When the above 8 NoblePath are in balance or Equilibrium, Enlightenment of Nirvana is attained.

The 3-Ring Fruition (华严三昧) of 无我（大舍）， 慈悲，般若智慧 is attained – where all karma cease.

Where the 4 Noble Truth of 苦，集，灭，道 is fully understood.
(1) Sufferings
(2) Cause of Sufferings is due to Attachments (now both are attached to revenge and to nationalism)
(3) Eradicating the Attachments will eradicate Sufferings
(4) Attained Nirvana

During Sakyanmuni Buddha times, 3,000 years ago, the Buddha try to stop an imminent war between 2 countries 3 times.

3 times He succeeded when He intercepted the advancing troop of the Army of a tribe that was launching an attack. The Buddha will bring His 2 disciples to block the path of the advancing troop sitting in a lotus posture. Everytime the King and his advancing troop see the Buddha and His disciples, their hearts soften when Buddha expound discourse to calm the Army down and they lose their appetitie to fight and return to base.

The King knew that everytime if the Buddha appear, they will not succeed in the attack and each time the King try a different route to avoid the Buddha - but for 3 times he did not succeed.

But for the 4th time, the Buddha was ill. The King knew about the Buddha illness, quietly under the cover of the night hurried his troops to the opposing tribe's base. Buddha knew the troop's advancement and despite very ill, still struggle along with the help of the 2 disciples to try to intercept the advancing troop. For the 4th time, He know that He will not be able to stop the war because the karma seeds of hatred that is ingrained between the 2 countries was too deep. The war was eventually fought and the Sakya tribe was eliminated and the homeland destroyed.

The victorious troop then marched back with his big army back to base – but as his army is crossing a river, the river suddenly swelled with huge monsoon and the whole army perished in the sea.

The Buddha did warn Both Parties the consequences beforehand and try to coax the victorious King to get rid of the hatred. But the hatred is too ingrained – and the karma seeds germinate and finally bloom into fruition and the war finally erupted.

(1) Server and Operating system hosting sensitive public web - should be hardened - whereby all sensitive files must be locked for readonly and not writable and unessential services are properly disable. This prevent malware from infiltrating and attempt to alter system files, change registry parameters and settings, steal information, change password, take control of servers, alter web page without authorisation etc.

(2) Servers are connected through 2 sources - inband (that are public facing) - read only and not writable or very limited write access for eTransaction only. Out-of-band (OOB) - that are only accessable by Administrator with full access right. OOB is internal for server and web management - and not accessible by the public. Public - can only access via inband connection with limited or no write access - that why cannot deface the web page.
Alteration of web pages and services can only by done through OOB and not in-band.
(Note:- Inband and OOB are not routable to one another.)

(3) Use jump server or internal dedicated station to do updating of web services or perform admin function to the servers. Remote administration are disallowed and will be revoked. Thus no way for hackers to hack.

(4) Introduction of 2-factors authentication - even if hackers are able to steal the admin id and password, it still will not be able to access the server and web services to do damaged because another factor of authentication is required.

(5) Make use of directory services with another machines issuing digital certificate to authorise access. Hackers even though can hacked into the directory services with admin right will not have the right digital certificate as it is issued by another machine acting as Certificate Authority.

(6) Use CSP - Critical System Protection - to detect unauthorised hacking, do protection of all server files, detect malware infiltration, do intrusion detection and prevention, prevent web defacement etc.
Hackers who are able to deface a web page in 9 minutes means hackers is able to break and access the server with root admin password (unless the server did not change the factory default admin password) - taking full control of the server in minutes.

Hackers is also able to break the web page admin password - usually no default admin - which means this hackers is very skillful - could be using hacking tools that crack password.
(Oops sorry, with full admin right to the server, hackers will just replace the original web page with his own defaced web page - no need to crack the web page admin password. Think to deep and give the hackers too much respect.)

Of course doing all will be costly - which is meant for eCommerce.
With limited budget, doing some of those mention above - without the use of CSP will be very cost effective - and good to prevent or mitigate what the hackers can do.)

Solar energy is provided by the sun and wind is provided by the nature, wind (backend energy resources are nature – and is free).

Though solar and wind energy are intermittent as it depends on
environmental conditions, it does give a good complement to traditional source of energy – be it fossil or natural gas.

Also if the energy generated by solar and wind has surplus – it can sell back to the national grid – to fund the solar panel cell and the windmill (front end infrastructure).

Overall, this will reduce the cost of energy – nationwide.

Also to ensure reliable supply of energy (instead of solely depending on intermittent energy sources – like solar and wind) – traditional energy source of energy and fossil or natural gas – can kick it to ensure reliability of energy supply without causing disruption of electrical energy to the home.

Most important – the “handover” from intermittent energy source and traditional energy source and vice versa – must be seamless – and must not cause an electrical spike, brownout, surge or electrical blackout – that cause damages to home electrical appliances such as computer, TV, air-con, lighting, fridge, washing machines etc.

Otherwise a central UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) (or even backup power generator) need to be implemented in each HDB block to ensure a graceful cutover of power supply from intermittent energy source and traditional energy source and vice versa – to ensure all home appliances will not be impacted by electrical irregularities.

I think the challenging part is the metering of the energy usage – how much is attested to using the traditional energy source, how much is used through solar energy, how much is sell back to National Grid through surplus solar energy sending energy to the National Grid.

Thus a proper metering system and software must be available to accurately meter the energy usage for how much, how long, at what time and this is translated to correct billing.

The billing system must be able to translate the correct energy usage and bill correctly.

Thought power will need to come from the power stations through the power grid. If not how to provide power of thousands of Kilowatts to power up the data centre?

Unless, the floating data centre make use of power generator and backup power generator – use in large commercial ships to power the energy needs of the ships.

(2) Data Centre need to be connected to outside world such as Internet, provide network connectivity to customer organisation such as DWDM, SONET/SDH, MetroEthernet, ISDN, frame relay, leased lines, MPLS, fibre connections, ADSL, cable modems, telephony, hosting services, SAN storage connections etc. Provide cabling connectivity such as fibre connections, coaxial cables, copper cables, submarine cables etc. – but Data Centre if it is a floating structure, cabling will become a big challenge as it need to be protected from corrosion by sea water. Also being a floating structure, it means the Data Centre will drift and move in tandem with the sea waves – and cabling will have to be able to withstand the tension from the drift and will not break.

Unless this floating Data Centres only provide wireless connectivity like satellite, 3G/4G network, microwave, wimax, wifi, super-wifi, free-space optics etc. – then it is feasible. But the only catch is, the wireless network has much smaller bandwidth as compared to wired network (bandwidth speed can be very high eg. 10Gbps, 40Gbps, 100Gbps etc - unmatch by wireless bandwidth) that is required of running a Data Centre – where Data Centre is an “aggregation of services” where hosting services converged and public will all need to access the hosting services through the connectivity pipe between the Data Centre and the public – and a wireless Data Centre – will be clogged by congested network traffic.

Running a floating Data Centre – will definitely be a challenged – let see how Google can overcome the challenge. If Google can overcome these challenges, then it ill be new avenues of building Data Centre - and will be useful for places that lack land spaces to build Data Centres.

Actually the problem caused by schedule updates of Web services, network equipment or servers can be prevented or mitigated by
2 main approaches without much hiccups or problems :-

(1) Use Configuration Manager under the armbit of Configuration Management of IT Service Management (ITSM) under ITILv3.

Configuration Manager normally can keep the latest previous configuration (can be up to 10 previous configurations – that have been working in the production environment) copy of the configuration files of Web services, network equipment or servers.

When a new copy of the configuration files are used to update in the production environment in a schedule update and the Web services or systems fail to work properly, the Configuration
Manager can “roll-back” to the previous working copy – and thus will cause minimal impact to the users or public of the web services. The SLA can still be keep intact – as the disruption will be minimal.

Thus there is no way a scheduled update of new configuration files can disrupt the Web services.

(2) After developing a new copy of the configuration file – whether for Web services, network equipment or servers – it must be tested thoroughly in an environment (known as a “Staging zone”) – that is very closed to or a replica of the “Production zone”.

Upon roll out to the Staging zone and tested through actual web hit or web transaction and found to be working without hiccups or any problem, will scheduled update be provisioned by the Configuration Manager to the actual “Production zone”.

So it is highly unlike a scheduled update of new configuration files will bring down a live web site – if the above 2 approaches are adopted.

Engage a solution architect – cheap cheap – can prevent a lot of problem, solve a lot of issues, problem free, trouble free - with "peace of mind" – especially National ones.

However, given the current technologies in web load balancing - by using server load balancer (SLB) - to spread the load within server cluster within a data centre. As well as redistributing the load among varius data centres through data centre load balancing - to distribute the load between data centre via global load balancer - the multi-million of web hits should not be a problem to handle.

Moreover, with network able to handle gigabits network traffic and can be implemented to do "active-active" configuration via GLBP (Global Load Balancing Protocol) in the ingress port and BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) in the egress ports - load balancing of network traffic to redistribute the web traffic is possible.

Even though there are no tools to simulate the web load of multi-million web hits - for stress test - unless use DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) method (hacking method) - by harnessing distributed computing to stress test by simulating multi-million hits, mental calculation will help.

E.g - simple math computation - like taking into account the capacity of a server resources such as processor, memory, harddisk, network capacity and speed - the number of web hit in which a server, a server cluster and how many data centres can handle, the multi-million web hits can be computed with very precise accuracy to determine the specs per server, per server cluster and how many data centres can be computed to handle the multi-million loads - without causing the problem in the program launch.

Thus the problem of web hits when multi-million concurrent hit the web - will not pose a problem - even through mental calculation without a load test.

Experience technical person handling such project will be quite confident such technical glitches - even of National scale will be mitigated and will not pose too much of a problem.

Lastly, the web service, application, program and database must be thoroughly tested to ensure they are bug free and can handle fast responses. The total response times that go through every devices and software should be aggregated to ensure that the web transaction can be completed within a designated time - even with concurrent access.

Many network and application management software that can measure the response time end to end from network, database, applications, programs, web services - up to code level can be deployed to do the actual measurement and if there are any issues, the network, system, application and web code and database - can be tweaked by changing the relevant parameter and fine-tune to ensure they can perform at a optimal level.

All likely issues can already have been ironed out - through the various tests before the final roll-out.

Thus an experience solution architect to oversee the project is required to ensure success for such national level project - and cheap cheap some more to employ.

 

(After note :- threshold on all the IT resources capacity can be monitored to ensure it can handle the traffic. If threshold is reached, more IT resources can be dynamically provisioned like CPU, memory, harddisk spaces, even network bandwidth through link aggregation.

The intent is to prevent war, preach peace and preach reconciliation among the Middle East countries, preach reconciliation between and among the religious groups be it Sunni and Shiite, Islam and Judaism, Islam and Catholics and Christianity, Islam and others.

Only when this is handle well, will the outburst in the Muslim World be handled well.

This is not influencing only Middle East - it is causing unease throughout the whole Muslim World as Sunni forms the majority of the Muslim World.

Note :- any war between countries in the Middle East will not only confine to the 2 countries only - it will draw in many countries into a brawl - using conventional weapons and even unconventional weapons (chemical, nuclear, biological - which will be catastrophe).

Any war options cannot be taken lightly - because many lives will be lost - even though it will change the political landscape - but the karma will be extremely heavy - continuous war of no respite.

Which countries such as Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Egypt, Somali, etc has stopped the war - after a war of political change?

One should look at how Malaysia handle their internal challenges of many mega demonstration after the General Election.

To a lesser extent, how Indonesia handle their internal challenges.

War is only a measure of last resort whereby every options fail - and should not be taken lightly. It is the lowest grade and frown upon by Enlightened Beings.

Political measure, diplomacy and other positive measures are higher grade to resolve disputes and issues.

Imagine a massive Gulf war if fought in the Gulf, your trade in oil plummet and all the countries dealing with oil, tourism, development, travel etc will suffer greatly, financially even if not caught up and involve in the fight.

Is war the best option?

Only middle path or equilibrium will bring real Enlightenment to all sentinent beings.

Extremism on either ends - secular or spiritual will only bring untold sufferings to people - which is not the original intent of any Enlightened Beings of the Universe.

Extremism or extreme precepts are make by people, not Enlightened Beings.

Enlightened Beings only have 3 wholesome attributes :- No-Self, Compassion and Panna Wisdom.

Extreme precepts are tantamount to torture (and is not part of any 3 wholesome attributes) - and has nothing to do with Enlightenment factors that lead sentinent beings to Supreme Enlightenment.

Enlightened Beings don't preach punishment - only preach karma. One reap what one sow under the grace of Universal Law.

Enlightened Beings don't administer punishment - because His Innate Nature are No-Self, Compassion and Panna Wisdom.

No Enlightened Beings will bear to see the sufferings in sentinent beings - only finding ways to liberate sentinent beings from their sufferings - under His innate attribute of Compassion.

Any deviant of the 3 cardinal values of No-Self, Compassion and Panna Wisdom is not the Teachings of the Enlightened Beings.

The Ever Forgiving (al-Ghaffar)

The Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds (Rabb al-Alameen)

The Sustainer (al-Muqsith)

The Source of Peace (As-Salaam)

- because once the limbs chop already - cannot re-attached back - (what happen he or she was wrongly accused?). Also under the grace of Compassion, one should be given opportunity to repent and re-live one's life for small crime once one served one's sentence in prison and repented. If limbs chop already - can it be re-attached back?

(1) Despite growing Economy and population, US has moved towards more service oriented industries and lesser manufacturing activities that required energy-driven resources that produce carbon pollution.

(2) US has been using greener energy that does not lead to air pollution.

This is good news to the World because it will help to bring about less Greenhouse effects that affect the World climatic conditions.

I thought this concept of Job Portal could be extended to normal job applicants like PMET and blue collar workers.

The job portal can do online tracking, matching of candidates and employers looking for job applicants.

 

The Job Portal should also be tweaked to track hiring and ensure that applicants are gainfully employed and not underemployed so that their skillsets and potential are maximised.

Employed a person gainfully that commensurate with his skillsets and experience - will bring higher productivity to the company and to the Economy.

Eg. if a person possess the skillsets and knowledge to win and implement a $30 million project, the company and the Economy will gain a positive Economy Output of $30 million.

However if he is underemployed and is given a job that bring $1 million to $2 million project, then it is no longer productive to the company and to the Economy - because it bring a net loss of $30 million - $2 million = $28 million as Economic Output.

This is "Deductivity" and not "Productivity" - being under-employed and did not exploit and maximise his full potential.

What is worst if the person can contribute in a National level that can run into $
multi-million or even $ billion - either through savings or through new initiatives that boost the Economy.

Being unemployed are translated into "Double Negative Deductivity" - where there are no Economic Output to the Economy and no salary to the unemployed.

Job ads: What's fair and what's not

Foreign firms operating in Singapore would have reaped the benefits of earning profits from the good business environment offered by Singapore.

Foreign firms in return for such favour should at least be a good guest and offer employment to Singaporeans in return for the hospitality. By totally cutting out Singaporeans and offering jobs only to their own people - is unkind - and will bring friction to the host that host them.

Kindness should reciprocate both ways - and should not only be a one way traffic.
 One objective of attracting foreign investments is to create jobs for local people (of course not completely cutting off foreigners). If a foreign firm fail to do so, will definitely get the rap from the host.

Crews battle to tame wildfires in southeastern Australia

Thought that the more effective way to fight forest fire in dry weather and strong wind is using big plant and machinery to dig "fire trenches" to separate the forest that is on fire and those that are not on fire.

If the trenches are wide enough, then the fire will not be able to jump across the fire trenches and spread to areas that are not ignited by fire.

Once the fire trenches are dug, then firemen can concentrate on putting out the area on fire.

(After note :- parameters to locate the best sites to dig "fire trenches" could be :-

1. Determine the Speed of the wind
2.  Determine how fast is the spread of fire
3.  Determine what type of plants and machineries to deploy that can mow down a row of trees quickly to create the fire trench.
4. Use helicopter to bring back real time information based on its bird eyes view - to the ground command and control centre - to make emergency decision.

Note :- Men cannot chase after nature to put out the fire - when wind help the fire to spread.

But men can use isolation method with the help of heavy machineries to separate the area on fire - with those that are not.

In fact, to slow the spread, the firemen should fight fire from where the fire trenches are being dug and fan inwards rather than attempting to fight the fire that is spreading.)
