UN is suppose to be a place where justice is upheld.

But Trump seems to think that money politics talks.

"When we make generous contributions to the UN we also have a legitimate expectation that our goodwill is recognised and respected," she said.
"They take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars and then they vote against us," Trump said at the White House.
"Well, we're watching those votes. Let them vote against us. We'll save a lot. We don't care."

So since now Trump decide not to pay UN, shall UN remove US seat from the UN?

Trump behavior in UN - is a pure bully and blackmailing.

UN should be a place of moral conscience - to make the World a better place.

It should not be tainted by money politics, bully, blackmail.

The resolution reaffirms that the status of Jerusalem must be resolved through negotiations, and that any decision reached outside of that framework must be rescinded.
Without explicitly referencing the US move, it "affirms that any decisions and actions which purport to have altered the character, status or demographic composition of the Holy City of Jerusalem have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded in compliance with relevant resolutions of the Security Council."

This is the international resolution.
US go against it.

Voting against US is the right thing to do.

This is the moral conscience to do in the UN.

UN is a place whereby international dispute, disputes between Countries are resolved.

The United Nations (UN) was created at the end of World War II as an international peacekeeping organization and a forum for resolving conflicts between nations.

Someone say that UN is irrelevant - are really naive.

If UN are not used to resolved dispute, where else to resolve dispute?

Is it following the footstep of WW2 - using conflict and confrontation to resolve dispute?

So if it is the International resolution arising from International consensus - shouldn't member states vote for it rather than against it?

Then what make Trump the audacity to cow and threaten member states to do otherwise?

Pls stop saying (or thinking) that the UN is irrelevant or lost credibility and what have you.
Think of how difficult the task is. Is stopping a massive country like the US easy?

I have friends working in the UN, and its made up of highly competent/intelligent/good/qualified people, many whom are well travelled, speak many languages and geuninely wants the world to be better.
I think the UN has adapted itself to the changing times very well already and the question we should be asking is 'how we can contribute to its cause better'
Peace out.

Danial Fernando, and may I also add...with fear but I am sure they must have weighted in the pros and cons and our Govt must be prepared for any turn arounds that would occur as the result.

I am heartened to learn Singapore voted in opposition.

We have no agenda with the US, but Trump's decision agitates the global Muslim community, and could potentially drive the region and perhaps the entire world into war.

The humanitarian and economics costs are too great.

Singapore voted with their conscience hence against Trump decision. You cannot support people who break the law just because they funded you. No ethics.
US logic : If i fund or pay money to you, and I rob somebody else (breaking the law), you must support me in my actions

She sounded so sour... US should understand that countries voted in favour of rejection doesn't mean they're disrespecting them. It's not an easy decision for all those countries to make. You know the reason why. Threatening to "remember those countries" won't help either. It'll only cast bad light towards US by saying that.

Countries caved in to the Mafia tactics of Trump that is obvious. However the decision to recognise Jerusalem is obviously something for the USA or any other country to approve or disapprove without UN approval. It is fairly typical though of the 'bully boy' tactics we are seeing from an administration that is blindingly Nationalistic and who couldn't give a a toss about any other country - whether they grovel to the USA or not. Those who think they got 'brownie points' by voting for, or even abstaining are deluding themselves.
Love him or loathe him no-one should be under any illusions of where the USA stands now, there was no secret about anything he is doing now, as it was clearly stated at the outset of his campaign. 'America for America', and the rest of the world simply doesn't rate.

Thank you Singapore for making the wisest decision. Thank you Singapore for showing solidarity to the Palestinian struggles. Tell that in Trump's face that "intimidation" defies the very principle and core values of Singapore in which this country was build upon.

Just because Israel helps us build our military in the 1960s and therefore we're gonna harp on that and remains silent on the Palestinian issue. No way! We are a people of conscience. We will be just and humane to all.

Those over here who sides with either U.S. or Israel's unilateral one-sided bias decision on Jerusalem. Know that, without the U.N., there won't be Singapore. Without the U.N., Singapore might've been annexed long ago by Malaysia or Communist-backed Indonesia.

Thank you U.N. for the overwhelming support for the Palestine. Let's hope Israelis and Palestinians can lived side by side in peace with both states having shared Jerusalem (Al-Quds) as their capital; East and West. A return to the negotiating table and a return to the recognised borders of 1947's U.N. Partition Line.
