Since Singapore want to take side on US. Hope China will terminate the relationship with Singapore.

There is nothing to suggest that Singapore is taking side with US.
We deal fairly with both US and China.

Also many Countries in the World deal with both US and China, including China has big trade deal with US plus other strategic common interest like dealing with N Korea etc.

Are you saying that all those Countries that deal with both US and China, China will terminate relationship with these Countries.

What you say is extremely unreasonable, extremist views, dictatorial and trample on the Sovereignty of other Countries.

Wise China leadership will have more foresight than you.
They understand Singapore will play an honest broker between China and US - in time of crisis and confrontation.

You are too myopic.

Throughout the visit, Singapore emphasize US and China should engage one another constructively and it is the most important relationship in the World.

Singapore indeed has played a constructive honest broker - and try to marry US with China.

So how is your negative view and suggestion - has any values and foresight - except to instigate confrontation?

China has big trade and investment in Singapore.
Conversely, Singapore has big trade and investment in China.

US has big trade and investment in Singapore.
Conversely, Singapore has big trade and investment in US.

Your suggestion to China to terminate relationship with Singapore - is totally irresponsible, smack of petty politics and completely irrational.

The same go for anyone to suggest Singapore terminate relationship with US.

To Singapore both China and US - are important partners and friends for us.

Also Singapore foreign policies are :-
"Friends with All.
Adversity to None."

How is your suggestion wholesome?

Ricky Lim The main thorn in China's flesh is the South China Sea and freedom of navigation, which the US is pushing so hard for. When Singapore keeps harping on these two issues, it is clear to China that Singapore is interfering in its internal affairs and that is conspicious that Sg is siding with the US! Why not we play dumb on these two issues? How can Sg have really good relationship with both, when it openly supports US's agendas that antagonize China??

Let ask this question :-
(1) International sea lane must be open to the World - and no one can prevent freedom of navigation - Do you agree with this statement? I believe China, US or any other Countries agree with this statement.

Assume US or any other Countries choke this sea lane --- will China agree with it and will not be angry? Obviously China will not agree.

Similarly, if China choke the sea lane - US and other Countries will not agree.

Thus it is obvious that international sea lane must be keep free - and no Countries should control it.

Being an honest broker ---- this must be emphasize.

I doubt this will antagonize China or US or any other Countries --- because this is International Law and this is crucial for free trade to move freely.

So how should the stating of this fact - antagonize anyone?

(2) South China Sea dispute ---- Singapore already say time and again that we are not a claimant to any islands --- and will not interfere.
The claimant states will have to use their dispute resolution method to resolve it peacefully --- and not result in conflict and confrontation that will choke the sea land and free trade. Hence the code of conduct where everyone agree is still being baselined.

How the conflict will be resolved - either by diplomatic means, negotiation, consultation, exchange of goodwill, business, trade, arbitration, mediation, judegement --- etc --- are left to the claimant states to decide.

So wonder how will this antagonise anyone ---- as this is an "honest assessment of the situation" --- and is a fair statement to all States --- be it China, other claimant states or US or anyone in the World that need to use the sea lane for trade, business, travel, investment etc.

If no one state the obvious --- and everyone play dumb ---- then it may result in bigger problem later --- where fights, confrontation, conflict will break out.

But if an "Honest Assessment" and "Honest Broking" --- is put forward ---- the chances of confrontation, conflict will be lesser --- as claimants will genuinely look for constructive resolution method or approach to resolve the dispute peacefully and constructively.

For other Countries to take Singapore seriously, as credible honest broker ---- we must be fair, honest and credible.

Not play dumb.

To ensure the World can function properly, peacefully, harmoniously - that will contribute to prosperity --- Countries in the World must follow certain principles --- so that Countries in the World can coexist, integrate and function peacefully for the benefits of all.

Thus it is important as credible honest broker - we must be fearless and credible and state the obvious principle for peace. We cannot play dumb if the World want peace and prosperity.

This will help to prevent regional war, or even WW3.

WW2 and WW1 break out --- because everyone play dumb - and conflict broke out.
