[10:02 am, 01/10/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

All seniors aged 60 and above, and those living with them are strongly urged to stay at home as the COVID-19 situation stabilises in Singapore, especially if they are unvaccinated. The recent rise in COVID-19 cases has seen more seniors experiencing severe symptoms when infected, the Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 30).

💬 What are your views on the recent rise in seniors experiencing severe symptoms? What precautions are you taking to better protect seniors at home? Parents with children taking major exams (PSLE, O/A/N levels), how have you been you coping with being safe, WFH and guiding your kids through this period?

About 1.4 per cent or 560 out of 39,300 pupils from 90 primary schools took leave from quarantine orders to sit the first PSLE paper on Thursday (Sept 30). About 99.4 per cent of all eligible students sat the English Language written examinations, the Ministry of Education (MOE) said on Thursday in response to queries. That means about 236 pupils did not show up for the exam for various reasons.

To reduce the risk of seniors being infected, the agency reminded seniors to go out only for essential activities and avoid crowded places. In the next four weeks, they should minimise group activities and social gatherings, it added. The agency also encouraged seniors to minimise mask-off activities such as eating at hawker centres, and opt to take away food instead.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) encouraged unvaccinated seniors to get their shots as soon as possible as the risk of an unvaccinated person getting severely ill is almost seven times higher.

From Friday (Oct 1), all Singapore citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders aged 60 and above will be able to walk in to any vaccination centre, polyclinic, or participating public health preparedness clinic to get a third shot of the Covid-19 vaccine, without the need for an appointment.

Since Sept 15, 500,000 eligible seniors have been invited to get their third vaccine doses as part of the vaccination booster programme for those aged 60 and above. A total of 215,729 have received their booster shots and another 119,000 have booked their appointments.

Data cited from Israel, showed that a vaccine booster dose in persons aged 60 and above helps to maintain strong protection against Covid-19 without additional safety concerns.

Seniors who need support in getting vaccinated can contact the AIC Hotline on 1800-650-6060 or their nearest SGO office.

[10:35 am, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: I have 2 seniors (my parents) living in my household of 7 pax. We try to live as normal as possible but most of us have reduced social interactions externally. Although both are already fully vaccinated - 3 shots - they have been keeping up with the news too and are finding their own balance on how to manage their personal risk.

Beyond COVID, mental well being is also important - my Dad is especially disappointed with the external social isolation as he's built up a routine with his group of neighborhood friends, but we try to manage it by reminding him the restrictions will just be for 1 month.

[10:39 am, 01/10/2021] +~N: What do you mean by 'as the Covid-19 situation stabilises'. Is it stabilising?

[10:50 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. 95 have die - 93 are elderly 60 years and above.

2. About 10 are fully vaccinated elderly who passed away.

3. 83 are majority unvaccinated and a few partially vaccinated.

4. Hence full vaccination is the key to prevent elderly death.

5. Booster 3rd shot is also important to be given to elderly.

6. Thus Singapore must do well to get all the elderly Vaccinated before we are assured that elderly can be protected against the covid.

[10:51 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Influenza

Flu R0 = 1.4.

Singapore yearly infection 520,000 - symptomatic see doctors.

Hospitalisation = average 1,500 per year

Death = average 844 per year.

Mild or asymptomatic - number unknown (no testing)

Safeguard in place - none

No mask, no social distancing.

Covid Delta variants

Delta variants R0 = 5 to 9.

To date since covid started Infection = 94,043 (Dec 2019 to Sep 2021)

Hospitalisation as at 29 Sep 2021 =  1,335 (maximum reserved bed for covid = 1,600)

Death to date since Dec 2019 = 93

Safeguard in place :-

1. Mask

2. Social distancing (eg. WFH, HBL, hand hygiene, restricted dine-in etc)

3. >80% full vaccination

=====

The question is with R0 = 5 to 9, if we declare endemic - remove social distancing, remove mask (like West free-for-all type of endemic) -

How many of the total population will be infected? (Millions?)

How many will be hospitalised? (Few thousands?)

How many death per year will we be expecting? (Thousands?)

How many long covid will we be expecting? (Thousands?)

These are the questions that need to be answered before we can declare ourselves fully endemic.

Note :- US covid death 711,222 (some regions with high vaccination and mask, some regions with no vaccination, no mask) = Spanish flu death (no vaccination, no mask).

Covid kill as many Americans as in Spanish flu - the pandemic of doom. 675,000 reported death as per news article. 711,222 reported death as at end Sep 2021.

We don't want to end up like US - premature endemic that took many lives - equivalent to Pandemics of Doom - the like of Spanish flu.

Covid kill as many Americans as in Spanish flu - the pandemic of doom.

[10:52 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Covid: World leaders in pandemic treaty call and 'impending doom' warning in US.

Senior scientist warns of Covid 'impending doom' in US.

A senior scientist warns the US faces "impending doom" as coronavirus cases and hospital admissions rise across the country.

Dr Rochelle Walensky, director of the US public health agency - the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said: "I'm going to reflect on the reoccurring feeling I have of impending doom," adding "we have so much reason for hope, but right now I'm scared".

She was speaking at a White House briefing when she said she was going to go "off script".

New Covid cases have reached about 60,000 a day in the past week, a rise of about 7%, according to the CDC.

President Joe Biden urged state politicians once again to make mask-wearing obligatory in public places and also promised that every American adults would be able to receive a vaccine.

[10:54 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: danny> joking right they where got Doom

[10:54 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: they even listed as as dangerous hahahaha

[10:55 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: anyway not sure if anyone came across the data in UK earlier this week? one day alone they hit infection rate of 32k not counting those who might be walking zombie and the multiplication of cross infection

[10:56 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: death alone is 162 which is ok for them over in UK. (again how a society perceive death varies from country to country due to varies geographical and cultural platform)

[10:56 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

US health authority call themselves - pandemic of doom.

Because their death rate from covid = death from Spanish flu.

Because many don't vaccinate and don't wear mask.

They want free for all endemic.

Then that will be the outcome.

Because covid R0 is 5 or more times more contagious than Spanish flu.

[10:57 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: it is Danny... those countries that remove all restrictions are digging a grave

[10:57 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: simply there is no science in today world that is able to hold this wild beast down yet

[10:58 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: what we are doing is trying to balance the scale -> conservative and reducing the impact on business and jobs

[10:58 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes. No countries in the world is out of the wood yet.

Premature declaration of endemic - we will be digging our own grave

[10:58 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: but is not a single side effort (govt / authorities), the plan need society effort and is great society effort

[10:59 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

My jogging football field lockdown.

Thought it only happens in CB and Phase 2 HA.

Now again lockdown. So look like we are back to phase 2 HA.

[10:59 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes

Government can only set direction.

Society must respond.

We must get the elderly to vaccinate.

[11:00 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: to refresh all, not the exact word from WHO but is the same intent -> many country depends on numbers and vocalized about endemic and immunity in the society, this is a false front and hope because as long as there is one country that is have not received first or full 2 dose, the virus will have a place to host itself

[11:01 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: my take ontop of the WHO - even in a small society, when a case surface we are already 3-5 steps behind the spread thus it needs to be track and nip at all possible avenue to prevent a sudden burst

[11:02 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: society have to remember this tag line for now: vaccination is a tool of prevention NOT cure, vaccination + mask + safe hygiene are keys to better days

[11:09 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: For Seniors we have to be blunt with them as many may still have such mindset

- it is ok i am Old can die -> But before they die they are spreading the virus to their friends who will spread to others

- No longer are they as strong as in their 50s -> so what they take 3 dose, it might wear off even faster cos medically they are OLD

- If medically they are not vaccine, they should wear mask properly as if this is their final shield of life for now

[11:12 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: To encourage them to stay home,

- have them watch more TV

- introduce them to simple tech stuff like Youtube many like oldies move or song

- introduce them to Whatsapp to contact to friends and create group

- share with them NOT be a problem to society and families, is easy to say bye forever but when the time comes are they really ok to go, have they think of the family.

- some oldies might need fresh air, allow them but limit their walking range and time ....(yes they should stay home but ask ourselves can we stay home 1 mth not going out? ) unless we can do it and prove to them else supervise them if they need to go out

[11:22 am, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: not singing in line with you Danny: People have to remember hospital and medical care is NOT only for C19, is there to address other in existence medical problem and this group already takes up most of the existing bed and resources ....

[11:26 am, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Well just state the fact and the real outcome.

Don't have to agree with me all the time.

Real outcome and true facts are all that matters.

[11:52 am, 01/10/2021] +Jerick Tan: Thanks, it's useful. Noticed that workers living in dorms weren't included in the figure for "Completed isolation". A bit disappointing, given how long they had to be isolated

[11:56 am, 01/10/2021] +~Nee: I agree. The way the workers living in dorms have been isolated is bordering on sub-human. The sad irony is that cases are raging outside the dorms and yet the workers are caged in.

[0:19 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: This is very good. Does make our quarantine rules a bit ridiculous though. Returning vaccinated citizens have to take 6 negative tests and still have to spend $2k and 2 weeks locked in a hotel room. If we have a procedure for those who test positive positive are not ill, why can this same process not be applied to returning citizens.

[0:19 pm, 01/10/2021] +Umar Mukhtar: https://covidsitrep.moh.gov.sg

[0:20 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes, another contradiction in the process.

[0:21 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Maybe we need to review our approach. Clearly we need to maintain a healthcare system. Taking a more flexible path, as we are now doing, should alleviate the pressure

[0:24 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: People are fed up indeed. Kids can't play football or other sports, despite the negligible risk to them. They are deprived from seeing friends, family and now have to stay home too. Its sad of course.

[0:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: In Europe there are no border control between 100m+ people, and limited restrictions yet somehow due to high vaccinations the EU hasn't collapsed.

[0:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: I am now more worried about Singapore's economic future than ever. We start to slip and we may not recover.

[0:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We shut our business and soon we shut our hospitals, schools.

[0:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We shut our borders and we see companies leave.

[0:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: The economy drives our country and we are more dependent on it each day.

[0:27 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: What is the economic impact of keeping people home on the wellbeing of us and our children?

[0:28 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: I am not advocating for removal of restrictions, or anything like that. Just asking for a more pragmatic evidence based approach. Consistency and not knee-jerk.

[0:29 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Singapore has been a beacon of good sense, strong leadership and country first. Do we have that now? I worry this situation will have a negative effect on the stability of our government and in the long run that will be way more harmful than Covid

[0:35 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes zero covid strategy don't work.

Eventually we still need to go endemic.

But now we need to tap the brake and tame the number down first.

[0:36 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes and that is what is happening.  The question is what are we doing after to ensure we don't have to do it again.

[0:56 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

I propose part 3 - as the most rational and logical approach to curb the covid pandemic.

I welcome the government and others to come up with other better ideas to tackle the pandemic.

And hopefully, we can transit to endemic with less casualty.

[1:03 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Interesting that Canada is on Cat II list, but there is no way to get there without going through a Cat III. 🤦‍♂️

[1:04 pm, 01/10/2021] +Wilson Loo: fly via Germany, via Seoul, via HKG

[1:47 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

80,000 elderly still not yet vaccinated.

[1:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: And not likely to I guess.

[1:56 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

To transit to endemic safely, we need to fix this first as this group are most vulnerable.

[1:56 pm, 01/10/2021] +Samantha: fly via Japan?

[1:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +Wilson Loo: Japan is Cat III

[1:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +RH: Is the gov keeping track of which vaccines the infected hv taken and how long since their last shot to the day they were infected - to understand the lead time or effectiveness of the protection offered by the vaccine  ... and which brand,  and so on.

I hv a fren (in Brisbane)  whose just commented...

" So,  looks like Pfizer and Moderna not so effective after all...  ?"

And she was given AZ vaccine.

... Me just asking  the gov if they r looking at it fr a diff angle.

Perhaps tt can help justify the need for 3rd booster shot and how long fr last shot taken?

[1:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +Samantha: can fly thru.... my sis just flew a few days ago

[1:58 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Japan is Cat III, but thank you. It seems Korea is an option, despite a 17hr layover :)

[1:58 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Though Japan? And only 7 day quarantine on arrival on Singapore?

[1:59 pm, 01/10/2021] +Samantha: Sin to Canada

[1:59 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: From MOH: "For instance, a traveller who had left for Singapore from a Category (II) country/region but transited via a Category (III) country/region, will be subject to the Category (III) measures; and"

[2:00 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes,coming back Japan is Cat III so 14 day quarantine here in SG

[2:10 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Can we also see a map of recoveries in green? Might help balance fear with hope.

[2:14 pm, 01/10/2021] +Timothy Low: What if they don’t want to be fixed?

[2:15 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Society fix them.

Because now majority of the serious cases and death are dominated by this group.

Hospitalisation resources are hog by these group.

[2:20 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

We lockdown because hospitals overwhelm.

[2:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Angelica: I think this only applies if the layover is 24 hours and longer

[2:50 pm, 01/10/2021] +REACH: MOH unveils new Covid-19 map: Areas in Jurong, Bedok, Sengkang among those frequently visited by cases

Jurong West Central, Aljunied, Bedok North, Tampines East, Sengkang Town Centre and Woodlands East are some areas that have been highlighted as places frequently visited by Covid-19 patients within the past three days.

More: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/health/areas-in-jurong-bedok-sengkang-and-woodlands-among-those-frequently-visited-by

[3:50 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We checked, unfortunately not. Any transit will mean subject to stricter rules.

[3:51 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Interesting that we have had 20 months to make provision for this and failed. Why do we not look ahead and plan? I am not confident that this is the final tightening of restrictions

[3:52 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Either we failed at providing proper facilities or failed at managing public expectation.

[3:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: I am in Italy. They were incredibly hard hit last year. Now they are category II whilst Singapore is now on the danger list.

[3:53 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

If we fail to address the elderly Vaccination, we have to prepare for periodic lockdown - until and unless we solve this group.

[3:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We are more vaccinated than almost every other country. That is not the problem.

[3:54 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: If it is, then we tell elderly to stay home until vaccinated.

[3:54 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Why shut down the country?

[3:54 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

About 1 million people unvaccinated and we live in a dense settings.

[3:54 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Always - because of the elderly.  I don't buy it anymore.

[3:55 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: 🤷

[3:55 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Many cities in Europe are dense too. London is 7 million. Many of our elderly don't live in densley  populate areas. If they do then "stay home"

[3:59 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Always the focus on cases. No wonder the public is so scared. What does this achieve?

[4:05 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_proper_by_population_density

[4:08 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: This is 2014, so not current, but even if 2020 lists Singapore doesn't feature in the top 50, whilst Paris is 34

[4:09 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: So the densely populated argument doesn't work either.

[4:10 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: So the question is why are our hospitals overwhelmed when people can stay home, even when testing positive?

[4:11 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: If we are tightening restrictions due to hospital issues, what are we doing to resolve that other than stopping people going out?

[4:16 pm, 01/10/2021] +KS Foong: Impossible task ! How to enforce ?

[4:17 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: It's a shame ,that we our Singaporean still feels our Government Strategy or MOH doing well on current Covid Cases🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[4:21 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Not enough of Beds in Hospital  turn into stay home recovery ,who know eventually whole HDB resident become affected from the virus,

Just simply anyhow plan set & go 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[4:23 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Don't blame the senior too much ,our young ones play bigger role as well ,simply going out for nothing besides work & schooling

We owe the the senior one freedom & health too🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[4:23 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: in short society is at fault

[4:23 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: simple

[4:24 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: frm start of covid till now we always have people breaking the system, finding loop hole in the system

[4:24 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: the govt put too much faith in society maybe

[4:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Nope, economy come first in their mind as usual

[4:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: in the end they react only per according to society

[4:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: well many will see it economy first

[4:25 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: but if we look higher is a chiken and egg thing

[4:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: economy drop society suffer

[4:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: 1. I don't think any other Highly vaccinated Countries Testing Asymptomatic

Alsp Giving QO/HRW/HRA.

The first thing is STOP THE ASYMPTOMATIC TESTING.

Use GPs to Check People With Mild symptoms.

There is Even more NO NEED TO publish More frequently visited Maps or any other such thing.

I don't understand logic of testing Those who are not In QO/LOA/Any other SMMs.

[4:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: society suffer economy also suffer lok at our global name now -> Singapore govt internal issue ; singaporeans divided on covid approach ; etc

[4:26 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: how does that sound

[4:28 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Today only i thought

How many ART kits Sg is Producing

How much waste its creating?

Why the C+/QO  Need to Test every day??!

Totally silly !

[4:28 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: in short dun blame govt for their seemingly ridiculous approach cos society plays apart too

[4:29 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: no time to think of that

[4:29 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: if got time better think o fthe plastics generated from tabao is more toxic ya hahahahaa

[4:29 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: now is a time to call for everyone to do our little part only

[4:29 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: is not alot

[4:30 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: just be socially responsible personnel and companies

[4:30 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: A total wrong approach about HOME isolation.

Seriously!

Not using GPs/pharmacies

I am rearing some comments people Not able to Recived The Covid care pack on time!!

Using resources for wrong place is What is happening!

[4:30 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: words travel fast .... companies and their monkey tricks is just one call away to the authorities

[4:31 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: It is not about that

Wastage of Money

Wastage of Resources

[4:31 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: dun give den we complaint

[4:31 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: every where is doing the same thing

[4:31 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: so let's put save the earth to one side first

[4:32 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: this i agree

[4:32 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Give

Do not need to test every day!!

Do not need to test Asymptomatic

Simple

[4:33 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: the system is too overwhelm and is not ironing out the issue ... people need clear and define instructions to stop the overheat situation and ppl need to learnt to read .......

[4:34 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ah Heng: and after read share the original good information ;)

[4:36 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Simply good idea going to vote ,since we have totally different approach on Covid 19 strategy plan  I think let Singaporean have a choice to decide their future path as well as their child

[4:36 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Different option different opinion won't hurt Singapore too much ,but we are now talking about 生与死 ,otherwise we won't see elderly death one after another from the Covid 19 & number like this stIl increased in daliy basis,

[4:36 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Unity dosent come in life & death issue

[4:37 pm, 01/10/2021] +Elena Woo: And 1 ART kit is 13 bucks, how many families can afford to buy so many ART kits at one go?

[4:38 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Division always comes when there is stress and a lack of clarity. We don't want division. We need understanding. Too many discrepancies in the policies right now, it's not making sense.

[4:40 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Exactly.

[4:41 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes, but we have many restrictions imposed on us too. There is very little personal responsibility available. People always behave like kids when they are treated like them.

[4:42 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: If Government & MOH doing well enough ,we already stop talking this Covid 19 topic anymore isn't

[4:43 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: I fully supoort latest measures...infact if need more for short term, will support even CB.

But i dont support the strategy They are going with, especially Home Isolation, testing (ART/swab) asymptomatic.. testing with ART every day

[4:43 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: We don't have people to be fear or stress, We can simply carry on in our daliy lives

[4:44 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: How does CB fix it? We have had CB, HAs etc. Now we are all vaccinated. What else can we do? Permenant restrictions until the world is covid free?

[4:44 pm, 01/10/2021] +Elena Woo: I think the price of ART should drop further

[4:44 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Free for those required to take it

[4:47 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Instead of seeing 3k or 4k cases and tens of deaths daily(as projected by some People also MTF)

I rather adjust to Cb for short period

If they say situation can Improve by going 3 weeks to Cb

I fully support

[4:47 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: A Good  Government Wil simply provide ( ART /Swab ) to those earning less then $4000:00 of their monthly to everyone  instead wait from your phone & see ,

Who's affected by the virus nearby you🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[4:47 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: +1

[4:47 pm, 01/10/2021] +KS Foong: I wish the government could subsidize a portion of the ART test costs.

[4:49 pm, 01/10/2021] +KS Foong: For low income earner, perhaps this test can be given free.

[4:52 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Of course CB is preferred over 10 deaths a day, even 1 death! However those at risk from death are the elderly and those with health conditions. If you were in that category would you go out? No! So why prevent young healthy people living their lives?

[4:52 pm, 01/10/2021] +Caleb: +1

[4:52 pm, 01/10/2021] +JKL: +1

[4:52 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Good Government Wil give away for free to low incomer worker ,they having more risk then to those working at home or in office buliding

[4:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: People should have some free will to decide if they are at risk. Those at risk should avoid going out and avoid contact with those who go out. Families with those at risk at home should avoid going out.

[4:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: $13 was someone 4 meal or 5 meal to low income wirk

[4:53 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: It's not rocket science.

[4:54 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Why impose these restrictions on the whole country? Those at risk can stay home and not be at risk. Its no worse for them that way.

[4:55 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: It's like making the whole class stay back because of 1 who can't go. How is that building strength for out country?

[4:56 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: I agree and understand what you are saying

But now Its not the time to Blame them!

Seems

There are many...seems hundreds of people (including Some elderly) waiting for Updates From MOH.

Waiting for call by Tele doctor..

There are people who are having other aliments unable to see doc as Majority Hospitals reserved for Covid

We should Take care of this people Now

To do that strong restriction order id needed!

[4:56 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: The danger with lowest common denominator is that it becomes the worst for everyone.

[4:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: It's not blame. It's no one's fault they get sick, or get old!

[4:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +JKL: +1. I have big family and only one working..  How to afford?  4kids + wife + parent..  Got should think of our difficulty

[4:57 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: I perhaps blame a little those who refuse vaccination 😉

[4:58 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: I sincrely can not even Imagine, me or my family is sick and unable to go out, withmild symptoms Calling MOH /cisco many times and waiting for Tele doc mid night

Every day waiting for Care pack / ART kit.!!

While having fever of 38 plus !!

Sorry i can not imagine

I am empathizing with those who got +ve

[4:59 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes, take care of those who are at risk, and tell the others who are at risk to stay home. The influx of people who are not at risk is causing the problem. Fuelled by fear and lack of strategy.

[4:59 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Yes no ones falut..

Now out job is Take care of situation to control ASAP

[5:00 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Yes agree

[5:00 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Me too, but they should not fear. If vaccinated, or young and no underlying health conditions it will pass. No one likes getting sick and it's horrible.

[5:01 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Maybe I do see life & death more seriously then others, but base on the Government minister recently said projected 5000 for future a day daliy basis for so called ✌️New Normal✌️

We will see a huge of number people suffering & pass away because of Covid Strategy plan by Government

[5:01 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: What people don't need when they are dealing with illness is added stress and pressure.

[5:02 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: What is a 'huge number'?

[5:02 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: The number of Singaporean Wil shrinking in nearby future

If this new normal set & go

[5:02 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Definely not 5000

[5:02 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Many are leaving already. Tired of the restrictions and changing policies.

[5:04 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: This gov handled this excellently a year ago. They can 'reboot' and get a handle on it again. Needs a stronger hand and more confidence. This is not SARs.

[5:04 pm, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: looking at the news reports recently, I think the government will be opening up

[5:04 pm, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: sooner rather than later

[5:04 pm, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: balloons are floated

[5:05 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: I think you are right. I have faith in them!

[5:05 pm, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: Many are understandably fearful, because of media, because of govt back tracking

[5:06 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We need to get over this and start thinking about our future

[5:06 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes, too much focus on case number.

[5:06 pm, 01/10/2021] +John Cheong: but the fears are not rational nor informed by proper risk assessment.

[5:07 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Agreed. We can see that by looking overseas. Recent evidence, not since the start when there was no vaccination, and no treatment.

[5:08 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Maybe to someone who think that 5000 is ok

Sadly not to me

[5:08 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Maybe someone who agree current Covid Plan can stay in Western part Those who not agree can live in Eastern part in Singapore

[5:08 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: There you are - that is how division starts.

[5:08 pm, 01/10/2021] +~N: Re the geospatial data page, does it mean the identified cases stay there, work there or spent a bit of time there?

I think some of the data can be presented as a percentage of the groups of persons rather than as total/absolute number of each group.

[5:09 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: What about 5000 who all recover in 3 days? Is that not OK either?

[5:10 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: What if the number goes to 10,000 and people are not seriously ill. Would you enforce a curfew? I'm trying to understand your level of tolerance.

[5:11 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: We are all 1 Singapore. Different opinions make us a strong nation.

[5:11 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: New Normal with number of 5000 cases a day ,Wil see increasly number of death for our pioneer generation

Is the way to treat our elderly from nothing to one of richest city singapore the world who sacrifice their more then our generation

To pass away because Covid Strategy plan out of form🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

[5:12 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Of course, Curfew is one of option why not

[5:13 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Wasting of Resources

Again!!

No need of these now

After high vaccination rate🤦🏽‍♀️

This should hv been done Few months before

Deffinatly not now

And now no use i feel!!

[5:13 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Absolutely not the right way, I agree.  I thoroughly recommend we take care of the elderly by asking them to stay home.

[5:13 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: +1

I am getting fear Looking at everyday nber

Thats why i am saying plz do not Test asymptomatic

Use Resources for those actually in need!

[5:14 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Yes, and we can close ourselves off for 3-4 years while the world sorts out covid. There won't be much of a country left after that

[5:14 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Interesting point. Focus on those that need care.

[5:14 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: +1

[5:15 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Someone tolerance can bigger then 50.000 ,

I'm not surprise

But the situation like 50.000 Wil not be a better one ,far cry then current situation for sure

[5:15 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Again, why will elderly die if cases go up? Surely elderly are only at risk if their cases go up. Do you know the breakdown of cases by age?

[5:16 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: From the last few days I see no numbers given by age group. Maybe no elderly are getting sick. Maybe they are sensibly staying home.

[5:17 pm, 01/10/2021] +Suma pamu: Because they are testing and testing

Numbers high

Unable to answer calls

Unable to Provide medcines to those in meed..

As unable to undertstand or differentiate!!

Really this is wrong

Unless they immeditaly stop this Extensive testing

Its going to be People who need actual care will be tremendous stress!

(Testing and testing os before High vaccination rate..

Not now)

[5:17 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: If many elderly are getting sick then maybe we need to focus on why, and then deal with that problem.

[5:22 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: If our society number down ,all thing wil be easier to do & plan for the good future.

However the Government Strategy live with Covid 19 strategy plan ,see number as nothing as usual.

Which tells everything

We have urgently bulid more facilities for Covid patient..

Because we need more Bed for serious il patient to be hospital

It tell everything

[5:23 pm, 01/10/2021] +Anthony: Are we going to treat Covid 19 seriously✌️✌️

[5:40 pm, 01/10/2021] +CQ: Of course not... Dining in supposed to be limited to 2. I'm seeing groups of 4 or 5 walking in and splitting tables and intermingling. No clue if all the groups I've seen are from the same household, but there are just too many groups like that. So even though the logic of why these measures are even in place are being questioned by some, the mere fact that even the letter of the law is not being observed is, in itself, problematic.

[5:43 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

I don't see any effect of this lockdown.

MRT still pack - though not pack to the rim.

Mall still many people patronising.

Food court and hawker centre still many people dining in

So I don't feel we are in lockdown.

Except my favourite jogging football field lockdown.

[5:50 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Also I see many workers and students in the MRT.

Don't seem like a lockdown

[6:01 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Still very pack. Don't seem like a lockdown.

[6:01 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Got meh?

[6:02 pm, 01/10/2021] +Caleb: Very pack. Because all kept left.

Right side nobody want to climb up. Lol

[6:03 pm, 01/10/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Shopping mall very pack.

Got lockdown meh?

[6:10 pm, 01/10/2021] +finger cross: This is technically correct but not so positive when you read the next few sentences:

"The strong growth was largely due to the low base in the same period last year when GDP fell by 13.3 per cent as a result of the Circuit Breaker (CB) measures implemented from 7 April to 1 June 2020, as well as the sharp fall in external demand amidst the COVID-19 pandemic."

"In absolute terms, GDP remained 0.6 per cent below its pre-pandemic level in the second quarter of 2019."

"On a quarter-on-quarter seasonally-adjusted basis, the Singapore economy contracted by 1.8 per cent in the second quarter of 2021, a reversal from the 3.3 per cent expansion in the first quarter."

Considering the pandemic worldwide, this is already a very good performance.

Some business I know will be reporting very good profit.

[6:39 pm, 01/10/2021] +Ben: Maybe because 2020 was so bad. Of course growth will be high :)
