --- the above arrangement can reboot air flight tours, and tourist spots --- and the $100 tourism vouchers will also trigger locals to spend more when exceeded the $100.

But while doing the above local tours, wear masks, social distancing measures, personal hygiene, do not eat by sharing utensils etc must be observed.
