Internet connectivity in cars comes with security risks

The driver should be left to concentrate to control the car and not distracted by internet surfing. Else it is an accident waiting to happen where even a slight lapse of concentration will be danger bound.
All the functions and features that are related to the automobile should not be control by IT and in fact should be a mechanised mechanism so that even if hackers can hack into the IP function of the car, the hackers cannot disrupt the car's steering wheel, gears, brakes, wipers etc. The most it can bring down is the internet access without causing the car to lose its capabilities to move from point A to point B.
Accessing internet should be the passenger toy kit and the drivers should not be accessing it.

Causing a car to malfunction is quite simple to do if all the mechanised functions are IP based - just by identifying the IP address of the car - and do a DDOS on the IP and the car will go haywire - causing it to crash on other cars.
So unless we are sure that IoT cars will not malfunction by hacking - taking a careful approach on IoT cars will be necessary.
