[5:50 pm, 24/06/2021] +REACH: 📢 Topic 📢

Singapore will accelerate its national vaccination programme from Saturday (June 26) and administer up to 80,000 vaccine doses daily, said Health Minister Ong Ye Kung today at a virtual press conference held by the multi-ministry task force on Covid-19.

💬 What are your views on the latest announcements, particularly the plan to accelerate Singapore’s vaccination programme?

The ramp is due to the delivery of vaccine supplies being brought forward, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) expects to add another 500,000 new slots for people to get the first dose of the vaccine in the next few days from now till mid-July.

To allow more time for Singapore citizens aged 12 to 39 years old to make their vaccination appointments, the two-week priority window for this group will be extended by one week, till July 1.

Singapore has also signed advanced purchase agreements with American biotechnology company Novavax to secure its protein-based Covid-19 vaccine, with supplies possibly arriving before the end of the year.

The MTF also said with higher vaccination numbers, Singapore will be looking to live with Covid-19 as an endemic disease. Mr Wong said the task force is working on the “potentially revised public health guidelines” that would apply to vaccinated persons and will announce them when ready.

[5:53 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Time is of the essence to reach herd immunity for all countries.  Stimulus package alone cannot sustain the economy while people have doubts about the virus and vaccine.

[5:54 pm, 24/06/2021] +Caleb: Wonderfully!

[5:59 pm, 24/06/2021] +Joseph Ong: I think this is the wrong decision! Reverting to a 14-day quarantine supported by data is understandable/acceptable, but again placing blind faith and trust on people to "do the right thing" ie. self isolating via SHN puts the general population at unnecessary risks.

[5:59 pm, 24/06/2021] +Joseph Ong: Good News!

[6:00 pm, 24/06/2021] +Joseph Ong: Looking forward to vaccinations being made available to under-12 kids as well.

[6:00 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: This is not cast in stone and can be reversed if situation warrant.

[6:00 pm, 24/06/2021] +REACH: No cases of Delta Plus Covid-19 variant detected in Singapore

The latest coronavirus variant to raise concern, Delta Plus, has not been detected in Singapore, said the Health Ministry's Director of Medical Services Kenneth Mak on Thursday(June 24)

He said the Covid-19 task force will continue to keep a look out and monitor the Covid-19 situation here.

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/no-cases-of-delta-plus-variant-detected-in-singapore-dms

[6:02 pm, 24/06/2021] +REACH: Half of the cases at largest Covid-19 cluster in Bukit Merah View not vaccinated

Over half, or 51.1 per cent, of the positive Covid-19 cases detected in the 115 Bukit Merah View Market and Hawker Centre - now Singapore's largest open cluster with 82 infections - were not vaccinated.

https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/half-of-the-cases-at-largest-covid-19-cluster-in-bukit-merah-view-not-vaccinated

[6:02 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: 🤦‍♀️😔

[6:02 pm, 24/06/2021] +Valli: When borders are relaxed, this variant can easily sneak through.

[6:02 pm, 24/06/2021] +CQ: "Delta Plus is not in Singapore"... Yet.........

[6:02 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Agree

[6:03 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Correct

[6:04 pm, 24/06/2021] +Thomas: Can we make vaccinations mandatory? Worries are those anti-vaxer cause more issues

[6:04 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: I hope it doesn't come to that but common sense prevail!

[6:05 pm, 24/06/2021] +Thomas: Very hard to put common sense to anti-vaxer and conspiracy theorists

[6:06 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Think of your family and loved ones and our country.

[6:08 pm, 24/06/2021] +Valli: Some mandatory requirements should be imposed on incoming travellers. They should be vaccinated or declared Covid negative before departing & upon arrival.

If found positive , send them back. 🤷‍♀️

[6:08 pm, 24/06/2021] +YT: Looks like the government hasn't learned its lesson. There were many reports of travellers showing symptoms only after 14 days. That was what got us into this Heightened Alert mess in the first place. I am amazed by the short term memory loss amongst the MTF ministers.

[6:09 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: All these at their expense or their government.

[6:09 pm, 24/06/2021] +Caleb: They said 1 month monitoring. Got no evidence lei

[6:09 pm, 24/06/2021] +Caleb: Maybe 21 days need to increase to 40 days?

[6:09 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Have to play hard ball urgently!

[6:27 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Urgent Request:

Reconsider HBL for ALL non essential levels till 30 July subject to shorten or extend if needed.

Reason:

To minimise the spread of the Delta variant, vulnerable age of 7yrs to 18yrs. Secondly, completion of 1st jap for this age group.

Proceed:

Physical Schooling for graduating class of P6, O, N, A levels, ITE and final year Polytechnics.

[6:28 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Hope MTF can comment on this or has it been anticipated!?

[6:30 pm, 24/06/2021] +Poh S. Lim: Just curious if two-thirds (67%) is sufficient for herd-immunity.  I always thought that the figure was 75-80% to reach the level of "herd immunity". Two thirds translates to 4+ million population which means 8 million shots, quite an admirable achievement.

[6:30 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Thanks Mr Rama...

[6:32 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Perhaps 90% is the new calling.... Put aside the previous 75-80 range

[6:32 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Larger gatherings, Covid-19 testing in lieu of SHN being considered for those vaccinated https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/covid-19-testing-in-lieu-of-shn-for-vaccinated-travellers-and-larger-gatherings-for?utm_source=emarsys&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=ST_Newsletter_PM&utm_term=Larger+gatherings%2C+Covid-19+testing+in+lieu+of+SHN+for+those+vaccinated+on+the+cards&utm_content=24%2F06%2F2021&utm_source=whatsapp&utm_medium=social-media&utm_campaign=addtoany

[6:32 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: 👌

[6:34 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Believe our government can get this done.  A lot of work is still going on behind the scenes as updates are given to the people.

[6:35 pm, 24/06/2021] +Alvin Lim: I envision us hitting 70% to 80% vaccination rate by end of Q3. Maybe after that many things could be reopened.

[6:35 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Let's keep our fingers crossed

[6:36 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: A new concern:

With Europe + USA opening, it might cause further mutations of DELTA + GAMMA strains into yet unknown variants emerging from potentially massive infections!

So uncharted path and very worrisome!

[6:36 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Disease X!.?

[6:37 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: .. Just when one settles with one, another comes! Surely!

[6:37 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Mankind is being tested!

[6:38 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: FACT: The larger the NUMBERS of the infected will derive a mutation phrase well into many variants!

[6:39 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Delta plus is only the beginning!

[6:40 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Southern Hemisphere is starting to peddle into WINTER season.

[6:43 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Last 18 months, perhaps, the preface & intro to covid 101!

The first chapter of Covid starts comes July!

Be prepared, have stamina & stomach it!

[6:43 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: Perfect, this is exactly the right approach

[6:44 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Unpredictability has its negativity consequences.

[6:55 pm, 24/06/2021] +YT: There will come a time when the vaccines will need to be recalibrated due to the rapidly mutating virus. So, ramping up vaccination is only good for these current variants (maybe not even all of these variants). What happens when there emerges a variant or variants that is or are resistant to the vaccine? This is a very likely scenario given countries such as India, Indonesia, Malaysia and many others don't seem to be playing their part to contain the virus in their own countries. The virus will have a chance to mutate in these countries due to prolonged illnesses with lack of medical attention.

[6:58 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Yup

[7:05 pm, 24/06/2021] +Elena Woo: Can appeal to vaccinate the Confinement nannies from Malaysia? Coz they are handling newborns and recovering mummies.

[7:06 pm, 24/06/2021] +Elena Woo: Currently most of them are on short term passes and hence not eligible for vaccination.

[7:09 pm, 24/06/2021] +Caleb: 👍

[7:15 pm, 24/06/2021] +CQ: This should fall under Malaysia's obligations. Cos SG brings them in, with an SHN of 14 days, it's not enough time for both doses of the vaccine to be administered and the additional couple of weeks for the body to build the immunity.

[7:16 pm, 24/06/2021] +Caleb: Eh. Not suppose to take out all their PPE first meh, before taking the food?

[7:20 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: The situation across the causeway is shocking!

[7:20 pm, 24/06/2021] +Elena Woo: No leh, they are usually here for months with extensions during covid period at the moment.

[7:21 pm, 24/06/2021] +Elena Woo: Many confinement nannies are here since last year.

[7:21 pm, 24/06/2021] +Alvin Lim: Nope

[7:21 pm, 24/06/2021] +Alvin Lim: Zone 1 inside airport is no eating zone

[7:23 pm, 24/06/2021] +ZieChon: Just hope they sanitise properly as their neck and hair are exposed. Frontline not easy...

[7:23 pm, 24/06/2021] +ZieChon: And don't pull mask down to neck then put back over nose again 😕

[7:24 pm, 24/06/2021] +YT: Hearty meal indeed... fast food likely a cause for heart attacks.

[7:27 pm, 24/06/2021] +REACH: NCID studying cases of 'long COVID'; condition shows disease not 'a common seasonal flu'

The lingering symptoms of COVID-19, known commonly as "long COVID", adds to the case that COVID-19 is not like a common seasonal flu, said the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) director of medical services Kenneth Mak.

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/long-covid-syndrome-singapore-common-seasonal-flu-15083202

[7:29 pm, 24/06/2021] +CQ: But there is no certainty that they will be here long enough to see through the whole vaccination process.

And the priority now for vaxx is that Singaporeans go first, because they're done with the front line workers. From a policy perspective, if you topple that priority, other people working in Singapore also in high interaction with locals also expect to jump the queue because the vaccination situation back in their home country may not be as favourable. Then Singaporeans not happy and all the "Singaporeans must come first" complaint starts all over again.

[7:34 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

No wonder measles are make compulsory by law.

Because of the extremely high transmission rate. Thus 100% vaccination is required to stop its spreading.

Delta variants covid is only half of its transmission rate - hence UK study projected that 80% full Vaccination must be achieved to stop Delta variants spread

[7:35 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Good point

[7:36 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Delta variants transmit from 1 to 8 person.

Measles 1 transmit to 18 people - compulsory vaccination is mandated.

[7:40 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Make current vaccination compulsory!?

[7:41 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Yes I support mandatory vaccination.

Not sure whether government has difficulty in doing so or not.

[7:41 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Definitely

[7:41 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: Source :- Reuters

[7:43 pm, 24/06/2021] +Peter T Ng: I think if after 3Q there are widespread cases in the community especially impacting the unvaccinated, there may be a case for compulsory vaccination

[7:43 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Do it!

[7:44 pm, 24/06/2021] +YT: Agree! Also, those who refuse to get vaccinated should have privileges taken away from them. There are some very irrational and irresponsible people spreading fake news or fear to deter others from getting vaccinated. These people should be penalized.

[7:44 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Singapore currently :-

- ICU 5

- Oxygen support 13

- Hospitals 141

- Death 4 (all unvaccinated).

[7:44 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: Agree

[7:44 pm, 24/06/2021] +Rama: This must go down!

[7:54 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Entering Via Changi Airport:

ARRIVAL PROTOCOL FROM HIGH RISK COUNTRIES (include returning SPs & PRs)

Suggestion:

1) Announcements to Passengers, to remind and encourage the use of onboard lavatories prior to the aircraft landing into Changi Airport.

2) Buses standby by at the apron of the aircraft.

3) Up to 4 Cisco and 4 ICA officers standby to receive and direct arrivals to the designated buses to the respective HOTEL for 14 days Quarantine.

4) ICA officers to count & collect Passports only when passengers board the buses. Other immigration papers to be dealt at Hotel ICA counter.

5) Luggages to be fumigated at conveyor belt out from the aircraft before been stored into the buses luggage bay.

6) MOH swab team standby at Hotel to perform ART/PCR tests. Positive Cases to be transfered out. Tentage, tables, chairs and fans to be erected at site.

Reason:

"In the positive spirit of safety for all..."

To minimise physical contacts with the main airport staffs and other passengers.

The aircon Airport main halls will be utilised for LESS RISKY countries and / or with proof of true vaccinate passport of passengers! The copies of the arrival passengers manifest will have information on these details.

This method of diverting and minimising risk are no means of discrimination nor disrespectful to the HIGH RISK countries of arrivals.

[7:56 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

1. Endemic stage sooner or later will come - as the social and economic consequences cannot be neglected.

2. A roadmap on how the Endemic stage is to be achieved - need to be mapped out - in particular what are the milestones involved.

Eg. 50% full vaccination by when?

75% full vaccination by when?

80% full vaccination by when?

100% full vaccination by when - eg. intend to impose Mandatory Vaccination to achieve this target?

3. Assume the vaccination target to reach the inflection point is 80% - what is the Governent approach in getting the rest of 20% vaccinated?

- Bearing in mind, 20% population represent 1,130,000 people unvaccinated. Potentially a large group that will cripple our hospitals and ICUs.

- I support Mandatory Vaccination if Government has no difficulty or politically able to do so without triggering backlash.

4. What treatment methods are in place - to treat those infected with covid that display symptoms in hospitals?

- That will make oxygen support, hospitalisation and death - unlikely and result in very successful recovery rate?

If the roadmap to Endemic stage can cover all the above - it will give Singapore population very good confident that Singapore is ready for Endemic stage --- and the Singapore population are well protected from the covid irregardless of variants.

[8:07 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Effective treatment become the most important approach - if we are to declare endemic stage.

[8:20 pm, 24/06/2021] +Elena Woo: Yes, but they handle newborns and recovering mothers who are the vulnerable group.

[8:28 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

US infectious expert raise serious concern about Delta variants - and want vaccination to rapidly ramp up to at least 70% to curb Delta variants.

[8:31 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心:

Now even US scared of Delta variants

[8:31 pm, 24/06/2021] ☸️  Danny 心: https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/world/israel-delta-covid-19-variant-vaccinated-infected-quarantine-15074664                                                                                                                Israel 55% full vaccination is not good enough against Delta variants - and reverse the restriction measures to quarantine if infected with Delta variants.

US vaccination far from endemic - because Delta variants spreading like fire in unvaccinated States.

[8:32 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: Is this to make sure Covid is properly spread to everyone on board just before they arrive?.....   😁:1) Announcements to Passengers, to remind and encourage the use of onboard lavatories prior to the aircraft landing into Changi Airport.

[8:56 pm, 24/06/2021] +CQ: "Dear Passengers, if you need to use the restrooms, please go now prior to landing or forever hold your pees". 😆

[8:57 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: Airplane restrooms are one of the highest infection places. Small area and people remove their masks. I'd take a bottle and a tube.

[9:08 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Besides Using  bottle & tube...

Add on:

No eating, No Drinking and most important DONT SNEEZE OR COUGH!

LOL...

Airplane loo vs airport loo vs community loo

Infecting vs Infected vs hospitalised

Choose any of the variables

[9:08 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: You're right. Travel in general is just a very bad idea.

[9:11 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: This covid is such an interesting complex numbers game, from a mathematic perspective...

[9:17 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: A bit like Quantum maths, or Chaos Theory lol

[9:19 pm, 24/06/2021] +Peter T Ng: Brownian

[9:20 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: Hmm, more challenging indeed.

[9:23 pm, 24/06/2021] +Peter T Ng: Aye.

[9:23 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Using Matrix, probabilities, linear equations and calculus, perhaps, we will be able to a certain controllable outcome leading towards a 80% success in containment initiatives.

[9:25 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: Containments to REDUCE the probabilities of mutations to continue happening. .. So important!

[9:28 pm, 24/06/2021] +Smiley face: In a critical scenario, given out of control, vaccines will be redundant and the lead time to be UP TO SPEED to counter lethal and infectious strains will be a restless race against time!

[9:29 pm, 24/06/2021] +Wilson Loo: Just finished watching the full press conference by the Multi-Ministry Task Force (MTF) today. I've been following most of the full press conferences and it particularly the last 3 press conferences have seen the media being restricted/limited to just 1 question per media. In fact during last week and today's press conference, the emcee even (rudely; if I may add) interrupted the media asking the second question. I find this to be rather unbecoming, disrespectful and impeding the media from playing their role. As public citizens, we are unable to directly ask questions to the MTF and so the media plays the part of asking on our behalf - why should it be that they get cut-off for asking more than 1 question? Where is the accountability to the public?

If measles and mumps can be make compulsory in vaccination.

I suggest that for the protection of our elderly lives against covid - Mandatory Vaccination will be the best solution.

This will help to reduce pressure on hospitals facilities, reduce budget needed to set aside on healthcare - and protect our population knowing that covid is dangerous to our people.

[9:51 pm, 24/06/2021] +Ben: Yes, although I understand the resistance to taking it because it is a version 0.8 there have been basically zero problems with it here in SG as far as I know. No one believe the magnetic woman did they?
